Wow. Nice game for Ryle. I'm surprised it wasn't closer. Did Ryle play that well or was Scott just that rusty. How was the guard play for Scott?

Nice win for Ryle! Heard they looked really good and Scott has a few things to work out.

It's way early!!

How was Stapleton? Ryle shut her down or was she off?

If I were Ryle I would ask for every game this season including the 9th Region Tournament to be played at Scott. Don't know if it's the lighting or what but this is the 2nd year in a row they shot the lights out in Scott's gym.

Take away the 17-20 pts that Scott spotted Ryle right off the bat and this would have been a nail biter of a game. Unfortunately the Eagles couldn't hit anything early on and the Raiders didn't miss.

Call it rust, call it nerves, doesn't matter. Ryle looked very good and both teams (after the 1st minutes) battled the rest of the game and went on runs. Ryle opened the lead up to as much as 31, while Scott was able to close it down to as close as 11. In the end it all boiled down to shooting percentage both from the field and from the charity stripe. Ryle hit, Scott did not.

That said I am not worried bout the Lady Eagles. All the things I was looking for out of this game; agression, attitude, physicality and even conditioning were all present.

Going to be an unpredictable and fun season to watch.

Ryle played very well. Through scrimmages and this first game the new look Raiders have jumped out to 15 to 20 point leads early with great defense, controlling the boards and combination of solid outside shooting, post scoring, and slashing to the basket. Fun to watch! Scott will be fine...very scrappy team. Stapleton hit some big shots and Scott cut the lead to within 11 in the 3rd quarter. I believe Ryle had 12 or 13 play in this game...as solid a starting 5 as you'll find in the area and great play from the bench. It's early but nice first win for Raiders.

Just a question but did Scott prove they could play with anyone and prove the doubters wrong in the 10th.

Lots of clipboards in attendance last night!

Probably not last night, but it's early and they still have a lot of talent. I guess time will tell whether this was the case of Ryle is just really good or that Scott just wasn't ready for their opener and has some things to work on. Ryle could be playing with a chip on their shoulder...constantly hearing they have underachieved over the last couple years. And sometimes the team matchups just aren't good for certain teams. There are a lot of factors that could have played into this. But to answer your question, I agree...looking at the final score, it probably didn't do a lot for any doubters they have.

RCC9, quick rules question. If a JV player starts a varsity game is she allowed to move back down to jv? Thanks

Yep. Only seniors are excluded from JV.

Thanks for the clarification!

Was very impressed with the way 8th grader Maddie Scherr handled the Ryle offense. Solid decision making and didn't turn the ball over. She is going to be a big piece of Ryle's overall success. Very proud of Maddie! She has worked very hard!

Didn't understand why Anna Clephane wasn't more involved in Scott's offense. She seemed very under utilized last night. I would get her a touch every-time down the floor. She is a very talented young lady.
