I wouldn't at all be happy with a player shooting a 30' shot with 8 or so seconds in game. If it was an attempt to draw a foul, smart play. But the refs didn't buy that it was a legit shot and neither do I. But again, doesn't matter what I think.

Post the video. Will let everyone see the pull up 30' jumper with sec. in the game. Not a smart shot with that much time left from that far out. What everyone will see is a throw toward the basket after the foul. No shot.

I beg to differ. My guess is you don't see all 3 officials on film. I can tell you two officials held hands high with arms crossed albeit briefly. The one closest to the play made the official call to the scorer table. Again, I told you I wouldn't have called it intentional myself. How about the so called shot. Was it an actual shot or a throw? Can you give an honest appraisal.

Does she shoot one handed throwing style often? More like attempting to get the ref to call it in act of shooting but unfortunately it was not even close. Apparently, 3 officials saw it the same way so regardless of what either one of us think it doesn't matter. Only the officials are the ones that count.

Intentional foul was made in back court. WV player ran from about 10' away and reached back and swiped the SK player holding the ball. It was not a play on the ball but rather a harder than necessary attempt to foul. Again, as I stated previously, I believe the girl didn't intend to hurt the SK player but really didn't make a play on the ball so that is probably why TWO officials signaled intentional. I would not have called it intentional but I am also not running up and down the floor listening to the constant badgering the officials take. By the book, it was the correct call. Situation, I wish it didn't occur at the time that it did because this is the type of thing you are going to hear regarding the officiating.

Walton inbounded ball at half court and SK immediately fouled WV player. She then throws the ball toward the rim past the volleyball lines. NBA wouldn't even call that continuation, wasnt close to a shot. In fact the throw didn't even hit the backboard.

OK. I didn't see #14 stand out front and dribble the ball near mid court when SK's big was on her. Must of been imagining that going on. If she was attacking I would agree. In fact, SK sent their big out to guard her 30' from the basket and she never really ever attacked. She tried to dribble side to side to kill the clock. I think this went on most of 4th qtr. So if that's not holding the ball then you def. drink wayyyyyy to much WV cool aid. So correct me if I'm wrong. SK has possession of the ball with time slowly running down. WV girl runs at SK player to foul, hard foul so Ref calls intentional because it was a hard foul (again, I stated that I didn't think it should have been intentional). I don't think Walton player was trying to hurt SK player but she clearly was a little overzealous in attempting to foul. I can also tell you that 2 officials signaled intentional so.... SK makes one free throw and repossess the ball. OK. I'm not sure how that resulted in 3 points but whatever. Drink the cool aid. Regarding your comment on intentional foul at end of game... Your seriously trying to get a continuation foul 30' from the basket? WV player intentionally fouled but your saying that a one handed throw after the fact was a shot? Drink the cool aid. That IS laughable. To be honest, WV probably played their type of game but I'm guessing SK is 20+ better when they even play an average game. I know that hurts but its an honest assessment.

Well I def. picked the wrong game to come and watch. Unimpressed with both teams, seems like they were both playing not to win. Multiple wide open shots passed up. WV and SK both holding the ball. If they were up for the fight bonus with UFC tonight both of these teams need not apply. The intentional foul in the end was a bad call, it was a foul no doubt but probably shouldn't have been called intentional. Resulted in a 1 point advantage to SK in the end so I'm not sure it really impacted the outcome. But you can go into the constant moving screens, phantom fouls, hard contact no fouls all night as well. This crew was really consistent at being inconsistent. However, I don't think they shaded their inconsistency either way. Man that's hard to understand. Almost as hard as this game was.

I believe that is called a splarge? Should be called more frequently.

I actually wish ref's would get a better grip of the Euro step. I have seen kids on multiple occasions take two full lunges (easy call) and they allow it as if it was the Euro. I truly believe the officials don't always full understand this move.

Thank you Clyde and Triple 7. Nothing frustrates me more when you are sitting in the stands and you hear parents yell..." He didn't walk he is allowed 2 steps!!" or the proverbial 3 seconds when players are fighting for a rebound (no control) and fans are yelling "...your terrible! They have been in the lane for 8 seconds...." Again, no control over the ball as shots are going up. Also, love the over the back explanation " She clearly went right over her back and got the rebound" When there was absolutely no contact the player just simply jumped over her.

I wish someone could tell me if I am accurate. I thought displacement from the block using hands or bent arm was not allowable. Is this true? I have seen this in about every game I have seen this year and find it frustrating that some refs make this call when most don't. If this is this is the rule then I think a lot of inconsistency in making this type of call only frustrates the players and fans watching.

