It's September 23, 2025 and time for the yearly post in this thread: Time to remember @Birdsfan. Today is the feast day of Padre Pio, which was Dave's avatar. Dave was the kind of guy that you do remember on a regular basis.

Those 4 years of 2003-2006 were amazing.

In the interest of time (and frankly being lazy to learn something new), I installed iOS 18.7 instead. I eventually want to get to iOS 26. Are there any known "big bugs" which would make one wait for a minor upgrade to a iOS 26.1, for instance?

I really like watching Detroit play. They are a fun team. Good to see Derrick Barnes with a solid game.

It's a shame Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Raiders which negates anything I say in the remainder of this post. In my own fantasy universe, I would think Brady would love to come out of retirement to get a chance at one more ring with the Bengals offensive receiving talent. But, then again, I see Brady waking up and slapping cold water on himself when he considers the Bengals offensive line. Once again, don't jump down my throat...it was only a dream.

Joe Burrow is said to have suffered a "turf toe" injury during the Bengals' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. This comes from reports from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rapoport says that Burrow appears likely to need surgery for the injury. If so, Burrow is expected to miss at least 3 months of playing time. This means that Burrow could be out for most, if not all of the team's season.

Browning to Tinsley just like the preseason game against Washington. I hope Burrow forms that sort of connection with Tinsley as well.

Here is the stat summary for the game. QB Brian Ferguson was effective in multiple ways again tonight by rushing 5 times for 76 yards and 1 TD. He also was 5-11 passing for 71 yards and 1 TD. RB Charles Oglesby ran 10 times for 80 yards and a TD. RB Trevin Figgs and backup QB Cahlil Johnson added additional rushing TDs. TE Max Hunt was also in the scoring column having 2 catches for 32 yards and a TD. The Indians defense forced 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions. Dustin Wilson returned one of those fumbles for an 8 yard TD in the second quarter. With the Indians 41 first half points, the running clock was in play. For Holmes, QB Konscious Johnson was 5-13 for 58 yards and 1 INT. The Bulldogs were held to -31 yards rushing. Next Friday night, Covington Holy Cross (4-0) and Holmes (0-4) both have byes.

I think they need to get those wins on the front end since the last three games of the season are on the road against the Brewers and we all know how well the Reds do against them.

The last time these two Covington schools met was 2022 when Holmes defeated Holy Cross 40-27. Holy Cross won only two games that year. Even when one school is up and the other one down, this game has a tendency to be a "throw out the record books" situation.

I was surprised that Iosivas did not get targets. It seemed that the Bengals were forcing it too much to Gesicki (especially when covered by the better of the Browns cornerbacks). I guess it does come down to Burrow getting enough time to go through his progressions. He sure didn't have as much time as Flacco did.

For Holy Cross, QB Brian Ferguson had another big game statistically tonight by rushing 10 times for 76 yards and 1 TD. He also was 7-18 for 157 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT. RB Charles Oglesby ran 8 times for 41 yards and a TD. The Thornberry WR cousins were active again - Braylon had 3 catches for 77 yards and 2 TDs and Xavier had 1 catch for 39 yards and a TD. TE Max Hunt was also in the scoring column having 3 catches for 41 yards and a TD. For Clermont Northeastern, QB Brady Schmidt was 10-25 for 190 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. WR Bacon Geer had 4 receptions for 134 yards and a TD. The Rockets opened the scoring with a 54 yard pass from Schmidt to Geer and they completed the two point conversion.
