Should go by them number of wins of the teams you beat. I hope Coach McCoy is ok.

Inside the 15th Region (1-30-17)
Every team is flawed and has another team in the region that will exploit that flaw. I don't trust any of them to win 3 games in a row.

Ashland Blazer Basketball Players Are Leaving In Droves
Boys basketball has become softy central. You can't criticize a kids for not hustling, taking bad shots, not play d,.......gawd forbid you tell them to wear the same shoes, put their phones away before a game, or stop looking at their parents in the stands. Probably fire you on the spot for saying a mean curse word.....

Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better.

Inside the 15th Region (1-23-17)
The top team in the 15th region shouldn't lose to Scott WV. .........ever. Pikeville is the top team in my book. After that throw JC, ER, SC, and MC in a hat and draw one out. JC is very beatable, even by the 3rd tier teams, if someone gets up in Blair.

A Coach's Job
I've not seen to many fired recently for losing, a few, but not many. Most people with any knowledge of basketball can see a good coach, no matter wins and losses.

A Coach's Job
Build young men, a program, and win. They wouldn't keep score if wins wasn't important. You build young men by making them follow rules and having discipline. Something that is severely lacking in high school basketball in the eastern part of the state. You win and build a program by doing the same thing.

Home court means a lot in this region this year. Where are the districts held at?

Hatfield McCoy Shootout
It's started as exactly that. It has turned to getting some great teams to play local teams.

Hatfield McCoy Shootout
Tug Valley is a traditional A power in West Virginia. Their best player off last years team transferred to Mingo Central, he is a Marshall commit. They will have issues with the athleticism of Christian County. South Charleston is AAA and will be as athletic as Christian County. It will be the better game of the two. CC should win both.

Region is competitive, but it is as bad as it has ever been. I'd go - Magoffin Johnson Central East Ridge Sheldon Clark Pikeville Shelby Valley Belfry Lawrence

KHSAA Approves Pilot Program and Realignment for 15th Region in 2017-18
People want to say their coaches made it to the region, so we hired good people.

KHSAA Approves Pilot Program and Realignment for 15th Region in 2017-18
The 15th Region, as a whole, has had some very questionable hires. Look at the programs and watch some games.

No. 2 hour minimum

KHSAA Approves Pilot Program and Realignment for 15th Region in 2017-18
East Ridge, Phelps, and Jenkins going to Lawrence or Magoffin would be a right at a couple of hours.

KHSAA Approves Pilot Program and Realignment for 15th Region in 2017-18
This is the product of a people continually making bad/political hires in basketball. They aren't confident in the hires they make so they change the rules so everyone makes the tournament.

Alignment
Time on bus has no place in the discussion. Almost 100 miles from Phelps to Lawrence County. If EKY can do it so can WKY. 75 miles if you go through ANOTHER STATE.

Alignment
Going to have to start shifting teams west and east. Consolidation is done in the 15/16th after Floyd Central for the next 10 years I would assume.

KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament
Not to high, they are average in the scheme of things, but they are a matchup problem for anyone in Region and have 3 really nice scoring options. Coach Thompson is a victim of football playing until Dec., a middle school program that is very competitive but doesn't send a lot of kids to the HS program because they choose to play other sports, and a little league program that lacks facilities to practice. With that said I am for 4 team districts and against the super-regional.

KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament
I think we agree on a lot, just take different paths to get there. You are correct that the rankings will be a lot more clear after this weekend and next week.

Then why are they in your top 5?

KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament
Belfry is just getting into any kind of shape. A little over a month of basketball. Pikeville has potential, but has beaten no one. SF has under achieved but are dangerous. 57th may be strongest but those teams have glaring faults. They have all been exposed outside SC. JC has a 24 point loss and MC has an almost 60 point loss and been clocked one other time. JC and ER has the best coaches in the region. Styles make fights and matchups make ball games. Entire region shoots too many 3's and plays to little D.

KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament
Me too. I know who you are, and in no way am I putting you down. The region is down, competitive, but way down, so it is hard to rank because there are no dominant teams. JC, Magoffin, Belfry, ER, Sheldon Clark, Pikeville, and SF are better than everyone else. No more than a 10 point spread in any of them on a neutral floor, but Pikeville and SF are the weakest of that bunch.

KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament
No they won't. You'll still have meaningless games and home court will matter and who you have calling your games will matter. Have you watched a lot of 15th Region basketball? Some of the officials will call 16 different ways depending on home court, county it's played, and head coach. Not all, but some.
-
Magoffin County 56 Johnson Central 54
That's the game plan for a lot of teams in the 15th. Shoot a ton of 3's and hope they go in.
