setforlife Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Who are some of the best assistant coaches around the state?
clutch0011 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Sean Maddy for Campbell County should be up and coming. Great young coach who is well liked by his players. Knows his basketball.
PAPA PIGSKIN Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Bryan Hyatt, Anderson County High School, he does a tremendous job for Coach Glenn Drury and the Bearcats. He is an assistant that should be able to climb the ranks in KY coaching.
12thRegionFan Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Some of the top assistant coaches in the 12th are: Greg Edwards (Boyle Co.), Daniel Sandlin (East Jessamine), Brad Pertey & Shawn Conley (Lincoln Co.), Jeff Cothron (Pulaski Co.), Andrew Cash (Rockcastle Co.), Kevin Burkett (Somerset), Jake Baker & Kevin Jones (Wayne Co.), Kevin Sisler (West Jessamine)
SportsGuy41017 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Jeff Davis - Simon Kenton, and former coach of the 16U Derek Smith All Stars, and now with the Shining Stars program.
sumoroyal Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Kelly Carwile, Mason County, has been an head coach in the past and does a fine job for Coach O'Hearn and Mason County.

That certainly helps those programs.
Voice of Reason Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Todd Downs - Boone County. JV coach the past three years and I believe he has won the N. Ky. JV tournament every year. Boone County's JV was undefeated this year. Head of the Wolfpack AAU organization (now the Knights) that annually has top teams in the state at multiple age levels.
AndOneDad Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Seth Faulkner at Mason Co. Great young man, works hard and is a terrific role model for the kids.
Big Slick Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Jeff Davis - Simon Kenton, and former coach of the 16U Derek Smith All Stars, and now with the Shining Stars program. :thumb:
gold sunrise Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The best in the state - Roscoe Denney. Ask the people in Morgan Co about him.
AndOneDad Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Allison at GRC, he's been around for ever and nows the game very well.

He has had a ton of talent coming through the pipeline at Boone. I would like to see how he would do with a team with less talent than what he has had in his career at Boone. IMO a great coach is one that can take a team without a lot of talent and get them to a higher level and achieve success.

Agreed-Boone won in basketball and baseball last year at the JV level, but not where it matters most, at varsity. Back to the question of the thread, I believe some great assistant coaches in Northern Kentucky are Meyer at NCC, Tieman at CovCath-he was the previous head coach. Dick Maile, who is at Beechwood now, but has had many stops along his career, and John Wimzie at Holmes.
