Use this experience to improve. The Colonels are stronger now than they were a year ago. Go Colonels. -

Covington Catholic at Moeller (OH) Predictions
BlueColonel87 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Football (High School)
This CCH team will show up ready to play with every expectation to win. They have been underestimated since 7th grade and have never backed down. Moeller will show up ready to play because they are well coached. So will CovCath because the are. aloe well coached. I look forward to the game. Go Colonels -

Don't forget the most important opportunities of all. The opportunity to learn and grow in your faith, attend mass and worship God. Families make many sacrifices to send their children to a Private school. I can assure you, most of the students that attend the private schools do not participate in formal sports teams. Let's move this discussion back to the game. Go Colonels! -

In no way was Dixie flat at the start of the game. The two punt returns took a lot of wind our of their sails and caused them to go away from their strengths. I do believe the same result without the two special team TDs, but Dixie could have stayed with their ground and pound approach. Flip the situation and give Dixie two TDs to start the game without their O even taking the field and its a completely different game. I'll take any team that scores two TDs on special teams. -

Great game for the Blue Colonels. I still think Dixie will be a team to be reckoned with later in the season. I wish them well the rest of the season. This is the only game where I do not root for the Red Colonels. I know a lot of the families. Also, I think that the Blue Colonels showed some toughness today. Next week it's Moeller. Go Colonels. -
Dixie Heights/Covington Catholic Predictions
BlueColonel87 replied to uk#1fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
It is a different day. Fields are made of turf (Fast Play). Typically very good conditions (Unfortunately no more or at least fewer MudBowl games) Spring ball and summer 7-v-7 allow for development of timing between QB and receivers. Today's game is different than in years past. It used to be the bigger, tougher, meaner, nastier guys won. Now typically the smarter, faster, better prepared teams win. When I think about smash mouth football, I think about the kid from Ryle that blew out his knee his senior season. I would have to say there aren't too many of those smashmouth type teams anymore (Ryle's not that way anymore) where you have a hardnosed RB carry the ball 30+ times a game. We won't see that again unless a legit D1 running back comes along. So if you don't have that D1 STUD, the ball is going to be thrown around to the small, skinny, fast, and though not Smash Mouth type players, they are still "Tuff" as they have to take hits and keep coming back. I challenge you that Cov Cath is not "Tuff". I guess we will have to see Saturday morning. -
Glad to hear he is going to NKU. Good luck on your senior season.

Dixie Heights/Covington Catholic Predictions
BlueColonel87 replied to uk#1fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
BLUE Colonels have the edge based on both distant and recent history between the two schools. The Blue Colonels just seem to find a way to win. Recently if the Red Colonels have had the upper hand, the Blue Colonels have found a way..... Along comes Gabe Gray, last year it was Sam Dressmen and Mathew Way, and let's not forget the Cable Camera Man (MVP of that game). Who will it be this season? We will know Saturday afternoon. Should be a good game at Wooten Field. Go (BLUE) Colonels. -

First one under your belt. Way to go Colonels. Little slow getting going, but once you did. Wow. FAST receivers. Great O-Line. QB that can hurt you with the run and pass. Cant wait to see what happens when the Running Game gets going. It's going to be fun. Defense showed well. Had some good showings from some new faces. Look forward to getting to see everyone. Disappointed the game was called before the 2's could get some time. Want to see what the future holds for CCH. Go Colonels. -

Cov Cath wins. Should be a very good game. Cov Cath will have to play well to win and so will Dixie. I posted earlier that Dixie is going to be very good, but CCH is also very good. I'm a Blue Colonel fan whenever these two teams meet. No doubt will be very physical and in the end CCH win. Good luck to both teams and the kids I coached in peewee on both teams. Go Blue Colonels! -
Covington Catholic vs. Boone County Predictions
BlueColonel87 replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
Covington Catholic -vs- Boone County was the traditional first game of the season for both teams. Glad to see that they are back at it to start the season again. We will see a very fast team on the field for CCH. I am not sure what to expect from Boone. Saturday afternoon kickoff. It's game time for real now. Go Colonels!!!! -
The time I visited the old stadium, the stands showed some age, but the atmosphere was awesome. Field surrounded on three sides by the horseshoe. You could feel the history and tradition. Does the new stadium have grass or turf? What about the stands are they in a Horseshoe shape again with the walkway around the top? Is the field down in a bowl? Good luck this season to Ashland.

Great day for a scrimmage. The results I wanted. Got out of the house and watched some football. Good plays made on both sides of the ball. The seniors seem to be filling some of the holes left by last years graduations well enough. Some underclassmen stepped in and had some nice plays, Shelton and Best were the two I caught names on their plays. Best part of all. The Colonels are as healthy after the game as when they were before it started. Go Colonels. -

article Dixie Heights Colonels 2014 Football Preview
BlueColonel87 replied to Walter's topic in KY Football (High School)
Based on last season 7-3 regular season finish, the fact that Dixie lost some talented seniors (definitely not in rebuild mode though), return many players that will be either two or three year starters and have made improvements every season under Coach Brossart, anybody that does not expect Dixie to be one of the better teams in Northern Kentucky is just kidding themselves. I am a Blue Colonel Fan and have respect for the Red Colonels down the road. -
I have seen Fieger and Moore both play. Would think both are deserving, but for very different reasons. Fieger will hurt you with his arm and Moore with his feet. Either Wagner or Dressman at Cov Cath could be in consideration at the end of the year. I can't say I have seen any of the other QBs play much so my nominations are Best typical QB - Fieger Best Running QB - Moore Best Duo - Cov Cath Wagner/Dressman Most likely newcomer - Hodge

EARLY Mr. Football Candidates
BlueColonel87 replied to Purple88's topic in KY Football (High School)
Will be fun to see how good these guys really are. I get to see several of the names which have been floated around. Hope all have great seasons and come out of the 2014 injury free. One last thing. I bet most of those listed would pass on the Mr. Football title in favor of being a member of the State Championship team. If not, they don't deserve to be Mr. Football. Good luck to all.
