Agree.

 

I don't think Hazard, Knott County Central, or Perry County Central, their main competition and schools who have transfers of their own, are going to want to do much finger pointing or initiating investigations that have the KHSAA poking around in the area scene.

 

Given that this is the third or fourth time we've heard about an "investigation" or "something will be coming down soon", only to see that day come and pass, I think that I'm well served to be skeptical about any new rumors until I hear something from the KHSAA.

 

I agree. And I'm one of those that got suckered into the rumors. I talked to several people from a couple of the schools from the 53rd and 54th and they were all but certain that the KHSAA was going to shut down Cordia's program "either Monday or Tuesday."

One even went so far as to say, "they was going to do it on Friday but decided against it because of Senior Night activities."

Supposedly the KHSAA had "signed" papers from several former Cordia players of falsifying transfer documents and violations of KHSAA Bylaws.

 

I'll not get drawn so easily into that drama again. Something may come down later but for some reason I doubt it. It's like I told one of the people I was getting info from, as far as the legality of the transfers most of their players are okay. I beieve two of them sat out the required amount of time set forth by the KHSAA, and Cunningham's mother lives in the area, so he's legit. In addition, the 6'8 kid is an 8th grader, so transfer rules don't apply to him. Even if they didn't allow the court junction players to play, Cordia still has enough players to play a game. Unless of course, they just shut them down, which didn't happen.

For my part I'm glad the KHSAA didn't resort to those drastic of measures. Death Penalty is as bad as it gets for a school and community.

Isn't Cunningham's father an assistant at Cordia as well?

 

I don't believe the Senior Night thing. If the evidence were there, it would have been brought down swiftly. Even in the odd event that, for whatever reason, the action weren't swift, you can bet that something would not have been said to anyone who'd repeat it on a message board. Think of it like this: what if they don't take immediate action, then there's an incident like the Chapman one (or something that could someone could bring an action for). Do you really think the KHSAA would chance letting something like that happen?

 

There may be things that come out one day, but I'm going to do as I've done throughout this whole thing and be very skeptical of any rumors until I see it in ink or pixels in a statement released by the KHSAA.
