  1. Think you're taking my comments wrong and if I typed it wrong, my apology. I know they wanted Jones back and made a nice offer for sure. To keep him however, they were going to have to overpay because of his desire to be a 1. They were not going to overpay though. I think ultimately they'd overpay for Eifert over jones. Eifert is a rarer commodity than Jones. I do worry however about Green staying healthy and Eifert for that matter. Also, I'm still not sold on Green's ability in big games. He sure has games where there is little production.
  2. If you think they would rather have kept Jones over Eiffert I will disagree with you. But what do I know. The word great is way overused and again I would not call their passing offense great. When I think of a great passing offense I think of the Colts with Manning, Brady with Welker, Gronk, Hernandez, Faust and the Chargers, The Fun Bunch. Marino and the Marks. I'm not putting the Bengals with those.
  3. Defintely didn't mean anything other than to say there were 2 really good games and 1 decent one. A 2-0 game at any level of high school is fun to watch imo. Sorry if it didn't come across that way.
  4. I've always been about Waylon. It wasn't until he passed that I started listening to Merle. Boy was I missing out. What a talent. Regret that I never saw him in concert. Old country just about gone now.
  5. I'm not sure that I would call the Bengals passing game great last year with both Jones and Sanu there. Good or very good, yes. Great, no. Jones was not retained because they have no intention of letting Eifert get away and couldn't afford all of them.
  6. Cold day but some pretty good games besides the NCC/CCH game. CCH beat Ryle 4-3 in game 1 with walk off single. Ryle beat Dixie in game 2 I believe 7-2. Was scheduled for four games but cold delayed start. A bunch of heaters and tents set up to help with cold and wind. Quite the difference from last year when it was over 80 but still a great day.
  7. I'm a UK fan but really was rooting more for X this year to get to final four. What a really tough way to lose but the experience of being there before proved big imo. Up 8 or 9, I think X thought it was over. Either way, X was really fun to watch this year.
  8. I am ready to move on from cincy bell. Picture had to freeze up 20 or more times today. My brother has time warner and doesn't care for it much. For those with direct tv, how many issues do you have when it's cloudy/storming. A friend has it and says most issues they have with reception are in winter.
  9. The Who and Van Halen in 80/81. Seen them 20 something times and last years show was suprinsingly good, especially Ed, but would have loved to have seen them back then. They just personified rock and roll and the decadence. One current band I would like to see is Foo Fighters. They seem to just like what they do and always seem to do a cover song or two in their concerts paying homage to those they listened to growing up.
  10. Kind of off the subject but did Hayes ever say why he left cincy for same position at Tampa? Maybe a chance to move up the ladder eventually that he thought he wouldn't get here?
  11. Was just getting ready to post that this beginning of Raw has Shane written all over it and boom... There he is. Been a long time.
  12. I thought the same. I always thought Dent was like Dave Concepcion. Really good bordering on great with a great team but as team aged and wasn't as great, thought he loafed. I realize Dent is in HOF but thought he did his damage from 84-88. Fencik, Singletary and Marshall really came across as genuine I thought. Great 30/30.
  13. How does Tony Dungy get in ahead of Jimmy Johnson and Tom Flores? I know they both had unsuccessful runs at Miami and Seattle respectively but Johnson built an incredible machine at Dallas that just blew teams away and Flores won 2 Super Bowls, was an assistant on one and played on one. I thought Dungy had incredible teams at Tampa that couldn't win a big game. Gruden comes in and wins right away.
  14. No doubt!! I know last year in February and March they were plowing snow off the football field at CCH in order to practice. Piled 6' high in both end zones. New field this year, don't see it happening!! If I'm not mistaken we've received more snow the last few years in February and March than we did in Jan.
  15. One guarantee is that ESPN, cbs, nbc and the nfl network will all want the Bengals/Steelers matchup. All the same channels who the majority of their talking heads condemned both teams and 2 players in particular, especially Father Phil Simms and Sister Mary Jim Nantz who were " shocked and outraged" at the violence of the last two games. No doubt they will all want it and the commercials the week before will all show those same hits over and over. And no doubt the announcers for the game will lead off with "we hope we just get a good clean game with no extracurriculars". The producers in the truck will be laughing while they say this!!
  16. Agreed. I'm not sure what ratings have been like over last 9-12 months but have to be down. I've also wondered what ratings are throughout the 3 hours. I generally watch first and last half hour and peek in between.
  17. It tells you about half their roster is missing. Besides the injuries, Lesnar is not even part time and they lost Punk a while back. Roster is thin at best. Missing major personalities. Don't get to watch as often but when I do I always wish they'd go back to two hours.
  18. If Skal comes out after this year, he's out of the league after his rookie contract. He's a few years from being ready and that's ok. Some develop later than others and adjust to college later than others.
  19. There is no defense for Cam because no one has anyone on their roster to simulate him in practice. This should be a good test in Super Bowl of a great D vs a great qb. When I heard Aikman talk about Carsons finger affecting his performance, I started laughing. Didn't think his finger had anything to do with continual throws into double coverage.
  20. I am also amazed that she has any cred. She quit her job halfway through to supposedly protect and be with her family. Then she was all over Fox News on an almost nightly basis and did book tours, etc.. She carried very little cred with me in 2008 and even less now. I never thought I'd say this about myself but this may be the first time in my life that I don't vote. Both sides have people running who scare the heck out of me. If you don't like who's running, how do you vote for someone? I have never voted for someone just because they have an R or D next to their name. Not starting now.
  21. Cesaro is a great wrestler. I hate to hear that he is out. They can build around him.
  22. Clyde, would you have voted for Koufax because if so you would have voted for 5 or 6 strong seasons. Granted, they may be the 5 or 6 strongest in history of game. If you look at his numbers though, very ordinary first 6 seasons or so.
  23. Wow. Maybe HHH needs to come back!! If all these guys are out, then Ambrose should be champ. Lot of personality. I don't care for him but something makes me think it will be Kevin Owens.
  24. President Obama was able to bring many people out to vote who didnt normally do so. That is a very big reason he was able to win. Those same voters are not coming out to vote for a normal election like gov, senate races, etc...
