Somerset lost because Newcath did not punt ONCE the entire night. Story of the game, aside from 3 Newcath TO's, Newcath controlled the game.

Not a lot of teams look very good against Beechwood... Say what you will, but even if you consider these games "cake walks" but it has NCC on a roll, and the same people like you questioned it in 2010, but look what happened, that NCC team rolled everyone in their path. Come to play Friday and we'll see who wins state.

Nkysports.com lists the final as 57-50. That was a phenomenal game though! Dixie really wanted it, but so did HC. Crazy game, and congratulations to Henry Clay.

Henry Clay scored on a reverse trick play pass, had a WR wide open down the sideline, currently 55-50. I think HC is going for a 2 pt conversion.

Or the fact that NewCath just pounded a very good Beechwood team and is hot as of late, and Somerset and Danville haven't been performing as well lately, as far as OC goes, I think they lost a lot of respect from people in the state title game against NCC where everyone was so pumped about this amazing, high scoring team, and NCC shut them out, and by the way, this OC team's record and schedule is VERY similar to the last runner-up OC team. But call it what you will.

That's completely invalid to say.... The reason Danville has 10 and Boyle has 7 is obviously Boyle is in a higher class. Enrollment makes 100% the difference, as if Danville was in 4A/5A let's see how many titles they'd still have. Let's be honest, talent goes to schools with a tradition of being good, and schools that are state title winners year in and year out are going to get those kids. It's like college football, if a kid is offered by Alabama, and offered by Kent. St. where do you think the kid is going to go? Don't answer that please. The fact of the matter is, all the kid has to do is move to where the school is in the district and they enroll, and be apart of the success. If that's not evident with all these great athletes, I don't know what is. Even Mike Mitchell's attempt to go to HHS. There's nothing wrong with it unless you're the school in the district in which the kid moved from, but they're just putting themselves in the best situation. But to say enrollment is overrated or has no say is just pure ignorance, because Tradition brings talent, talent brings enrollment, and enrollment brings $ which means upgraded facilities, and much more.

I don't get what it is with this game, the loser is always so pumped/prepared for the playoffs, it's ridiculous, and the winner usually doesn't do much in the playoffs. This is as close of a matchup as it has been in the past decade, and I'm going to take NCC in a very close one. This game usually comes down to the wire, and the team that performs in the clutch will win this game. The fact this year's seniors still remember Vocke's controversial TD at Newport, and then last year, with Hightchew getting hurt in the game, has left a hunger in them to beat BW, I will tell you. And as well, if you are not familiar with this rivalry, head out and see this game, the two teams always play hard and full of emotion.

Because Lloyd is such a bad team, jeez. You're 100% right. All they've did is go 6-2 so far and beat a HC team who was the defending 2A champions, and pre-season #1 if I'm correct (not saying that it was a fair ranking, just saying), and then NCC named the score against Lloyd, but you know, who's keeping track. Newcath's tough schedule will make them more than ready for the playoffs. That, you can bank on.

As I said about Dixie.... They're just as good as anyone in NKY 6A. And cellking, when they prove that they can 2005+ on is when I will. The state title has remained in NKY the past 2 years for 2A. Wouldn't be shocked if it's 3.

And dixie's 1 win being against Conner? Who happens to be one hell of a team. A lot of teams would be 1-6 or worse while playing Conner, NCC, Beechwood, Boone, Boyle, Cov Cath, and Campbell County. I don't think any of the teams below them have played quite the schedule NCC has as well. And with you saying one of their best wins being over Lloyd? Who they beat by 41? Just saying, Holmes is good, Simon Kenton is good, and Campbell County is pretty good. Go to an NCC game in the next few weeks, and you'll see why NCC's getting love right now.

What's sad is you probably are right, 1A pretty much has lost any other team that would have been in the top 3/5 of that group too, NCC, Danville, Lexington Christian, Pretty much seals the fate of the 1A state title being in Beechwood, Mayfield, or Hazard's hands for the next, I don't know, you tell me how long.

If you have such a great memory of that year Qryche, you'd also remember NCC was state champs, beating Mayfield 42-7, and Beechwood was sitting at home after losing to Lexington Christian 43-20.

Lloyd beat Holy Cross by 1, the same Holy Cross team that got hammered by Beechwood, who it seems is listed #8 in the majority of these top 10's. I'll give Lloyd due respect if they defeat NCC, until that day, not yet.

Really, really ugly game. A lot of penalties, don't think SK is as good as people praise at all. I think NCC needs to learns how to count though.

No offense, but he's the exact same coach from five long years ago. You know the only difference? He's getting a real chance at Dixie without pressure from everyone around the program, like at CovCath, or the fact at CovCath he was there for what 2 years? Which just happened to be the year before Bir rose up to be a star in his junior year? CovCath's loss, they lost a great coach due to impatience for a lack of talent on a team those few years ago.

VOR, you forget how close that game was at halftime. The score is very deceiving, Beechwood poured it on and then some in the 2nd half, If I'm correct it was 16-14 BW at half last game, and this is a completely different HC team, that actually plays a full game now. If they held BW to 16 points in the 1st half while playing decent-mediocre, I think they would definitely have a chance. But as you said, let's not thread jack with this argument, and hopefully HC brings home a state title to NKY. I'll be rooting for them.
