Not shure why you are dismissing PT so easily ATL. They may not be a number 1, but if you had actually seen the game, you may not have felt the score was indicative of the whole games performance.

Maybe PT doesn't , but I wouldn't give Caldwell a one way ticket to the championship game either based on PT lost their starting QB early in the second quarter. If you don't think that has a huge impact, well then----- Not to take anything away from Caldwell, good game

I still would not say the PT/Caldwell winner would top 3. I think a convincing win either way could very well put them in the argument for the 4 spot, but not top 3 at this point. My point being look what those top 3 have doing for many years in a row- Many have claimed for years that 3A is "weak", and now with a few new very good teams in the mix, many are taking note of how good a class it is. My point is that if you look at the top of the 3A , the top 2-4 teams have been doing well for years, and have been able to play with anybody in the state. These facts are what I would base the top 3 rankings on, in addition to what they have done so far this season. Therefore, I still would stick with the top 3 as is regardless of the PT/Caldwell game. Like I said previously, a convincing win might argue the winner a 4 spot, but also would shake up the 5-8 spots.

Should be a good one. Both teams have big play capabilities. Score keeper will be active.

That is a good point, many want to be around the game but very few want to be "The guy"

That has seemed to be the case most years, Belfry has a great program, but it seems to have the smoothest road to the title game. With Boyle, Lex Cath, Central, PT, and possibly this year Caldwell in the west, their will be many state-title worthy games possibly 1-2 rounds out from the title game.

Another question, other than Belfry, who are the other legitimate contenders in districts 5-8?

Madisonville may be a bit of an enigma at this point in the season. They got hammered early in the year by some very good teams but bounced back last week and hammered Union co. So is this a Dr.Jekyll / Mr. Hyde team, or are they just now getting things figured out? Last year the Maroons had a huge front line that gave PT fits all night but I believe many of them graduated so how will that play into the outcome? PT as well is still answering questions about their identity, they have not played a quality four quarters yet. They have showed ability to move the chains and put up points, but on other times they falter. The line appears to be the key factor in how their game plan goes. So I guess both teams have more questions than answers, but I am going to go with PT as their offense has more breakaway capability on any given play. PT 29-14

Tilghman once again has some very dynamic athletes whom if they can get into open space, makes things happen. PT routinely puts players in the next level, and that is the reason the PT faithful remain optimistic. They are always a factor in state at track, and put many of those athletes on the football field. We have a good qb, a good stable of rb's, and some good wr's. However, our undersized line on both o and d has a long ways to go, and our defense has been way inconsistent. When you lose the battle in the trenches, not a whole lot else matters.

I think Rogers finally has PT heading back in the right direction. We have several seniors, I believe 21, but only 9 of those return from last years team. Rogers has been "recruiting the halls" and nearly doubled our roster from last year. We have been on a terrible run in this series to the point it has lost some of its luster, however I believe this could be our year to turn things around. It is hard for me to get a good read on the Cardinals yet because of their opponents, but they took care of business, and I know they will not beat themselves. Last week we got beat by a much bigger and better Central Hardin team, but the only thing I had a real question about was our kicking game. If we have cleared up that issue, then the Big Blue will be prepared to give the redbirds a game this series deserves again. So I will take PT at home by a bump. PT 23 Mayfield 21
