  1. 90% of showcases are strictly moneymakers... Most important aspect of getting recognized is when the player proactively reaches out to coaches through phone calls, emails, etc. Show personal interest in the school and let the coaches know your personality. When you build the foundation with personality, effort, and interest, the skills piece will be recognized either in workouts, games, etc.... not necessarily showcases. If you are interested in a school: Determine academics of school Determine safety of school Determine how much winning means to you Determine how much playing right away means to you Find the fit for you, not necessarily based only on "the coaches" fit. Showcases ARE NOT the way to "get your foot in the door" somewhere..... Few are more than a waste of money.
  2. haha, Bluebirdman: You are always such a "ray of sunshine". I know you want to say that the "glass is half full". Come on, give it a try. It can be such an uplifting thing... Come on "t-h-e g-l-a-s-s i-s h-a-l-f f-u-l-l" I think your facts are off a little bit, again. 5 days from Conner game to district game (not 4). Actually 4.93 days, but I'll round up. hahaha I think he ended up throwing about 90 pitches.
  3. Fogal was their DH. It was senior day or he may not have played. He was running about half speed. He was 1/3. G-6, 1b-RF, F-8. Tough one for the Juggs to lose. Brown was pretty dominant and the defense was actually more solid than Conner until the last play... They've really taken major strides in improvement this year. Began the year with 5 starters that were either playing their first varsity game or had less than 10 appearances. A few guys have really stepped up to lead and the new starters have adjusted pretty well.
  4. Senior Day in Hebron for 7 quality players. Well played game, tight throughout. Smiley started for Conner. Don't have all the details, but 5IP, 1R, 0ER, 8K. Hermann threw the final 2 innings to get the W. Brown started for Lloyd. Went the distance. 6.2 2R, 0 or 1 ER, 10K I think there might have been 5-6 hits total, combining both teams. All singles. Fun game to watch and tough way to lose it for the Juggs. Today's another day and another game, so stay positive and get after another W. Go JUGGS!
  5. Numbers don't lie, but your facts aren't always so accurate... haha I would think that both might get the opportunity to pitch in this one. Possibly Molitor and Brown in a combo with softer and harder throwing to keep St Henry off balance?? St Henry might throw Rose or LaCorte and then go to Kuebbing so he doesn't have to go the whole game. Any of these pitchers have shown that they can compete, so it will be interesting to see how things play out. Lloyd did beat St Henry earlier in the year (seed game) and Brown pitched that game (Molitor caught). As for "teeing off" on Brown, maybe St Henry did, but the "numbers that don't lie" don't show that. 2-1 loss for Lloyd vs St Henry in districts in 2011, 5-4 loss for Lloyd vs St Henry in the epic 11 inning district tournament game is 2012 (2-1 Lloyd, when Brown left in the 7th). Agreed that pitching is the name of the game, but the Juggs need to score a few runs in a district game. 2010- 1 run vs Dixie in 4-1 loss 2011 - 1 run vs St Henry is 2-1 loss 2012 - 2 runs (through 7) vs St Henry in 5-4 loss in 11 innings Lloyd's hitting and run production seems to be up this year, so hopefully that will carry over into the district tournament. Should be a good game.
  6. I don't think Lloyd or St Henry allowed a run in their seed games against Villa or Ludlow, so it would come down to the 6-9-9. Dixie gets the 1 Lloyd gets the 2 if they go head-to-head vs St Henry St Henry might get the 3 Villa gets the 4 Ludlow gets the 5 Or, it might be a coin flip for the 2/3 spot(s).... idk
  7. Kudos to Garrett Combs. Nice effort! Located the baseball well. Mixed in the curve and the change up. He bent, but didn't break in a few innings. Dixie had a couple of base running mistakes, but I wouldn't call it "horrible". Runner picked off 1st base and a man on 2nd doubled off on a popped up bunt. Not great, but horrible might be a little strong. How does Lloyd leave 15 guys on base when they don't hit the ball at all??? That's tough to do when the other pitcher only walks 2-3 guys Lloyd did leave a lot of guys on base (9), but Combs worked out of those situations. Lloyd had 7-8 hits and 2-3 walks. Just didn't get them in needed situations. Brown didn't have his best. He hit 4 batters. To Dixie's credit, they stand their ground and don't back away from the inside pitch. If it hits them, they take their base and use it as a weapon. 2 walks were with a base open. Brown also worked out of some jams. 3ER in 2nd inning and 2UER in the 4th.
  8. Addison called Coach Hetzer (TMC) and Coach Moore (LMHS) late yesterday evening to share his college decision and then he "tweeted": Addison Brown ‏@AddisonBrown632 I have decided to attend Thomas More to get my college degree and continue my baseball career. Congratulations, Addison!!
