  1. That is assuming he's not lining up opposite Aaron Hernandez for the Mean Machine..
  2. And was caught with a pound of weed, for good measure...
  3. They compare him talent wise to Calvin Johnson. Someone is going to pick him somewhere... Where would you take him? Or would he be off your draft board?
  4. I'm interested to hear thoughts on Green-Beckham...
  5. IF they do sign Johnny, if they sign him for anything more than about 3-4 years, it's a bad deal. Also, he would need to give them a heavy discount. If they sign him at market value, it will be a mistake for the team. We will watch for the next 3 years as we hope Johnny can throw CG shut outs so the Kevin Greggs of the world try to hold a lead (because there is no bullpen money to spend if we sign JC), then the next 3-4 years after that, we hope and pray he doesn't get hurt or we're literally going to have to run out a minor league team. Also, if we sign Johnny, you can forget signing anyone upcoming... Leake, Fraz, Bruce, Chap, etc..
  6. They did exactly what you say in 2012... They said screw the future and went for it. For all intents and purposes, they had the best team in the NL that year, and abruptly lost their minds after getting a 2-0 lead ON THE ROAD, to refresh your memory. If we hadn't 'went for it,' we'd probably be looking at a very different team right now... The past 3-4 years, we've also signed at least one awful contract (Homer), one contract that's looking shaky (Bruce), and one that was probably market value but not something the Reds could afford (BP) and one that was expensive, but great, but you better not sign 3 bad others behind it (Votto)...
  7. Btw... Those in this thread saying Votto is worth the money were singing a different tune last year I can almost guarantee it.
  8. They're in the position they're in now because I'm 2012 they "went for it" and traded their upper level position player prospects.
  9. You'd have far more ppl agreeing with you if you just said the Reds need to improve their farm system and coaching staff... By the way... Is trading for prospects a viable way to improve a farm system?
  10. It certainly works out far more often than you are implying. No, every top 10 prospect doesn't become an all star. But many become above average players. Not to be harsh, but the Hamilton deal is a terrible one to refer to because it's anything but an ordinary case. Quite honestly, Hamilton was about 9 months removed from being a drunk, and the Reds had every right to believe he was a ticking time bomb...
  11. Prospects are under team control for 6 years though?
  12. Well shoot! Why didn't I think of that! Now we just need a billionaire to purchase the club!
  13. So your theory is they aren't going to win unless they expand the payroll?
  14. I'm really glad you're not running the ball club
  15. I want to say Meso isn't ready to get in a crouch for 9 innings yet.... But dang he looked darned good on the tag up from 2nd to 3rd on the fly ball to left running and sliding didn't he?
  16. Need a pop up or ground ball... Let's go middle away with this pitch here...
  17. About 4 years ago Corcino could have got them a good ML player...
  18. Stephen A. is opinionated but at least usually has some kinda logic behind what he says. Even if it is flawed most of the time. He's more annoying because he's so loud an animated about it most of the time. Skip Bayless is an idiot. There is no nice way to put it. He's a joke and a sideshow. He rarely makes any sense and it seems like he is usually simply trying to stir the pot.
  19. Honestly, I eat chicken at Wendy's and Sonic, and I find it tough to stomach Burger King since I got food poisoning from the 2 for 5 king deal. Though I did enjoy the double stack and maybe once a year still do. There is no Hardees near me. Micky D's ftw... This thread has made me realize how little of the time I eat burgers anymore...
  20. Because they have to play them 18 times throughout the year so it's gonna happen like that sometimes.
  21. What kind of competitor would answer yes to that question? I get it that Cards have owned the Reds, but the Reds have their top 3 on the bump, they've been hitting the ball, and it's April. You can't give in to a team... :banghead::banghead:
  22. So whats the answer? I think I know it but didn't know if I should post and ruin the fun. Yet I want to know if I'm correct. Lol
  23. And what are you going to do tomorrow? And the next day? If you pitch Chapman in the 8th....
  24. I seriously think that the 8th inning guy right now should be Cingrani... I saw a lot of chatter last night about oh Bryan Price misuses the bullpen again. I honestly think he did what he should've done last night in terms of selection of pitchers. Where I question Price is a lot of game management stuff... Votto should've been bunted to 3rd. And for that matter, IF you don't bunt him to 3rd, if Hamilton was available, which they said he was, he should be running for Joey there. Worst that happens is at the half inning Hamilton goes to CF, Negron to 3B, Frazier to 1B. on the double switch, why take our your best arm and pop? Why was the middle infield in on that last play? If they are back where they are supposed to be, you turn 2 there and we're still playing. The players made some boneheaded moves too... I think I learned in 3rd grade you don't make the 1st out of the inning at 3rd base Joey. Badenhop/Pena had Alcanterra looking silly to get to 0-2 on breaking stuff down and away and they said 'I KNOW! LETS GO INSIDE RIGHT HERE!' If you're Cozart and are going to go to 3rd on that pick off, you HAVE to get there or it's a boneheaded play. You can score from 2nd. Some of that stuff I just don't get it.
  25. Badenhop and Diaz need not go anywhere yet... Gregg and Parra can go. At this point, who is your 8th inning guy? Cingrani? Hoover?!? :scared:
