  1. Thanks for the wealth of information regarding the HHS game this Friday. If you want to root for JC this Friday, I have one seat left in our van if you would like to attend the game. I'll get you to the game, but can't promise a ride back.
  2. Thanks for the information! I know if you ask Cooper's head coach, the back breaker in their game against JC was a tight end pass. Cooper practiced the coverage for that particular pass all week before the game, but unfortunately their defense wasn't perfect on that particular play. Not sure why HHS would want to leave anything in the bag.
  3. Last year was his first year on the job. The football team went 1-9. The year before he arrived they were 2-9. You have to go back 2 seasons before Mr. Meyers arrived for a winning record. He did not hire Mr. Deaton. He was not "kicked out" of Newport. Get your facts straight. Given a chance, Mr. Meyers will get the football team straight.
  4. Your point is well taken NameCips. The answer is known by any player that practiced this week, or during this week for the past 3 years. The freshman class is very talented and had an amazing season. I think that any parent/friend or player that made the transition during the previous 2007, 2008, or 2009 season, when their kids were freshman, thought just as you are now. These 38 guys are great athletes. However, there are plenty of varsity players that are available to, and will replace varsity players. Any upperclassman that dressed as a freshman during the previous playoffs, will tell these guys to enjoy the ride. It will be an awesome experience for them. There isn't any player or coach that is going into this game looking at it as a 40+ point spread. There is no such thing. They remember the Bryan Station game. The attitude is more like never underestimate your opponent.
  5. Right, because Dayton was riding so high before Scott Meyers was hired? You obviously have personal motivation for your statement. The football team was in shambles when Mr. Meyers arrived. Dayton has a smart, trustworthy man at the helms of their athletic department. Hopefully, they are smart enough to realize that.
  6. 1991 Holmes team had most of their state-runner up team back from 1990 (Hayes brothers, Pouncy, Kevin Elliers). Holy Cross (With Houston & Mclendon) beat them at the buzzer in the regional final and went on the the state semi finals. Highlands (Barlow, McSorley, Menefee) was #1 most of the '91 season beating Holmes early and that Holy Cross team on the final game of the regular season at Holy Cross. Most thought Holmes or Highlands would win the region.
  7. Nothing to do with what is posted, but it is concerning of how posts are posted, who posts them, and why they are posted. And it's just not about one post or one player. It is concerning that someone that has over 18,000 posts and who posts everything about all sports, all year long, who knows all about a player, suddenly posts and asks what position a specific HHS player plays, c'mon. Then, someone else who posts the play by play of the entire HHS vs. Ryle game, spins off it, and posts information regarding that player that is only partially correct. By mistake? And its concerning that the same someone doing the play by play post on this website, at the exact moment that HHS goes down 28-12 posts to fire up the bus, the win streak is over, yet while he is on the bus, calls out a player, that along with his teammates never quit until the clock ran out. My point is the praise or criticism of some isn't worth the words on the paper. Hear all, but listen to only those that you respect. However, don't disrespect those that don't respect you. Time to move on to this week's game
  8. Walter, great post. I think he'd be the first one to tell you how important that play could have been. He's told everyone else. He just doesn't know you. Maybe he is running a litle bit to fast and getting to far ahead of the DB. I don't know. I know he has watched the replay over and over and over, trying to figure out what he can do to improve. He makes no excuses. Please help him. Private e mail me and I'll give you his cell. The second one, please help him out some more? Are you refering to the other 50 yard pass that he had to wait on because it was short, probably due to getting hung up in the wind and the DB ran over him for pass interference, the yellow flag on the field. Or the third pass that he was triple covered on. Stuff happens Walter. It's been obvious all year that you are not a member of the Ozzy Sheehan fan club. Keep the negative posts coming, but if you are going to bash a player, make sure you know if they screwed up once or twice before you post things.
  9. There is no emotional letdown with these players (or coaches). They don't need to be reminded of what didn't go right during the Ryle game. They understand ifs and buts, and there were a lot of things and plays that could have happened the other night, but didn't. They came up short. These guys are gamers and are pretty tough on themselves about what they coulda, shoulda, woulda done in the game. On the other hand, they talk it over, and they don't place blame on each other. The team has moved on. Will they win state? I don't know, but they have been giving it 110% effort all year. These are 16 and 17 year old young men. They practiced hard yesterday and were out with their friends last night, some enjoying being able to take in other high school football games. They don't get on blog sites at 11 pm on a Friday night and blow smoke at each other about how bad their team is. On the other hand, they do read this stuff. The quote I heard from several of them the other night, was they accept criticism from their coaches, and from parents and friends over wings and cold beverages. They don't know who the nameless people are who post criticisms on this website, but they have a field day and a lot of laughs attempting to associate your name with interesting characteristics and mannerisms. They play Sherlock Holmes and know some of you. They practice daily. Instead of blogging Monday afternoon, stop by and introduce yourselves and tell them face to face that they fumbled the two point conversion that could have tied the game! And while you're at it, ask them if they think they are going to win state. Then tell them how much you know about the other good teams in class 5A. Then ask them what they know about them. Are they the clear favorite to win state? The answer I heard from some them was they will let you know around 7 pm on December 4. Then sometime the following week they are heading to BW3s in Cold Spring. They also mentioned that they will treat anyone that wears a name tag to free wings. Send me a private message. I'll relay the information on to them so they can print them up in advance. Good luck Birds!
