Bellevue had a 6-1 lead going into the 4th when it all fell apart. I counted 3 errors on Bellevue that prolonged the inning but to give credit to the Tigers, a blown call by the field umpire on a pick off at 1st base that looked from where we were standing that the Ludlow kid was out by 2-3 feet, Ludlow then hits a 2 run HR. Pitcher from Bellevue was throwing good and settled down to get the next 2 hitters out before an error, a couple of hits or walks and then a big error in center field that cleared the bases. Interesting call in the 5th or 6th inning when Bellevue had a runner on 1st & 3rd and fly ball was hit to left, kid tags from 3rd and scores easily no throw from outfield, coach from Ludlow is standing "in the field of play" half way to the plate on the 1st base line, when all of sudden the umpire calls the kid that tagged up on 3rd "out"...I don't know what transpired there but it seemed that was the end for Bellevue, we all thought it was a clear sac fly. A good game to be at tonight.

Bellevue actually out hit the Colonels, but in deed stranded 10-11 runners. Just couldn't get that hit to make it a game. They also committed 4 errors that led to most of Dixie's runs.

Is there a kid named Josh Raleigh that plays for the Colonels?

Ian Plank, a good lefty to compliment Klaas, if he is healthy this year. I think Klaas had back issues at the end of the season.

IMO, not sure about Jones's arm (troubles) in the past 2 years at Dayton, can he still pitch? I think he was moved to the outfield and out of the pitcher's role because of arm problems. I don't think he played summer baseball this year either. Bellevue on the other hand will have a couple of real young starter's playing on the HS this year, due to no one in the Frosh, Soph & Junior class (when looking at the roster from last year). Starting pitching will have to be strong this year for Bellevue, there will be no one in relief if the starters are in trouble.

Unfortunately, walks, errors and a tight strike zone (went both ways) doomed the Tigers early. NCC wins 11-6, Jimmy Scott starts for Bellevue, Mike Young came in for an inning and Tony Mayes completely shut down NCC for the last 4 innings (no runs, hits or base runners) giving Bellevue a chance to catch up. Hunter Jones goes deep (3 run homer) off of Connor in the 5th or 6th inning. Great Season for the Tigers!

With a lot of great match ups in the first round of the tournament, I am curious about the Bellevue-NewCath game. Bellevue looks as they are playing really good baseball right now, NewCath has been consistant throughout the season, when was the last time that Bellevue has beaten NewCath in baseball, regular season or districts?

I think the coach is affected by having to sit out a game as well. I may be wrong but I believe that is what the rule is this year.
