Let's just go ahead and come out with it to end this debate! If you play out of your region you don't get to rank the officials! So before the opening tip the refs know that only one team at the end of the game will determine if they get to ref a district, regional or even a state contest. So do you think that team will get a lot of 50/50 calls? Or at least calls that keep them in the game? ABSOLUTLY! Until this matter is fixed and everyone gets to rank everyone it will never change. I've seen plenty of school come up to Northern Kentucky and get screwed. I've also seen my fair share or NKY teams head to Louisville or Lexington and get the same treatment. The refs are going to take care of their own because they determine their future!

Can anyone confirm that Holy Cross coach got tossed in this game? Hard to believe he would get his second tech in a blowout.

I believe Scherr was 2 asst. shy of a triple double and Schwartz was 3 blocks shy of one as well. At least according to stats on Maxpreps. Held had a really nice scoring night with 34 I believe. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. All in all Ryle came out hot in that game and Cooper never could recover. I even think Douthit set a new Ryle mark for 3's in a game.

Are you talking about Ryle at Conner or Cooper at Ryle?

Because those other states have thousands of schools where Kentucky only have 200 and something. Classes for basketball will water down the state title and not make it mean much. Nobody will ever know the true state champ. Let’s just give everyone a trophy and a participation ribbon while we’re at it.

I agree with everything your saying 110%! Like I said ,"grain of salt". I believe this is a good coaching staff and hopefully one day coach Richey will get that 9th region title as a coach. I was just curious as to what you thought. Most people get on here and make bold statements only to be some parent who thinks their kid will win their school a state title. My last sentence was more to "poke the bear" and see what you could respond with. Thanks for your insight!

Just ran through the numbers from 2002-03 to last year 15 year run 298-156 6 District Titles 1 Regional Finals Appearance 0 Regional Titles and lets not forget the infamous "stall ball" game in 2012 where they lost to NDA in the Regional Semi Finals 8-13 AGAIN, I think what coach Richey is an amazing person and coach just curious how the staff is "one of the best". Just a bold statement to me with not much to back it up.

33rd District with 3 teams in the top 6 and 5 players in the top 7!

This entire issue could be resolved if the state forces every district to seed. A blind draw is stupid IMO and ends up hurting the 2nd best team in the District if the draw goes wrong.

To me this "waters down" the award. Would a senior win this if it was open to everyone? Probably but the fact that it's a "Senior" only award doesn't make it a true POY IMO.

Just so everyone knows. Originally the state didn't take any stance on kids playing summer ball with another school prior to enrollment. The school itself may have such a rule that doesn't allow a kid to participate in summer activates if they are not enrolled (I could be wrong but I believe Highlands has this in place). Now, as of this year the State has changed their stance on that. A kid CANNOT participate in summer ball unless they are CURRENTLY enrolled in that school. Long story short, if they're playing summer ball with a team then their going to school there.

This is right up there with, "Lets give everyone a trophy" at the end of the year OR "Let's not hurt anyone's feelings". This crap is what's making this generation weak and not ready for the real world. When you go for a job interview do they break the potential employees up into classes based on your qualifications? NO, you get put into the pot with everyone else and you compete for the same job. Life if tough and at times unfair. DEAL WITH IT!

If everyone is honestly going to sit there and believe the KHSAA is going to step in and do something about this then you're in for a rude awakening. As we've seen time and time again NOTHING is ever done. They like to take a back seat and let things play out. I believe the girl from E-town is a senior and all the state is going to do is take their sweet time and not do anything at all. I've seen some boot leg footage of the action and I can't believe the officials didn't do anything more than a bogus warning and a "common" tech. These 3 should be ashamed of themselves. I would feel an investigation by the KHSAA into these officials should be more important that the player. From what I've heard the "out of region" coaches don't get to rank the officials after the game. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true than since SK was at E-town the only coach that got the rank these officials would be the E-town coach. Does that not set up an official being biased right out of the gate? If you know you're one chance to ref in the regional or even state for that matter lays in the hands of one out of the two coaches. Who do you think you're going to call a good game for?
