Boyle County retains the top spot after a huge win by Central. Does Central have a real argument for that position? Belfry is still playing without some key starters. Will they be back this week? Or, are the Pirates going to have to do without them? Are people not paying enough attention to Caldwell County? How good is Bell County? Who should move up this week? Who has a good chance of dropping?

Lot of trap games on that list.

 

 

I could see all 9 teams who play this week winning...I could also see 3 or 4 teams leaving people asking "How did they lose to ____________ "

The knock on Central is the loss to Knox Central. To be honest I am still not sure what the heck happened there. Knox is very slow footed and struggled with a Harlan County team that Belfry put away early in the 2nd Quarter. I am just going to view that loss as a "throw away" result.

 

 

No official word on Belfry but the indication is that both Corbett and Willis return this week.

 

Caldwell is getting more and more attention and have went from unranked to Top 5. Caldwell needs a statement win. Right now a "good" loss to Christian County is the most impressive part of their resume. If Caldwell can beat Tilghman in a couple weeks suddenly they will have everyone's attention... if they beat Tilghman and Mayfield they become a Title threat.

 

I am not very high on Bell County at all. Though they are 3-1 their wins have been against a bad Middlesboro team, they beat a mediocre Pike Central team in a game that was in jeopardy until the 4th Quarter, and beat an average Wayne County team. The Bobcats have some serious holes in that Defense and aren't especially deep or fast.

Not really.

 

Corbett remains a question mark just like he was entering the season. He is a kid with a special skill set and has big play potential, but he also is the same kid that Belfry was having timing issues and fumbled exchanges prior to the season. No doubt Belfry becomes a scarier team to gameplan for with Corbett's home run ability... but the Browning kid did an excellent job of managing the offense.

 

Willis helps. He is Belfry's best big play back and looked very good against Tates Creek. He is probably the fastest Belfry HB by a good bit. He also is a solid CB and adds help there.

 

Belfry is better with both guys back... but they still remain a bit of a question mark until we see Corbett deal with adversity. Luckily with this stretch of 3 games I think you will get to see that.

I am just answering his question with my honest assessment.

 

Wayne County is not a "very good" team. They are a team who has wins against a very bad Perry Central and a very bad South Laurel teams. They are better than Pike Central certainly, but a long way away from being a signature win. As I said, they are average.

 

Bell County may be improving, but thusfar the only true litmus test we have is that they were ran off the field by a very good Boyle team and they squeeked a win over an average Wayne County team. I think bell deserves to be in that 10-13 range in the class.
