What are your thoughts for this exciting early season matchup?

This is a great season opener between two very good teams. No way I could make a solid call on it, or even try. I will not be surprised with a win by either team. I think on paper, the advantage might go to Franklin, but that's just paper. For various reasons, my prediction will be that Campbell struggles with foul trouble, and Franklin squeaks out the win. If Campbell can stay out of foul trouble, they can bring home the win.

Agreed. Also depends on how Franklin defends CC as well. Keep CC out of the lane and they may have some issues. Play them straight up and CC has a great shot to win.

What a great even match up. I watched NDA scrimmage Franklin last week and know CC players pretty well. This game goes either way if CC can hit some shots. Tough to overcome that drive and home gym but CC has a lot of ballers. Good luck TC and MS

And you keep them from getting good shots by keeping the drivers out of the lane and getting kick outs to the shooters.

I agree with RCC9. Keep CC from backdooring you to death and out of the lane and I believe Franklin Co. wins by 10+. I'm not sure CC has anyone that can guard the girl from Franklin (her name escapes me) as she is an athlete that is above anything CC has. However, if CC is allowed to make their cuts then they could really frustrate Franklin co. and come out with the win.

Agreed, Campbell has great shooters. But Franklin can defend them very easily if key ones are on the bench in foul trouble.

 

I am not trying to say CC are "hackers" at all. On the contrary, Campbell is skilled.

But here is why Campbell will have to be extra discipline on defense and not give too many cheap ones.

 

1. They are on the road out of their region (Something strange about that sometimes...lol)

2. Franklin has a couple of players in Kilbourne and Frank that are very good making you foul and getting to the line.

3. Campbell plays an aggressive defense full or half, that has a tendency to yield more foul calls.

4. They just came off of a scrimmage where you could not foul out and players did not have to sit even after the 11th personal foul. This may not be too big, but I think there is something to said about habit. You can't get away with something for a while, then in a snap, turn it off, without a game or two learning curve.

 

Admittedly, I may be making this last point to much of a factor, however, the first three are legit.

CC shot over 50% from the field as a team last season. If they can put up a similar number this game, then they will be tough to beat.

How did NDA do against Franklin?

 

In a scrimmage its hard to tell. It was a 4-5 pt game (FC) with about 1:30-2 mins to go. NDA was down mid way in Q1 and then really handled FC guards well. FC was all about Frank going isolation to the basket. starters to starters plus maybe 1-2 it was a very even game. Franklin Co has a very good starting 5. 5 can handle to ball, 3 can attack and 11 can shoot the ball although I don't think she took more than 1-2 shots vs NDA.

Agreed. Any team that shoots 50% will be tough to beat. That is excellent for a girls team.
