The kid from Dixie pitched a good game.I was expecting a much better game.Dixies baserunning was horible!!!Lloyd left 15 men on base and did not hit the ball at all.Brown struggled with command hitting 5 batters and walking 3 and Dixe hit the ball very hard.This game was frankly a disappointment to watch.Big kuddos to coach on his 600th win!!!!!

Sounds out of character for Brown. He must have been off due to his commitment to Thomas More!!! Leaving a "SMALL VILLAGE" on the pads don't help either.

Kudos to Garrett Combs. Nice effort! Located the baseball well. Mixed in the curve and the change up. He bent, but didn't break in a few innings. Dixie had a couple of base running mistakes, but I wouldn't call it "horrible". Runner picked off 1st base and a man on 2nd doubled off on a popped up bunt. Not great, but horrible might be a little strong.

 

How does Lloyd leave 15 guys on base when they don't hit the ball at all??? That's tough to do when the other pitcher only walks 2-3 guys

Lloyd did leave a lot of guys on base (9), but Combs worked out of those situations.

Lloyd had 7-8 hits and 2-3 walks. Just didn't get them in needed situations.

 

Brown didn't have his best. He hit 4 batters. To Dixie's credit, they stand their ground and don't back away from the inside pitch. If it hits them, they take their base and use it as a weapon. 2 walks were with a base open. Brown also worked out of some jams. 3ER in 2nd inning and 2UER in the 4th.

For having a sub par outing, it should have been good enough for Lloyd to still take this game. I didn't hear any mention of the Stevens kid, so wondered who actually hit? Sounds like a couple hits in the right times, you would be looking at a different outcome possibly.

Score should have been lot worse than it was.Dixie ran themselves out of at least 4 more runs with really poor baserunning.Stevens had a really bad game I think 0-3 and I know he left a ton of runners in scoring positon.I think Brown had 2 hits including a shot that I thought was going out and I think a few in the bottom of the order had a couple hits.Brown didnt have his usual good stuff definatlly not good enough to win but Lloyd played a bad game including a sac bunt that ended up scoreing 2 runs and a flyball that should have been caught that ended up being a double.

That coupled with the baserunning miscues, it's easy to see where things could have gotten real ugly for Lloyd on the flip side. I would say the final score was pretty indicative of how the game played out.

 

Brown was definitly not at his best yesterday but is a darn good pitcher and an even better kid! As for Stevens, he like Brown was a teammate of Combs for three years during the summer. So he was facing a pitcher who knew him pretty well and was definitly focused with him at the dish!

I have to say I did not know the young man that pitched for Dixie yesterday but I was impressed with what he did.He does not have overpowering stuff but located the ball well and made a big pitch when needed.He made the Stevens kid look bad on 2 strikeouts that he painted the corner with bases loaded. Good jod.