  9. Two pretty evenly matched teams. St Henry takes the "All A" game and Lloyd takes the district seed game. Lloyd up 6-1 in the 6th inning and they hang on for the victory.
  10. The majority of the players for St Henry have a lot of respect for Coach Mullins and didn't want him to leave. There may be some players who didn't like the fact that he doesn't sugar-coat things and he tells it like it is. From my experience, Coach Peddicord won't be a lot different in that respect. He will be fair, command respect, and teach the game without the sugar-coating that a lot of players/parents are now used to.
  11. Lloyd goes for two with 30 seconds to play and wins it with a pass from Smith to Riddle
  12. You called the Scott hitters, "Average, at best" so its kind of hard to see that as a neutral or positive comment I didn't give an opinion, I just gave a basic stat. The threads you are commenting in are about top pitchers, top hitters, top teams, etc. Why not just talk about the thread topic instead of giving your negative opinion on other peoples positive comments.
  13. 4-1 spring record and 7-1 summer record. I guess you must be his bad luck charm if you've seen him "a couple" of times. So far... you're down on Mullins, Lloyd coaches, Brown, Scott hitters and I'm sure the list will go on. All opinions are welcome on BGP, some more legit than others. I probably spent more time responding to the comment(s) than necessary. Enough said....
  14. 17-18u At The Yard Roosters Baseball Team will be holding a tryout on Saturday, August 11 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Boone County High School for their 2013 summer team. All interested players are welcome to attend. ATY Roosters is highly competitive travel baseball team with home games played at Thomas More College. They compete in nationally scouted tournaments throughout the summer. Home for additional information about the team.
  15. Glad Doug is going to be ok. Not only did they have to play in the 100 degree temperatures, but they had to play a double header. Heat index was well over 100 in both games. Coach rotated players as best he could, but 5+ hours on the baseball field drained all of them. Today, Doug's team plays at UC on the turf at 1:30pm. I expect the temperature will be around 100 degrees. The heat index on the turf will be somewhere around 110-115. Fluids, fluids, fluids because they will play unless you can find some bass drums to play a thunder roll outside the stadium.
  16. HOT! HOT! HOT! It was a boiler with an 11:00am start time. Colonels jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an unearned run in the top of the first. ATY Roosters answered with 3 in the bottom of the inning and then opened it up in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th to an 8-1 lead. Roosters threw 4 lefties for an inning or two each. Starters were Tyler Mason (ATY) and AJ Collins (KY Colonels)
  17. Roosters over the RiverBats tonight 11-1 in six innings at Thomas More College. Pitching and defense continue to lead the team. 9 hits, some walks, and some errors led to the 11 runs.
  18. Nice effort against upper tier competition. They had good pitching and good defense throughout the tournament. The sticks woke up in the last game for a 10-0 victory. I think that moves them to 19-6 on the year. Traveling to the Black Swamp tournament this coming weekend for more exposure and top level competition.
  19. Nice performances by the NKY junior and senior all stars last night. The West team won both games in close fashion. Did I read in a different thread that the East squad had been on a streak the last few years? Hope I don't leave anyone out.... West Consisted of: Boone, Conner, Ryle, Cooper, Villa, Ludlow, Lloyd, St Henry, Dixie, Sk, Scott East Consisted of: Beechwood, Holy Cross, New Cath, Cov Cath, Brossart, Campbell, Dayton, Bellevue, Holmes, Highlands, Newport
  20. What is Lloyd's schedule for this year?
  21. Anybody know any of the players and/or what schools are on what teams for the baseball all-star games scheduled for June 11?
  22. Tacky...... Don't know your intent behind taking a stab at NeverWrong, but the game between St Henry and Lloyd was something that neither team should be degraded in. Yes, Lloyd "went home", but it really was probably one of the best district or regional games that you will see. On that night, it was two very evenly matched teams. Excellent pitching, very few errors, clutch hits, small ball execution, 11 innings of ups and downs.... I guess "you did call it after all" but I don't see the need to "crow about it" like it was in the bag for either team.
  23. Tight game throughout. Schwarte and Brown locked up in a pitchers duel for 7 innings. St Henry got 1 in the first and 1 in the seventh. Lloyd scored 2 in the 5th Both pitchers may have ended up with double digit K's. Schwarte is crafty with offspeed and location Brown used power and a tight curve ball. Fun game to watch and it's a shame that either team had to lose.
  24. 34th District Seed Game Addison Brown 5IP 1H 9K 0R Stevens 4-4 York 2-4 Brown 2-2 34th District tournament is now set #1) Play-in Game: Villa vs Ludlow #2) St Henry vs Lloyd #3) Winner #1 vs Dixie Championship: winner #2 vs winner #3
