two bad teams

The rims at Holmes are ridiculously soft and forgiving. Now, that helps BOTH teams at Holmes. However, I do wonder as well, does this hurt the Dawgs outside shooting outside of their home court? They only lost 1 game I get that, but I often wonder if they will shoot it well at BOKC. We'll see.

Good win for CovCath. I think it might be a stretch to say Frederick "was the difference in the game". Any team getting back a starter, especially a Senior is going to get a boost. Last night Pauly and Schuh were outstanding. Bo had to have close to double digit rebounds in addition to his 22. Tobler was tough vs. Campbell, limiting his touches and forcing off-balance shots. Frederick hit a nice 3-ball from the corner. CC played with all the confidence in the world as they did not hesitate to shoot, kept the foot on gas pedal. If Frederick means that much in the locker room and on the floor I'll give you that, but others had great games. Team effort.

Yes, as I stated Cooper is 3rd or 4th in region IMO so no, obviously NCC nor Holmes would want to face the 3rd ranked team if given the choice (vs. others in region). At this point in the season no one is taking anyone lightly. (at least not after last night) I don't think I am "taking them lightly" but I'll leave it that I just think Cooper is not as close to the top as the other two and is more susceptible to getting beat early in the region based on recent game performances.

Cooper gutted out the "W" which is all that matters so congrats to them and for Conner's effort. I just am not sold on Cooper as a serious Regional contender (to win it) based on recent play. 4-1 with some unimpressive wins by small margins. (Win vs. Boone 51-45, Lose to Newport 48-45, Win over Dixie 51-45, beat Scott 62-48 and beat Conner 72-68 2OT). I see them in 3rd or 4th position yet clearly behind NCC and Holmes. You can argue that's their style of play and I get that, but it seems to leave lesser teams hanging around.

Bueter is the NC's best player and should be in conversation for POY. Just "in the conversation". He does everything out there and aside from game high scoring last night does a ton of other things. Loose balls, blocked shots, and calming the team down. He is difficult to trap as well as he finds his way out of jams. Great High School Player. Should a player be penalized because he HAS talent around him? Last night it was all Beuter until HHS finally had to come out of the zone. Then some others got theirs. On a side note, have to commend HHS crowd for their support. In the midst of a really bad season, they did show up and represent. I thought the crowd would thin out after the girls game. Other than a few grandparents and family, most stayed.

Sorry, didnt catch the whole thread. Why was the Cheerleading coach fired? Sometimes the players (or in this case cheerleaders) want to stand up for their fallen coach, which is natural, but often do not know the whole story. What's the story?

I think it is ok as long as all of our "sources" are treated the same. As long as you start your post with "The word on the street is..." then you are just doing what others have done.

Bullitt East wins the game but I am just not a buyer in BE being #2 in the state. I see some nice work early over Region 11 teams (LexCath, Lafayette, and a split with Madison Central) but the 6th is not a typical 6th Region this year. J-town is down, PRP average, and Fairdale not much. The wins down the stretch are just ok (a win is a win, I realize)) but my point is they are a good team, not #2 ranked (AP poll). I like the 9th regions chances to win this opener. PS--taking the 5th on the wins in Dallas as I am not sure who TBA#1 #2 and #3 are.

Yes, not suggesting both teams won't go "balls out" to win the game at hand. With this region it is no lock they even meet again. Just saying if you have a "special" you would likely save it for when it counts if you do run into them again. Why give them a look now.

NewCath by 8-10. Inside "offensive" size will be the difference. Seen both teams play (NC 5 times and Holmes twice). Both nice teams. NC has enough athletes to slow Holmes down ("slow", not stop Bolden and Co.) but I see NC getting what they want inside and pulling away. The safe call is a close game, but I see NC bigs taking over and winning by 8 to 10. I'll say 62-54 or 62-52. I do agree with earlier poster who said teams may not show all they have (different "D" looks, etc.) due to a bigger potential meeting down the road.

There are 9 kids that are a lock. Could be a few more that I don't know about. I believe the class has 35 boys.

NewCath by 5. Overall length again will be the difference. Boone has 3 nice guards but NC also has a set of guards who can play. Don't see an advantage there. Hightchew may get in trouble but he seems to make up for it with a lay up on the next trip or so. Think Boone will struggle with getting open looks vs. the taller Breds. Will be tighter game than those played today, but NC ultimately goes down state. And wins two down there.....

