I don't know the teams from Adam, but I'll tell ya, I'm not a big fan of West Carter's coaches comments in that article. "It'd be nearly financially impossible for us to sustain being in that district for 4 years because of the two long trips." It's a 2 hour drive on a Friday night... That shouldn't be that unbearable. Not ideal? Sure. But doable.

What do they coach? Did they come in with Coach Dilts last season?

I suppose in my mind I would: 1. Play my system 2. Try to win the game (obviously) 3. If within those two things, I think we can gain some kind of mental edge for the post season, I might try to do that as well. However, I don't think that is much of an option, because if their best player isn't playing. No matter if you win or lose, they are going to point at the fact that their best player didn't play when they watch the film, and they are probably going to think they are different team with him on the floor.

What does Coach Shields coach? JV?

You do what you normally would do.... If you are ranked that high you have your bread and butter defense (even if you aren't ranked that high) and you stick to your guns. You should know what you are good at by that time.

Any from any outside of the top 2 or 3 teams worth mentioning? Not saying those guys aren't great asst coaches or candidates, just wondering if there are any less "obvious" ones.

I would think Coach R gets paid better than the normal private school coach? He has to right? I mean he moved halfway across the country to take this job....

Hmm... The McCarter led teams. I thought that was longer ago.... Regardless. Point was, it isn't done every day down there. Not something that you walk in the door and do there.

Do you know how many times in the last decade, probably 2 decade, SG has won 20 games? One... Tony was at the helm. And it wasn't just one player that was on that team that was REALLY good. That was a good team and they knew what they were doing. Now, Pelle was his star. But most really good teams have one kid they rely on more than others. And he knew when to move onto greener pastures. He's a great coach and a great guy. Would be a great candidate. Of course this is all speculation. As of right now Coach Ruthsatz will be sitting at the head of the bench next season.

He is a very good coach. He coached a kid that went on to be d2 player of the year I believe.

Matter of opinion. Many in Indiana love their system.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to be at state, but I did see them at regional, and I enjoyed when they would do the "He's scared! He's shakin'!..." when the otehr team was at the line, and get louder and louder as the other team got closer to shooting. Those dudes absolutely lost their minds for those 10 seconds while the kids was shooting!

PRP celebrated while Mr. Basketball caught the long ball on the run to hit the layup at the buzzer... Nothing emphasizes the joy of victory or the agony of defeat like these classic games.

This is where stats can show you a lot... Losing because they aren't hitting from the field, but managing to stay in the game because they aren't turning the ball over and are knocking it down from the line...

Wow... I mean. Isn't that conflict of interest or something? Side note, I don't know Mike as anything more than an official and certainly am not accusing him of anything. I just question the practice....

In '99 I was in the 5th grade and made my first trip to the state tournament with my dad. We left Wednesday after school. Missed Thursday and Friday. Largely the only 2 days of the school year I would miss. Went on that way through high school. Because my attendance (and grades) were fine the rest of the time, the school never had a problem with letting me go. I was 'sick' but by high school everyone (including the school) knew where I was. It wasn't a battle worth fighting for them. So my thought is... If you do it the right way, there's no problem with it.

Don't know anything about the situation besides what's been written here and that they are a far stronger program than they were in the early to mid 2000's. It is always sad when someone from the outside comes into the administration of your school and makes decisions that alumni ashamed to call themselves so. Been there. Done that.

Is Adam Clary as the AD allowed to hire another Clary?

In this case, I definitely agree... They really limit themselves in their thinking...

Is there anyone in house they might consider? Were all of the assistants "Starkey" assistants rather than Villa assistants?
