Wireman Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 So much for the wrath of the KHSAA. Good win for Cordia. They'll likely lose to KCC in the title game but have as good a chance as any team to win the region. The Lions are peaking at the right time. I think the reaction around the state would be interesting if Cordia won the region and went to Rupp.

BIG BLACK JACK Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Maybe people will be for the 4th Region representative for once? They'd probably leave after they all come to watch Wayne County.
theoldveteran Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Whatever happened to the KHSAA cracking down on Cordia? Once again they gave in. Also, last I read the kid that through the sucker punch would be suspended for 2 games. Did the school enforce further punishment?

I think I read that the Chapman kid was going to receive additional punishment from the school. I don't think exactly what the additional punishment is was detailed though. As far as the rest of the stuff, I'm going to take a "wait and see" approach on any kind of punishment/sanctions regarding anything else. All year, there have been rumors of an investigation, something coming, etc., but time and time again, they haven't amounted to anything. When those rumors came up this time, I was highly skeptical and think it was just people blowing off steam from the PCC incident. I'm not really sure that the KHSAA "gave in", just that you need evidence. I'm not really sure that many schools in the 14th really want to be the whistleblowers and have investigations going on either.

You are innocent until proven guilty,,,,I like your thoughts, wait and see..There has been alot of rumors started on this matter from people who know no more about the matters than I do,,There could be some stuff going on, and there might, I am not saying the is not, but if no coaches or school boards are crying, are there issuses, and maybe they are in contact with the Khsaa, that we do not know. I am sure this will be addressed in due time,,until then maybe the finger pointing should stop....
cahall Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) Hypothetical???? Did it surprise you that Johnson did not retaliate? If he had, according to the rules, would he have to sit out two games? If he had been suspended would PCC have been able to make it out of their district? Do you think the penalty should be flexible when the player retaliates? Would this open a can of worms where the KHSAA has to be the jury? What are your thoughts? Do really good players receive excessive physicality based on their athletic abilities? Should these players receive constant pushing and shoving, goal to wear them down and ultimately frustrate them? Was it your understanding that the rule changes for this year were designed to clean up the game? Is it difficult to see how a touch foul can be called in one part of the floor and a mugging not result in a foul in another? These are some issues that have been bothering me all season. I would like to hear your opinions. Edited February 26, 2014 by cahall Misuse of word

I don't think Hazard, Knott County Central, or Perry County Central, their main competition and schools who have transfers of their own, are going to want to do much finger pointing or initiating investigations that have the KHSAA poking around in the area scene. Given that this is the third or fourth time we've heard about an "investigation" or "something will be coming down soon", only to see that day come and pass, I think that I'm well served to be skeptical about any new rumors until I hear something from the KHSAA.

I agree, I doubt the KHSAA is going to let anyone know they are investigating in this situation.

Were you at the game in question, I was not, so I do not know all the details leading up to the punch, penalties were handed out, what else should be done,,As far as the rule changes, I see no difference in the way the game is called today than 5 years, When I go to a HS game ,very often, I go to watch the players,,not the stripes, maybe some of the people in the stands should apply for their jobs..