Many things are being tossed around on this thread and I think it would give someone who wasnt there the wrong impression of the game and the players. Unless I am totally blind (20/20 last time I checked) I saw no "bad blood" between the teams or any players. Hard fought, although at times ugly, basketball. I thought all played hard. I think this was sort of a coming out party for Bray for most people and he absolutely impressed. As I have mentioned earlier, he did no woofing, taunting, or anything after a specatacular dunk (nice job on the photo) and after draining a Huge three. No "3" signs, no looking at the HHS bench, nothing. As for any so called threats or whatever, Towles and Bray shook hands and hugged in the line with no issue. Must not have been anything serious. I probably wouldnt take the word of a 17 year old minutes after a loss. Again, I saw nothing. Now, Bray did take his sweet time every time he was injured. Was he hammered, yes. I mean, my Lord, give him a break. He, nor his team did not commit the intentional foul. Sounds like a few people on the thread a little too close to HHS and can't see the forest from the tree's.

I DON'T think it's worth talking about. He's been gone all year. Move on. Dixie beat all the teams up here without him. They lost, it happens. HC lost a starter as well, was still ranked high, and lost in District. "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" is not worth talking about IMO. (which is why I won't comment further, so you can have the last post...LOL)

Qryche11, you are saying he intentionally tried to harm Towles? huh? Bray was getting hammered all night. Yes, he was grimacing but nothing towards another player. Two very different things.

Bpiccolo.....I'll give you the same? I watched and waited for it but never saw a word? It's my first time seeing the kid so I can't speak to other games. Tonight he was total class. He wasn't happy he got hooked by Towles and was a no call, but that was harmless begging to the refs. To what HHS player was he trash talking to? I was sitting with a former HHS player and neither of us saw anything? Going to have to STRONGLY disagree with you there. Last night Hatton was woofing on every made basket. Saw NONE of that from Bray.

I find it puzzling that Dixie was the consensus #1 all year long (save for HC a week or so) and everything was alright "down south in Dixie" without Pike. They lose to Cooper and now he would have been their savior? Of course he's a spectacular athlete but 80% of the people on this site had Dixie #1 and winning the region WITHOUT Pike. Why bring it up now. He's gone and has been gone the whole year.

NC by 15. I say 57-42. No disrepect to Cooper, but NC pulls away similar to vs. CovCath. Too much size vs. Coopers lone big, and enough guard play and outside shooters to get them to the finals and to state.

Tyler Bray HAS to be considered for best player in region or if not, its close. I was thouroughly impressed by his total game. He hustled more than Rice did vs Boone and has a way better outside shot. Sure Highlands is not as good as Booone Co. as far as competition, but Bray has very little supporting cast. I also thought he carried himself quite well. No trash talking at ALL. As for theatrics, he took some major hits and was hammered on the intentional foul. I had no problem with him taking his time and "walking it off" I have see MUCH MUCH worse. Congrats to Lloyd. Nice to see their crowd show up. as a side note, NC wins the region. More height and length than the others.

Bracken County has hired Kevin Seiple, former Head Coach at Indian Hill H.S. in Cincinnati and assistant at Highlands, Beechwood, and most recently Campbell County. My sources are iron clad. It's a done deal. Nice hire for the Bears. Looks like they are getting serious about their football program.

I am a contrarian by nature so I will admit when I am wrong if it happens. I absolutely love Dixie in this game. Have much respect for LC but they were third choice for many in the 11th before this thing started (Scott Co and Tates Creek) and now they are a juggernaught? Dixie's guard play will whip the LC press. The Bigs run the floor well and can score. Have 4 guys that can score and maybe 5 if #1 ever got a chance. OK subs, but all you want out of #45 is to rebound. LC has been there, but I like Dixie by 6. Dixie 58-52. Side note: I have absolutely no problem with Dixie celebrating as they did. Enjoy it. If LexCath won in a thriller, I doubt they would have been so subdued in the handshake line.

Trinity's schedule is impressive. I commend them on that. They are the best program in the state. The state is so watered down with 6 divisions you have to look elsewhere to find good games. Good Luck Shamrocks.
