  1. If the throw wasn't on the plate, then he's likely safe. Agree?
  2. How many were down 1 with no outs in the 9th?
  3. The situations are different. Plus a caught stealing is an aggressive mistake, which are much more tolerable than boneheaded mistakes.
  4. For the life of me I can't figure out why I should tip for getting my own food while you bring me a water at the beginning of my meal.
  5. Steve Smith is a terrible third base coach.nthat being said, I would have sent Jay last night as well. I was there and the play right in front of me. Had to be a perfect throw to get him. It just looks bad because of the other recent awful decisions he's made in that department. Now, Heisey? I would fine him. And give him a nice unspoken relegation to the bench for about 2 weeks. Simply zero explanation for that besides he wasn't paying attention.
  6. I love traveling to see new places. But I also love the feeling I get when I return back to the NKY/Cinci area and see that beautiful skyline driving through the cut in the hill.
  7. I'll take your one Brady and show you about 100 6th round QB's that were career backups and never started a game...
  8. If he's not that still set the market... The Cubs got a top prospect in return for him.
  9. Didn't the domino fall when Smardzija was traded? :idunno:
  10. I'm all for the Cards trading as much of their minor league system as possible.
  11. I would put the odds of a Reds/Cards deal at about the same odds of Jay Bruce going 4 for 4 with 2 HR's and 6 RBI tonight...
  12. A quick look tells me the Reds should really be on the phone with the Dodgers asking about the kids Pederson and Seager.... Both top position prospects that look like they can really hit at AA and AAA. Maybe they wouldn't give them both up, but maybe they would... Cueto pitching in the big NL West ballparks could lower his ERA to a silly number... And can you imagine going into the playoffs and looking down a 1/2 of Kershaw/Cueto???:scared:
  13. As much as I hate to say it, Cueto would be the one I'd be willing to part with. Lets face it, about 4 months ago no one was sure his delivery was even sustainable and that he wouldn't spend his career on the DL. We're likely not going to be able to resign him. We're not in the race. So ask for 2 top prospects and be selective. You want guys that are as close to ML game ready and very talented. You should be able to get that, especially if dealing the best starting pitcher on the market. Someone will give it up. I'd also get what I could for Simon, which with the way the SP market is, they could get a decent haul back for. And I'd probably look at trading Broxton too and see what I could get back for him. If we do all that, it should create a reasonable return. Don't know if I'd trade Chapman yet... Got to give people a reason to come to games. Best case scenario, we get a top prospect bat to stick in LF next year from the get go and young ML ready pitcher that could work as the #4 or #5 guy and find a couple bullpen arms and we can compete next year.
  14. There is really no reason at all to do the Oklahoma drill.... Rey made a comment on it yesterday about how most young guys like it but most old guys just try to get through it. These guys make a living beating their bodies to a pulp. No reason to put to do that even more for a drill that doesn't improve them... It really serves no purpose whatsoever.
  15. Would you be more interested in baseball if there was a salary cap? Maybe that's a question for a different thread...
  16. The idea has merit... There have been numerous times rules have been changed even in baseball to swing the pendulum back to hitters. And I definitely see a point in that it pretty much eliminates one kind of hitter...
  17. As much as no one here likes him, there were more than a few teams lining up for his services. Along with Indy, And Charlotte, there was apparent interest from New York, and if Houston woulda taken back Parsons, Lance woulda been in Dallas.
  18. He wanted less years and the Pacers weren't willing to offer it.
  19. Where does this inside info come from.... I guess I'm just struggling with Mr C being okay with a plan that hoped for losing.
  20. Surprised he didn't go to Houston. But this can be his team now.
  21. Reds need a bat at the break. Big time. It literally could be anywhere but catcher at this point. But they need an impact bat without giving up Stephenson and without taking on a big contract. If you're Walt, who do you call and ask about as trade options?
  22. I agree with you definitely worth the call
  23. Would be interesting. Would definitely strengthen the bench even when/if Joey comes back. But can he play 1st? I like the way Todd is playing 3rd. And I'd be interested to hear what it would cost us.
  24. They're already playing a man short ain't they? I thought they were one heavy in the pen and one short on the bench right now.
