  1. At one point in time didn't Grant County (perhaps before it was Grant County High School???) win a national championship? For some reason I thought I saw a banner in the gym. I may be wrong???? Is the Tyler Jones that has applied for the job the same Tyler Jones that played at Grant several years ago?
  2. I like GRC, Mason, Scott, and then after that its a open, but I still like Campbell, Brossart and Montgomery. I like Montgomery with thier youth, they may take some lumps this year, but give next year's Junior class, along with Prewitt and some of thier other young players coming up, another year to develop and mature, they will be in the regional chat in 2012. What does Bracken lose? I know they had some nice younger teams the past two years. Depending on what they return they could be nice. Deming with the King brothers will be good
  3. However, look at it in this perspective. As a young coach, or a coach coming up in the ranks looking for thier first head coaching job, or a coach looking for a new job, this is what I feel Grant County has to offer: 1. Dry Ridge/Grant County is slowly starting to expand and getting bigger, attracting more people/talent. Great place to live, some good fishing!!!!! 2. It is a nice school with good support (apparently). 3. They have a nice youth program established, if they can keep that running and get some good young talent developed and to stay in the system, you may have a few years of good teams. 4. They will always be able compete in the 8th region, may not always be one of the top 5 teams, but will always compete. But if you can get a nice team to come through, work with that youth system and get those kids to stay in Grant County, who knows, you might see that hardwood at Rupp. 5. Location, they can travel to NKY, Central KY, and other areas to play a lot of different teams. I think Grant County does have a lot of upside for a coach to want to be there. I think it is unfair to say that they will never see Rupp, with the Shelby County schools splitting talent may be dispursed, Anderson has not been the same as they have in the past, with high school basketball you never know, a lot of uncertainty. I am looking forward to seeing who they hire.
  4. What about grades as well, heard he may not qualify (NCAA) due to academics?
  5. Wasn't Stansbury at the State Tourny watching Ge'lawn? Has anything come of that?
  6. Well if this kid can pout, not play hard, and play soft and STILL be one of the best players in the region as a Junior what does that say about how good he actually is? Remember, he still has a year to develop.
  7. Even without Zollo, Clark still has the most talent in the region and should still win next year, might just make some of the games a little closer.
  8. Many JV coaches may not get the praise they deserve for the reason that people feel that they are "game coaches". Go behind the scene and you will see who is always in the ear of the head coach throwing out ideas, game plans, preparation drills, practice ideas, etc.
  9. Congratulations to Treg on his choice which I think is a great fit for him. To be honest, I thought he would go bigger. As stated earlier in a post, by making the early decision this will allow Treg to keep his mind free and clear and just focus on basketball, this is however, an unfortunate event for the rest of the 10th region. Treg is a dangerous player with even more upside to his game than he has already shown. As much as I like to dislike Mason County, it is always great to see good things happen to good people.
  10. From what I heard last, Polson was getting interest, if not offered, from Georgetown.
  11. I think with the performance Justice had at the state tournament it should be his, however, I think voting took place before the state tournament took place, therefore I think Sewell might have an edge if voting was prior to state.
  12. This could be another entire thread in itself, but this was the huge arguement earlier in the year about Who Is #1 in the 10th??? Many wanted to say Clark because of thier talent and doubted Mason. Mason has proved themselves to be the best team in the region despite not having nearly the amount of talent Clark has, so until Clark can show they can live up to thier potential, Mason should stay #1. However, I do think Clark SHOULD be there at #1 since they have had the top talent in the region the past several years.
  13. Its a shame that with all the success Coach O'Hearn was able to achieve that he did not win this award. Griesser at Montgomery also did a great job, taking an unranked team that many people overlooked and lead them to the regional tournament.
  14. What are the numbers of 10th Region HofF compared to that of other regions?
  15. In the 40th District alone you have Omar Prewitt (Montgomery), Clark County's starting 5, the frosh from Bourbon, Aaron Jacobs (Paris), and then you have others around the region such as Mason Monroe, Treg Setty, just to name a few.
  16. Well if you want to go by some of the underclassmen that made the Coaches All-Region team, Donnie Cheetum (sp?) should be solid for Lloyd. Really goes under the radar playing at a smaller school.
  17. I have only heard about two candidates thus far, Hundley and Kirk, I am sure there are other names, just not aware of them yet.
  18. I would imagine they will name a person very shortly after spring break. This will give the new coach some time to get acquainted with his players and get them started doing open gyms, lifting, etc, before summer ball begins.
  19. Whose to say that Hundley, the JV coach at Jessamine, or some other JV coach wouldn't do a good job. Some times a school has to take a chance on a JV coach rather than going out and finding a varsity coach from another school. As stated earlier in a previous post, it just depends on the direction in which the school wants their program to go in, that is why the interview process is so important for all parties involved.
  20. [/ I think it is home court advantage:confused:
  21. From my understanding the way they do it is that all coaches nominate players if they want and then a ballot will be sent around to all coaches with those nominated players and the coaches vote. The top 15 vote getters on the All-Region Team. I think there were extra's this year because of some ties in the voting process. I may be wrong though.
  22. Looking in from the outside and simply reading some of the post, there seems to be some issues with support from the administration and from some parents. Now, what coach is going to want to go into that type of atmosphere? I do think Scott is a great program, Trame and Carr have done wonders, I think it would be a shame if Carr left becuase, as stated in a previous post, a few parents complain because thier baby gets called out during games. I would have loved to have played for a guy like Carr, in your face, aggressive, energetic, that is basketball. If you dont like it, go play Church Ball.
  23. I am very interested in seeing some of the names and faces from Newport. With the huge statement win over a very good Holmes team, could make for a fun and interesting run by the wildcats.
  24. Mason did make it, he was accidentally left off!