  10. Sure I'm disappointed about the loss , but I'm more disappointed in some of the Bluebird faithful posting in the up-date thread. Late in the game , when things were not looking good , SOME SHOWED THEIR TRUE COLORS ! (I'm done !)
  11. Factor in the game, no. Did the players hear it, yes. Least we forget how HHS QB calls their plays.
  12. I'd rather not see posts like this that the HHS players are going to read. HHS posted a loss tonight. It's business back to normal Friday after school. Goal is 20n10!
  13. I just spoke with Fox Sports Ohio's corporate office. According to FSO, Highlands at Ryle will be broadcast in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky market at 7:00 pm tonight (6:30 pm pregame show) and rebroadcast tomorrow at 12:00 pm. The Insight guide is incorrect. Bluejackets hockey will be shown in the Columbus market for Fox Sports Ohio.
  14. Scott had minus 40 yards rushing in the 2nd half. Eleven starters didn't start for Highlands. Go to practices during the weak before you criticize "our" team and see how hard they worked going into this game. If anyone wants to say they were non emotional, maybe the fan support could have been a little bit louder to help them.
  15. Spencer Brown is a great all around player. Awesome athlete and a great guy to have on your team!
  16. That is uncool. Let him enjoy the ride and his day in the sun.
  17. That is somewhere bigtime! They have an entire new coaching staff, that runs a program like Highlands! Adam will be one of the first to make this program go forward. Congratulations to Weinel! That is big time!!!! A lot of cake eater familes are with you!
  18. Right on BGBird! Did anyone see the score of Kentucky vs. #10 South Carolina, this past Saturday? Or the week before, did #7 Auborn really think that they would kick a field goal as time expired to beat Kentucky? Sometimes, the better team just has a rough outting. I think we all would agree that a 7 point win is not pulling away from your opponent. And I believe most of us would agree that having 7 more points than your opponent has constitutes a victory. At the time of HHS score of their 27th point, I believe the HHS QB was 8-8 passing. Was he rushed some during pass plays throughout the game? yes. Was the short passing game there all night for HHS? yes. Did HHS attempt a pass longer than 25 yards? no. Was the deep pass available? Game film says yes, but 8-8 is great! Did Compton make big runs in the first half? yes. Did Sully and Compton play any of the second half? no. Did Gold play much of the second half? no. Was HHS driving on several possessions, only to fumble inside of enemy territory? yes. They won against a team that is always pumped up against them. Every team plays there best against HHS! They won fellow HHS fans. Enjoy Lofland's game winning interception, New's 70 yard interception, Abner's key interception, Compton's 80 yard TD catch, Sheehan's 25 yard TD catch, Towles 12 yard TD run, Streeter and True moving the ball for positive yardage, Gold's 45 yard kickoff return; Abner, Bruns, and Siedl's hard tackles, Weinel's kicking and punting, having Towle's as the QB, Meyer snapping the ball to perfection, the records of the Varsity, JV, and Freshman, etc. The HHS fan bus to 20n10 has a diverse passenger assortment. This site has passengers that are on the bus one week, then off the next; those that stay on and ride no matter how smooth or bumpy; those that nothing would make them enjoy the ride, but thank goodness everybody will be on the bus in some fashion for the ride throughout the play offs. Everybody stay in your seat. Be confident that the HHS players and coaches will keep driving the bus.
  19. Oh really? On the next possession, Gold ran the kick off back to the CovCath 45. Towles then completed a 10 yard pass to Sheehan, followed by a 10 yard run to Streeter, followed by the third and final play of the drive, a 25 yard TD pass from Towles to Sheehan. The play is on wlwt's website and George Vogel comments on how Pat has all of the time in the world to pass the ball.
  20. Why a moral loss for Highlands? I didn't hear of any player being upset at Dixie Chili last night after the victory.
  21. Before everyone starts bashing HHS players for playing their worst game, look at the statistics. On offense they played hard. Towles was 10-13 passing. Great completion percentage for the limited number of passes he threw. Total HHS passing yards 185. First play from scrimmage, an 80 yard screen to Compton a RB. That means HHS had 105 total passing yards the remainder of the game. Towles is one of the best passing QBs in the state, if not the best in the state. His receiving trio is also one of, if not the best in the state. The HHS receivers have some blazing speed. Here's the WR passing stats that I have from memory. Gall 0 catches, 0 yards. Gold 1 catch, 10 yards. Sheehan 2 catches in the first half for 13 yards, a 25 yard TD catch and 3 or 4 passes, each 6-10 yards in the second half. Two of your top three receivers have 1 total catch for the entire game. Your third top receiver is making some catches, then suddenly no more passes. Repeatedly throughout the game, HHS receivers had single coverage, with the safety cheating to one side. I know the HHS QB is talented enough to pass the ball in their vicinity. My stats may be a little off, but my point isn't. Nobody can catch the ball if it isn't thrown to them. This game came down to a Hail Mary falling less than a foot short. It shouldn't have. Take the win and move on. 13 total HHS passes was on the verge of being unlucky. HHS players on both sides of the ball practice hard and play hard. As a HHS fan, be proud of the players that they got the job done. Don't bash your team with comments that this was their worst game.
  22. Would have liked to have seen Towles throw more than 13 times. Amen brother! ]
