  1. I was not sure how the Colonels would do against NCC and their size. The Colonels played very well and made the shots that counted. NCC made a run, CovCath regrouped and finished the game at the end. Both coaches are excellent coaches and these two teams should meet again and hopefully the same results. NCC out coached, No way. NCC outplayed Absolutely!!!!
  2. Agreed, Alex Wagner was a great football player for the Colonels, but more importantly he was a great kid. There are 25 other seniors that graduate as well. Replacing the skill players on offense and the leadership on both sides of the ball will be a challenge for Coach Wirth and the rest of the staff. Time for this group of Colonels (2015 Football Seniors and Underclassman) to step-up.
  3. All kidding aside, this is THE AWARD to be nominated for. It says a lot about who these kids are a people. And usually something about the values they learned from their parents, teachers and coaches along the way. From the above post, sounds like Hayden Molitor could easily have been nominated. I am sure there are many more kids just like him. Congratulations to the five nominees. Good luck to each of them.
  4. Taking that into consideration, I will move him up on my list to be tied with Woolf. Likely would have been tied for 1st if he had attended Father-Son day with my son and I, and a vote for my Chili would have made him a sure lock for #1 IMO.
  5. Appreciate the offer TDY, but no thanks. Funny about the highlight video. That play is one of the good memories of the season. See you around.
  6. Here is how I would vote. Sam Murrer- Cov. Cath (Obvious Reason) Ryan Woolf- Ryle - From what I have heard very good kid. (Also his dad is a CCH grad) Branden Johnson- Dixie Heights - (He is a Colonel) Joe Studer- Beechwood - (Because three others are ahead of him). Beau Hoge- Highlands - (Because of that darn run - Reminds me of Christian Laettner at least I won't have to watch the replay every fall!!!)
  7. I would add Alex Wagner on defense and Logan McDowell on Offense. Both played hurt most of the season and were still very productive. When health they were both something to watch.
  8. Contact Cov Cath I am sure you would be welcome in Park Hills if the date is open.
  9. Wish Zajac would have stayed at CCH, would have loved to have the other two there also. All very good players that will be hard to replace next season. Good luck to these three and the rest of the Red Colonel Seniors in the future.
  10. From what I saw (Only two on the list) Beau Hoge. I think Veneman was a very good receiver that put up big numbers because of Hoge and the desire by the HHS Offensive coordinator to pad the stats. I have heard many HHS fans complain about too many dropped passes. IMO he was not the hands down best receiver in NKY. Just the one with the best stats. With that said, I would have gladly had him playing for our team.
  11. After the 1st CCH game maybe. After the 2nd, I am not so sure. Got the job done and allowed fewer points than the Offense put up. Really good coordinator yes. The best, nope.
  12. Whatever class you are in, you have to beat your opponent. Until they are beaten, the favorite in 5A has to be Highlands. Hope the Covington Catholic Colonels can have something to say about it though. It is a long offseason (Time to put in the work.) but the 2015 season will be here before we know it. I enjoyed the 2014 season, and can't wait until September.
  13. There are fans of the team from Ft Thomas that have class. Also some that are lacking in this area. Time to grow up boys. Good luck to the underclassmen at CCH as they work and prepare for next year.
  14. Good Luck Highlands. Though I would prefer my Colonels moving on, it just didn't happen. See you next year.
  15. There is no rule in HS football concerning the number of players in the huddle.
  16. No moral victory here. Yes 100% certain there will be changes next season for the CCH Football team. They graduate 26 seniors. To the rest of your comment and the insinuation. Not very classy. Actually shameful coming from an adult. I am personally disappointed in you as a person.
  17. Thank you TDY. I will miss the excitement of my son playing as well. Wish Johnny good luck and see you at the festival.
  18. An exciting game to the end. I have enjoyed watching the CCH seniors since CYF and a select few even longer in NKYFL. You all gave it everything you had tonight and came up just 3 points short. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Great display of Class and Heart getting the season back on track. There is a reason for the motto "With a Spirit that will not die!" You guys get it. My son is a Senior and I will miss the Friday nights and Saturday afternoons (and a couple very hot mornings.) Thank you for the memories. Congratulations to Highlands on the win. Good luck next week.
  19. Always a good environment for football at Highlands. (Except for the outcome every year since 2016.) Expect nothing less this year. Colonels need to keep their composure, play their game. Keep the HHS receivers in front of them and we have a ball game. With a little luck, and a lot of disciplined football, CCH wins. White pants and all! Go Colonels.
  20. Well, there was the "Mud Bowl". Now we have the "Snow Bowl". 1st ingredient is a significant weather event. 2nd ingredient. A good team playing their game. 3rd the cook (Coach). Keeping the pressure in the cooker from getting to great and the lid blowing off. Really only need #2 and 3, but I like #1 for nostalgia. I know CCH is a good team and Wirth is a good coach. Play your game and see what happens.
  21. Congrats to Coach Wirth, all of the other coaches and the players. This is a reflection on both the organization as well as the Head Coach. With a Spirit that Will Not Die!
  22. It was a long trip down and back. I enjoyed the conversations with the JC folks. The JC fans I met, though rooting for their team, were very courteous and friendly. I will miss this game. Good luck to the Golden Eagles next season.