I'm wondering how many fouls HC committed at the end of the game to stop the clock? I wasn't at the game but a friend of mine said SK sealed the game by making all of their free throws in the last 1:30 or so. That tells me that HC was probably trying to steal or intentionently stop the clock to try and get back in the game. If that was the case then it appears the fouls were pretty evenly called. Again, I wasn't there so I can't say this is 100% accurate but is what I was told.

I'm taking Holmes by 20+. I just think Holmes pressure will expose Ryle's biggest weakness and turn the game heavily in their favor. The only chance I see Ryle having is a quick whistle that forces Holmes to back off.

I don't think SK has played yet.

I agree with RCC9. Keep CC from backdooring you to death and out of the lane and I believe Franklin Co. wins by 10+. I'm not sure CC has anyone that can guard the girl from Franklin (her name escapes me) as she is an athlete that is above anything CC has. However, if CC is allowed to make their cuts then they could really frustrate Franklin co. and come out with the win.

You have some great points but def. disagree with a few. There really shouldn't be any irony as my whole point of the post was that I think it was somewhat misled regarding that SK was crying of physical play. At least that's the way I have read into it. 2nd point; I couldn't agree more 3rd point; I don't think you really understood the context. The players weren't complaining about the physicality of the game. I think both teams actually handled it pretty well and I'm not sure many teams would want to be involved in that level of physical contact. However, from a basketball standpoint, you really aren't accomplishing much when the defense fouls every possession because their are no consequences and it turns into a free throw contest. So I think at one point there were probably double digit possessions without a field goal being attempted due to fouls. I'm not referring to touch fouls either. This is where kids from both sides started becoming frustrated and attempting to defend themselves. This is why I stated that you don't get a lot out of this simply because it was a mug fest. I blame that on the officials and I think that is what SK coaching staff's entire point was with pulling the players. I don't put the blame on Brossart or SK. I think Brossart is going to have an excellent year if their guards hold up and their Bigs stay out of foul trouble. I also think SK is going to have a tremendous year and look much better than last years version. They rebound better, shoot better, handle the ball better and move better. The question is whether or not their defense will develop into a better form of previous teams.

I agree. Usually teams with the more 'talented' or seasoned teams tend to experiment a little. For the most part, they already know what their teams do well and simply use scrimmages to try different lineups etc... When the underdog is usually pulling out their best silverware. That doesn't mean the top dog doesn't want to win though.

I must have been at an entirely different scrimmage. Sorry this may disappoint you triple 7's but SK was actually the aggressor except for a short stint of time. No disrespect to either team as I thought both teams played physical, actually to physical, and it got to the point of no longer having a scrimmage because nothing was being accomplished other than risking injury. Stowers did pull his team after the PG came off a high screen and the Brossart player (which must of had 20 fouls no exaggeration) shoved the PG and starting bumping her to nearly half court. The refs did call a foul but on SK's PG. This after tempers were already high on both teams and an SK player thru an elbow after getting hit twice in the post with no whistle. So the point being, great call by the coach as neither team was accomplishing much due to the physicality and kids were just getting angry and starting to take things in their own hands. That's on the officials as both coaches repeatedly requested for them to tighten things up. As for the 'enforer' role. Their is no bigger physical presence than Meir. I've also heard that Buckner played extremely tough this summer having to go against some of the top Centers in the nation in Meir's absence so it sounds like SK is in good hands. Where they will miss Bosse the most is the leadership role that she played but I expect that someone will evolve into that as time goes by. Keep in mind, they start 3 Soph, 2 Jr's and have a soph and two 8th graders as their top subs right now. That's a young team but highly competitive as evidence by these girls skill levels. They clearly work at their game. I really have a hard time seeing anyone in the 8th beating them and fill its theirs to lose. Will see how they develop as they have an extremely tough schedule so they will no where they fit in the grand scheme of things in a short period of time.

The system is what it is. If they need to make any changes then I would start with making private schools adhere to enrollment the same as Ohio or Tn does or have the private schools form their own playoff system. Not trying to thread jack but its ridiculous watching the travesty that is the system now.

Yes. All games are a blind draw in basketball unlike soccer that has the first round selected and rotated due to geographical situations.

As intriguing as the Brossart vs ND game is I believe this is the better of the two games in the area tonight. It will be interesting to see if SK can pull off the upset against one of the perennial powerhouses. Keys to the game? SK appears to have more speed but Sacred Heart is more technical and fundamental with the ball. SK must capitalize on their opportunities and pressure Sacred Heart when on defense Sacred Heart must control tempo of the game and limit SK's attacks.
