Open Jobs/Filled Jobs 2014
theoldveteran replied to AHSPanther23's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Becoming more common as teaching positions are limited and coaches are needed. It may be what Bracken needs to do to hire a coach. -

Who are they hoping will apply? I guess things didn't work out the way they planned in Brooksville. With limited teaching openings it will be hard to find a coach. -
Bracken County opening

Somebody got upset so Hinson doesn't accept. Why is it that some administrations listen to parents and others way too much. -
Is the Montgomery job open?
theoldveteran replied to theguru's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Could it be Kevin Spurloch? Been at Several schools such as Clay County and PCC. Had applied at Pendleton but withdrew his name before interviews. -
Bracken County Holiday Tournament Shelved

I am not sure how they couldn't be making money. Even if they don't make a ton of money they are saving money by not going to a tournament elsewhere. Why not wait until a head coach is named and allow him to be a part of the decision. Maybe the new coach would have ideas to make it more profitable. -
Pendleton County Names a New Head Coach

I agree. This staff needs a seasoned assistant that knows the ins and outs of the season in helping this young staff. I believe Sowder has been there 6 or 7 years. He is more of a players coach and relates really well to the kids. -
I have never personally met Coach Hicks but I hear the same thing from everyone - super nice great guy, and much different personality on the court. Some of the best are like that. When they step between the lines it is all business.

Brent Sowder has accepted a coaching position with Keaton Belcher on the PC staff. Congrats and welcome back to the high school ranks. -

Its almost been a week and a half now since interviews took place. What is going on? Will a head coach be named soon? -
Jackson Davis Offers Are Heating Up

Butler would be a great choice. Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. Would have been awesome to watch a game there during their run a couple years ago. -

I have not seen an updated list. What jibs from this list have been filled? -

Would have thought we would have heard something by now. Previous Pendleton Co. Coaches Cox and Stapleton were interviewed. Wirth never applied therefore, no interview. Did Sowder from the previous staff apply? -

Wirth would fill that role well. He is a former head coach as well as assistant that was on staff one year with Biggs and the entire time Simms was head coach. Would he even consider a position? Will he coach somewhere next year? -

I have not seen many pretty shooting nights in Montgomery's gym, especially from the visiting team. Of all the games I have seen here the visiting team struggles. IMO not a good shooting gym and rims often seem tight. The Barn was much better for shooting. -
Region Tournament Officials Swap
theoldveteran replied to TheAmishElectrician's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
You are correct. What everyone needs to realize is that each group of region officials are going to be the best officials each region has to offer. Now if those officials don't do a decent job (not everyone will like them) then can you imagine what the rest of the officials in that particular region are like? -
Campbell County @ Boone County 1/16 cancelled
theoldveteran replied to afi100guy's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Key word you used there is "main" road. Its always a tough call for administrators, but many times main roads may be ok its the side roads that are the problem. Im sure most athletes and fans live on side roads, therefore, making slick road conditions sometimes. -
Yes officials should use logic in this case. How close was the player to the bench or was he in the middle of the floor taking off his jersey. In most cases, I guarantee the last thing the player, coach, or trainer is thinking about is getting completely off the floor. They want the jersey off immediately due to the blood.
