  1. Heard Calvarys trio battled foul trouble all night. Nevertheless, that's quite a defensive effort from BB.
  2. Not surprised by the outcome as thought this one could go either way... Surprised by the margin! Ludlow really defends but Calvary has 3 VERY solid players in Rusch/Riley/Wade! Ludlow must have really showed up to hold that trio down!
  3. Seemed like Ryle may have been a bit flat to start, and Dayton had them lost in the half court vs the zone. There is a lot of parity in the D3 teams this year. Dayton has a solid team and knocked off Ludlow who has ran that conference the last couple years. A number of the small schools have played with traditional "power" schools of larger divisions, but numbers, fatigue, and fouls usually catch up to them, as is the nature of small schools. Along with this result, Bellevue losing to Brossart by 6 and played Ryle tough early, Ludlow lost to St. Henry by 10, and St. Henry led Villa by only a bucket or two in the fourth before pulling away late come to mind as games that fall into this category.,There are some quality players in the small school division, with Hall and Garcia of Dayton being two of them. Will be quite a battle the next couple months for those schools.
  4. Kinda surprised this was such as low scoring game...
  5. The last two evenings, Robertson has outshot their opponents from the FT Line 73 to 18.
  6. Big turnaround from night one to night two for the Panthers... more to do with the opponent or just the way they played?
  7. Sounds like on the biggest play of the game the 'little kids' were able to outmuscle the grown men...
  8. Beechwood beat Dayton earlier this week. Not sure on the score.
  9. Bourbon and Villa was pretty tightly contested throughout. Bourbon took the first half and Villa the second. Bracken led Trimble throughout. They won that one pretty handily. Didn't see the late games.
  10. At Paris Panorama today they had: Bourbon County v Villa Madonna Bracket County v Trimble County Pendleton County v Model Paris v Butler County
  11. All due respect, no dog in the fight, but if you think because you spoke with one parent you know the entire story of why a game was schedule where it was, you are terribly misinformed... Scheduling games is a collaborative process that, between coaches, AD's, officials associations, conference affiliations, district seeding, etc., is extremely complicated. So when your team isn't able to find a date there are a lot of behind the scene legitimate reasons. No one is doubting that... Then why are you doubting another school?
  12. Quite a few games have ended comparable to this one in one point fashion... I guess when you play 138 of em that'll happen. The one that comes to mind for me was 06 in the mud pit that was Bellevues field where Dayton scored to tie it with less than a minute left only to shank the XP. Then after trading TDs in OT Bellevue went for 2 and ended up getting stopped giving the Greendevils a 1 point win that night as well. Recent history doesn't show it, but there have certainly been some thrillers in the series...
  13. Bet Bellevue Gold Star was probably an interesting place to be tonight at about 10 PM...
  14. 2007 season was the last time Dayton won. First game for the "paddle"... That year I believe the Greendevils reached the top 5 in the state before being upset by the Tigers in the playoffs Great win for those kids, the coaching staff, and the entire community... Those games are the ones kids from those two towns always remember and nice to see the kids in green be on the good side for the first time in awhile.
  15. Any idea who the candidates are that got interviews?
  16. I'm going to throw this out there. This is a tough hire, because not only do you have to have a guy with the knowledge of the game, but you have to have one that has the unique personality to be able to simultaneously have control of AND the respect of the players. Some schools you can't walk in with experience and the badge of coach and get the kids to play for you and IMO this is one of them. I just hope whoever they hire is the right fit for the school in those terms.
  17. MSJ is a great spot for anyone to play right now. Coach C is demanding, but plays an attractive style of basketball and has the Lions in contention at the top of the conference every year. Believe they are coming off their first NCAA appearance and 2nd consecutive conference regular season title.
  18. Any rumors on applicants? Their assistants were Volpenhein and Sparks. Or external applicants possibly?
  19. Right game, but your memory deceives you on the ending. 1996 season. On the last play of the game, down 4, rather than give it to their All State back Skirvin, the Greendevils opted to play fake and Jerry Cline threw low to Neil Richardson in the back of the end zone. The Tigers would go on to not be challenged the remainder of the playoffs and continue their 1A dynasty in the 90's. Many many many what ifs fall around that game in that small town... What if Skirvin got the ball? What if Cline would've tried to run it in? Fair or not, the general consensus is that if they could've just gotten by the Tigers the Greendevils would've claimed their first state championship in 30 years that year. I've talked to quite a few folks that were involved in that game from both sides that thought that while they weren't the better team that night, the Greendevils were probably the better team on the field that year...
  20. NCC too many turnovers at the end and PLD was allowed to get away with a lot of hands on dribblers.
