Said before and will say it again Redbook is the single biggest factor. Coaches and their staff would go. You are looking at 4-6 guys from every school and it was one of the few perks they get. Now? Your going to spend half your coaching stipend to go? No chance?

I believe Belfry has only missed the 15th Region Tournament about 10 times total in the history of the school and 2 times since 1978.

3 vs how many in football? 45 minute bus ride vs. 2 hour ride in football? Small chance of physically getting hurt vs. what in football? Entire post season over in 3-4 weeks vs 5 in football? The whining and moaning on the football list-serve this week is priceless too........

I don't know about that. I will say a lot of DI kids probably dropped football their Sr. year, but knowing the few coaches I know and their roster, many kids were top level athletes in other sports.

The 14th/international region is tough to play in if you do not play the go get players card. Feel sorry for the schools who play with hometown kids.....

JC is a lot better than they showed against Rowan Co. 15th is stronger top to bottom than the 16th and the 14th outside of Knott. Co.

I don't care what other teams in the school are allowed or not allowed to do. If the kid wanted to play, he would play. Ashland is freaking Ashland!!!! If their season comes down to a kid not playing because the coach has a rule about hair, facial hair, shoes,.....whatever, then their entire system is broken, from pee-wee, to grade school, to middle school. I've read on here kids will not play because Coach Biggs runs them in practice....are you serious? Running in basketball? Oh the inhumanity.......... They better not hire a college coach, they better hire a coach with a degree in child psychology as well as someone who is willing to completely rebuild Ashland basketball from pee-wee up.

Rules about hair length and facial hair are irrelevant. If a kid will not play because those rules, then they truly do not want to play. It is an excuse, and there are tons of them.

Did Howard play at Ashland?

He is a better coach than every coach in those districts listed, and that isn't meant as disrespect to any of those coaches. It will turn around a lot faster than most think....IF he stays....
