Beechwood/Newport Catholic Predictions (4/16 9th Region All A Championship)

Featured Replies

It is a showdown between the past decade's two most successful "A" level teams in the 9th region. Beechwood is pitching their #1 starter Josh Bertke and NCC is countering with Brian Doyle.

Are neither Cain or Meyer available for NCC?

Are neither Cain or Meyer available for NCC?

Cain is out for sure as he pitched a complete game yesterday. If I remember correctly, Meyer is also out because he pitched (complete game also?) on Tuesday. That is where the draw helped Beechwood even though they also had to play 3 games the past 3 days like NCC. The difference is Beechwood's toughest opponent was Lloyd in their opener on Monday. So they pitched Bertke in that game and went with the other pitchers the next two days. That set Bertke up for tomorrow's game. NCC had to play St. Henry and Holy Cross the past two days so they had to put their best out there. I believe Beechwood was also able to limit innings by their #2 pitcher, Colin Johnson, so he should be available on Friday also.

Tough break for NCC. It would have been interesting to have their ace match up against Beechwood's #1. I'm sure this will be a great game nonetheless. I'll still go with my original prediction for NCC to win it all.

Ncc wins by atleast 3 runs or more.

Ncc wins by atleast 3 runs or more.

I assume you are counting on a shutout of Beechwood then because I don't see NCC getting more than 3 runs off Bertke. NCC has not exactly been an offensive force thus far this year.

"Ncc wins by atleast 3 runs or more."

Don't see that happening, Beechwood is really starting to play good.

This young Beechwood team has gotten better since the beginning of the year. Thier pitching along with hitting have both improved and their defense is always good.

I'll say the final will be 6-4 NCC.

Lloyd scored 4 against Bertke on Monday, so I think NCC can get at least that many.

*Their

If the weathermen are correct this game on Friday will be a rain-out and if so, Myers pitches on Saturday, NCC wins going away!

Where is the game going to be played???

NCC

All Beechwood in a close game, 6-4

Who are the players to watch for both teams?
