The one goal Brossart/Paulin allowed against Highlands was an own goal. Shoulda/woulda/coulda been 8 SOs for Paulin. He's good, but it's hard to stop the other eleven AND one of your own!

CovCath could be the #4 seed, and run away with this District. Doesn't matter what their seed is. Much ado about nothing.

I conferred with a ref, and he confirmed this statement. In this particular situation, the offense did not ask for the ten yards, so they were free to initiate the play at their discretion. The offensive player simply measured the situation in front of him, and when the opportunity presented itself, he capitalized. It all happened rather quickly (the spot of the ball, the attempt to construct the wall, the movement of the keeper off the near post, the ensuing shot). The Scott keeper, nor the defense, protested the play. And as earlier referenced, if the Center felt the play was illegal, he would have nullified the goal and ordered a restart. As I originally stated, simply a clever play.

Scott was first team to attempt. Brossart keeper saved their second shot. All other nine shots found the netting, for a 5-4 advantage. The Scott keeper had a hand on the final Brossart attempt, but not enough to stop it from rolling beyond the line. It was that kind of game, and that close.

According to NFHS rules, "Whistle used for kickoff, penalty kicks, and to signal play stoppage such as fouls, injuries, substitutions and to signal restart after substitutions, injuries and time stoppage. Well played, physical game (as expected) by both teams. Two clever goals by Henn: the first was a free kick from about 25 yds out. Ball was spotted, the keeper was setting his wall (we've seen this many times .. the keeper leaning on the near post). As soon as the keeper moved off the post and moved toward the other end of the net, Henn shot right over the wall where the keeper had been standing. I really don't think the keeper ever saw the shot, it happened so quickly. The second shot was a heel shot, kicking a loose ball past the keeper (similar to the NCC game, but this time, there was no defender on the back post. Scott is a solid team, and Schneider has skill .. lots of skill. He had two players marking him, split the defenders and beat the keeper at close range on his goal. On the second Scott goal, Brossart keeper and defense were adamant player on far post was in offsides position, but their plea fell on deaf ears. On a side note (and hate to be picky regarding volunteers who give of their time and talent), but we don't need play-by-play (literally) from the PA announcer. Announcing substitutions, or whom scored is acceptable, but describing the action like a radio announcer is overkill. He was comical at times ("just a bit outside"), but WAY ... TOO ... MUCH ... PLAY-BY-PLAY.

Was anyone there? I'd love to hear some details. I'm sure it was an intense game, especially if 1-nil until late in the game.

Solid game by both squads. Both keepers made some nice saves; the one referenced above, where the Brossart keeper came out and challenged the attacker at the 16-yard mark was clearly the defensive play of the game for BBHS. And for NCC, the defender at the back post made a crucial stop on the clever heel-ball by Henn. Officiating was not an issue for either team, as the CR allowed a fairly physical game to be played by both teams. I think Brossart had more opportunities, but NCC pounded on the door several times late, especially on nice throw-ins and corner kicks. Basically, Brossart executed one more play than NCC, which was enough.

So Treadway misses key District matches against CampCo and Brossart? Regardless of the outcome in the seeding games, this should make the District tournament VERY interesting.

NCC travels to Pendery Park on Wednesday for a 5pm match against Bishop Brossart in an All A Sectional. The winner travels to the state tournament the following weekend in Elizabethtown, KY.

... and the hits just keep on coming (for the coaching staff at Scott HS). To be fair, it's difficult to judge exactly what is going on with the decisions/actions of the coaching staff. However, perception is reality to most. And the actions of the last few weeks, coupled with recent and not-so-recent history of red cards, flopping, questionable personnel decisions, all point to a lack of leadership.

It's very similar to leasing a car..every 12-18 months, you can get the latest product. I've never thought the financial logistics of a car lease work for me, but it's obviously a very popular program, because MANY do it.

JV did have a game at Simon Kenton. I also question the decision ... it's almost like the JV game took precedence over a Varsity game ... doesn't make sense. There were at least four Varsity contributors on the pitch at SK ... smh.

Agree ... 80 minutes is a long time to play rope a dope ... finesse and better skilled players will prevail, despite a solid NCC defense and solid keeper ... CovCath 3-nil

It's not obvious whom you believe the three teams are. Please elaborate.

KHSAA disqualifications are public record ... see KHSAA DQ Reports on File According to that report, 5 players were disqualified (red card) from the game (3 from Boone, 2 from Scott). I believe the punishment is removal from the game, plus two additional games. If so, the Scott players will miss a key district seeding game against Campbell Co on Tuesday 9/9.

I'm sure that is tongue-in-cheek. Even the most ardent Mustangs fans know that field is less than ideal.

I could see something like that actually happening. As people get older, their perspective changes, they get off the mice wheel, and enjoy giving back. It would be a challenge, but it might also be very refreshing. What a great story .. a HOF coach, coaching for the absolute joy of trying to help develop kids!! It would be a no-lose situation ... Dale could come out, show them how to build a program, get unbelievable publicity for the school, and teach them how to win. He would have rapt attention .. who wouldn't listen to him? No one actually believes they can win ... imagine if they actually beat someone?!

At the last realignment four years ago, Brossart was reclassified from 1A to 2A by the KHSAA, based on rolling two-year enrollment figures. However, at the time of the reclassification, the actual enrollment numbers had dipped back to 1A levels (and future enrollment projections indicated they would remain at that level). Both Principal Dick Stewart and Athletics Director Mel Webster traveled to Frankfort to plead the case to remain in the 1A classification, but the KHSAA rejected the case. Everyone at the time the decision was finalized predicted the eventual spiral that the football program would experience. They've done their best to keep noses above water, but it was inevitable. I agree with Mustang .. if they can survive this year, I believe the future will be competitive and sustainable.

That seems to back up Mustang's point (Districting seems only to be important to those of us negatively effected by the "open enrollment" mentality. Those schools who benefit by the "Open Enrollment" mentality embrace it.) very succinctly. No ambiguity there.

17 players (one RS) on last year's roster, and only 4 Seniors. Is that typical of a DII roster? Best of luck to Alex!! Enjoy the ride!
