According to Bowling Green Daily News, BuCANNON went 15-17 for 280 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs He is special. Getting better every game

BGHS QB, Beau BuCANNON, does it again. Near flawless performance. Not sure of his yardage yet but would have to be in mid-three hundred range WITH 5 TD's and ZERO INT's. This gives Beau 24 TDs with ZERO INTs through 11 games. Nearing 64% completion. Unreal for first year starter. Vito Tisdale had great all around game. Broke up passes on his side of field. Kickoff return for TD (again) with additional rushing TD. Had a crazy hard (legal) hit on a kid. He is ruthless. Purples are peaking! Not sure about Red Devil play calling. Also, I have an honest question. I know Red Devils may not be as stacked as they used to but I only counted 41 players. I counted 40 cheerleaders (I kid you not). Are you telling me there are only 41 male football athletes walking the hallways of that school? They are a 5A school with 3A numbers. Not good. Not trying to put their team down. I'm just sniffing that something is not right. Great game Purples. Keep clicking on all cylinders.

For anyone that keeps up with Bowling Green Purples you know that in our recent success QBs Devin Hayes and Clark Payne has been unbelievable! Two awesome HS QBs. Did you realize that current BGHS QB, Beau BuCANNON has the chance to have a better overall statistical year than both Hayes and Payne had their junior year? BuCANNON has had a fantastic season (ending regular season with zero interceptions). Beau BuCANNON needs to be on most underrated list for sure! Kid can play.

Namely, the players. Certainly coaches can make a huge difference but the kids have a lot to say about it.

Meaning, they are ready to explode on opponents. Sorry, bogged down at work wishing Friday would hurry up and arrive.

Looking forward to seeing how the next 5 weeks plays out in 5A. I view my Purples like a bottle of coke, shaken up, with the top getting ready to be removed. I think they will be laser focused and ready to take the field. I think because of their two losses in weeks 2 & 3 that teams feel the kinks in the armor has been exposed. Although it is never a good idea to overlook anyone in the playoffs (especially the Red Devils) I think BGHS is ready to prove to a handful of teams that they are still the champs. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. The next few weeks will be the chance to do just that. I, for one, would love to see the Purples have a shot at Covington Catholic. Not getting ahead of myself but just would love to see that game. Good luck to all 5A teams. Let's hope the weather cooperates and some great games await!

Great post. BGHS has been on an incredible run ( I think we are 92-5 since 2011). We knew going into the season that we were going to take some losses, especially early on. We simply had too many shoes to fill that graduated last year. Big shoes, including Mr Football. Purples fans has been watching Cov Cath throughout the season. We have some work to do in order to even get to week 4. I think Cov Cath will have maybe one 2nd half game (maybe) until week 4. BGHS would love the chance to play you guys. We know that it will be a tall order but it would be great to see. The winner of week 4 of whoever plays Cov Cath will be your 5A state champion. Good luck, congrats on a great season. It would be beyond cool and an absolute great game/atmosphere to play you all the Friday after Thanksgiving.

To me, this is a scary first round game for the Purples. I know our win streak against them is what most folks across state will consider but the Purples need to show up Friday night. I wouldn't think many 5 A teams would view the Red Devils as an easy out in week 1 of playoffs. With that said, I still feel BG coaching staff will make sure no arrogance or egos will take the field Friday night but rather a focused team that wants to hurry up and get this game over with. Red Devil faithful know that in past few years the JVs, Frosh and middle school has faired well against the Purples. I think the dominant wins by Purples varsity squads last couple of seasons has made some of the fan base and alumni from Devils question their coaching staff. Devils has some athletes and if they can hold on to the ball and keep Purples offense off field the game could get interesting. I think Red Devils believe the only way to settle the grumbling and rumors is to take care of business Friday night. If they lose again, not so sure grumbling won't become even more vocal. Owensboro will be a dangerous team but I feel Purples has too many weapons. 45 - 14 Purples

Freshman Purples finish season 7-1. Undefeated in state of Kentucky and very few scores put up against them. Good job young Purples!

4 time player in this game! 2 years in Middle School and now 2 years as Frosh and sophomore. He was 1 of 4 captains on last year freshman team. Although Vito is getting limited touches per game, he is still on pace to compete as all time scoring leader of BGHS, currently held by last years Mr Football, Jamale Caruthers. Coach Wallace has primarily used Vito on defense this season. I predict Vito will be used as much on offense than on defense in weeks 3 and 4 of playoffs, pending they get there. I would say very few players will have chance to play in this game 6 times (7th grade - Senior year). Vito still can do that. He will be the highest recruited player, so far, to have ever played for BGHS, IMO. I think he will be a 5 star by or before his senior season. Last week, South Warren only threw it to his side of field 1 time. He intercepted ball and ran for 30+. Awesome player. Congrats!

Purples finally got to do their thing vs the Spartans of South Warren last Friday night. Although it is just chatter that doesn't amount to anything, I am thankful that Coach Smith at South Warren told the Daily News (Bowling Green Newspaper) that it was him that kept pushing the game off between them and the Purples. There was some talk amongst some fans, pointing the finger to one another, of who would not play who. I can now admire and appreciate Coach Smith for knowing the vision he had for their program and sticking to his game plan of choosing not to play the Purples until he had to. Although I bleed Purple and loved the outcome of the game between the two schools, I do think the Spartans and Purples could see each other again. I don't think that Christian County offense is as quick as Purples offense. If South can hold on to the ball and keep Christian County offense off the field, I think South Warren will have the first major upset in class 5A in week 2 of playoffs. We have a lot of ball to play before then and certainly a lot of ball to play until Lexington but I am hoping my young Purples team gets a shot at arguably the best team Covington Catholic has ever had. That game would be a lot of fun (and a lot of offense). Don't want to get ahead of myself too much but it is fun to think about!

Purples will put last Friday's big win behind them (as they should) and focus on task at hand. Get running clock as fast as possible and get all starters out of game. No emphasis this week on padding any players numbers. Get the win and head back to the house as quick as possible. WITHOUT INJURY! 46-6 Purples

It is actually a rule that Coach Wallace at BGHS (and I am sure many other coaches) has used quite well. If you know for sure that your field goal kicker can at least get it to end zone from 40 or more it is a smart move to attempt. It gives you a chance at 3 points but if you miss, opposing team has to go 80 yards. The only negative about that train of thought is chance of a bad snap but you would have same chance of a bad snap on a punt. For whatever reason, most coaches will choose to punt. If you have a kicker with enough leg - go for the 3. If he misses, it is as good as a punt.

KHSAA STATS FOR BuCANNON: 16 - 21 338 Yards 5 TDs

Beau BuCANNON goes 12-17 for 308 yards with 5 TDs. First year starter is off to a GREAT start. Through 9 games he has thrown for 1,640 yards, completing 64% of his passes with 19 TDs and ZERO INTs. Keep it up, Beau!!

The stats for BG QB, Beau BuCANNON will be his best, by far. 2 drops would have added at least 1 more TD. I know most South fans will talk about the many turnovers (the turnovers really did hurt them) but the bottom line is SPEED. It is so difficult to stop speed at any level, especially high school. South Warren really does hit hard. Very impressed with their pursuit of the ball. I believe 43 is most points ever scored on South. Score could have been worse. This season is the chance to win against BGHS, IMO. Next couple of years, forget about it. Ill post more when I see the stats. Not many teams in Bluegrass would have beat the Purples tonight.

Not trying to be a hater but if Greenwood scores 28 on you, you have 0 chance to go very far in 5A playoffs.
