  1. 242 I will disagree. I have heard directly from players and parents that they were unhappy (moreso with one of the assistant coaches) but also Coach Kues. Many of the same issues that the well respected AD at Brossart had to deal with were surfacing at Silver Grove.
  2. One of the major issues in Bracken is they do not have people with strong football backgrounds since you tend to have the same families living in the county and not moving much..........Very different than Northern Ky. even though it is close to Northern Ky. Local coaches are near impossible to come by...........Now a comment was made that they are tired of the outsiders coming in........but they also tend to treat the outsiders like that......that they are outsiders. This includes the administration........
  3. I have always been of the opinion that you start your ace and get them out as quick as possible. Amd if you cannot get them out well......good thing you started your ace.
  4. No chance of getting into the NKAC conference. Must be voted in for all sports.
  5. The only sport I would speak to is football. I know for a fact that higher administrators wanted to kill the football program about 5 - 7 years ago.. Lack of support can be the highering of coaches (local people who are your buddies), the running off of coaches, the allowing board members children to play even when they do not show up for practice instead of supporting the coaches decisions, etc.
  6. Wow :puke: If you had any idea what you were talking about somebody might take these comments seriously. First Howard Hall had a vision and built facilities before the first game was even played. Joe Felice from Mason County was the first coach and they started in the middle school. They played three years before playing a varsity game. How else would you have them do it? In fact they won 3 games the first season. The next two superintendents made sure the program was funded completely to get it off the ground. They petitioned to get into NKYFL so as to start a feeder program but that was voted down by the NKYFL board. Since they let go the coaching staff that was coaching the first few seasons....things have completely fallen apart. However.......they started out much better than the Brossart program has! The administration in the past seven years has not supported football in this county and things will not improve until they do.
  7. On a serious note...........Huge win for the Bluebirds as they are playing much better baseball right now. Hopefully with the right draw they can pick up a win or two in the regional and then who knows????????
  8. :DCalling me out? Some of us do have to work
  9. Good point about some of the catholic school kids.....which makes my point even more important that the head coach be involved in getting this program off on the right foot. As far as parents I have heard 2 names associated (no proof just hearsay) with this position and both are parents. This is treading on thin ice in my opinion when starting a new program. Now of the two names I heard one is an excellent coach the other would be just protecting his kids playing time. As a parent of a child heading into this program if they have it I would be hoping this would not be the case.
  10. And one thing that this thread just reeks of including some Willie supporters is the lack of involving younger players in the program and the head coach building the program from the middle school up. Speaking of which what is the status on the 6th grade program. If Highlands does this I hope they are smart enough not to hire a parent but rather get someone who can bring all three grade schools' players together and be impartial. If they start this and it goes bad...........they will never have it again.
  11. I cannot get into whether they should or should not have won the region.......Obviously this is a change in coaching philosophies with Mike Flynn coming in vs a Wille Schlarman style. Will it be more appealing to play? On paper you would think that Coach Flynn could get more players out to play based on what is perceived as a more "fun" style of play (or be more encouraging towards kids playing unlike the issues with this year's seniors). Both have had success at their style and you cannot judge success on whether you win a 9th region title or not. If the coach is maximizing the talent he has and runs a system that best fits his players then you have success. While I hate the style Coach Schlarman uses he did have success some years and a few they under achieved (opinion not fact). Basing this and asking the question about 9th region titles is off base.
  12. Is Newport having their bowl game this year?
  13. One thing is for sure. They will work very hard.
  14. Dude....how is the QB situation going to pan out? Any thoughts?
  15. You know they will be disciplined and be able to run the ball (buckler). Who is the QB? and can the QB actually throw this year will determine how far they can go. This unfortunately has been the question for several years.
  16. :sssh:Weight lifting class? I thought those went out when high academics came in...............
  17. In all serious what has kept them from breaking through the past several years is no passing game.
  18. We need an ump to answer this but I believe the umpire has some discretion as to something being done by an opponent to cause the balk............I for one have never understood an ump not granting time to a batter if the pitcher is still in his set position. This seems to cause more problems and confusion by not granting the time than it does by not allowing it. Was not there so not sure of this specific scenario.
  19. Newport seems to be the one team that year after year finds ways to pull upsets after "not so good" regular seasons. Although NCC is a heavy favorite Newport winning would be another one in a long line of post season victories when they should not win for the Wildcats.
  20. However....since the administration (not the coaches) decides the vote it usually runs that way.....but it does not have to.
  21. Mexitucky that is not the KHSAA rule. Each time at each district draw that sport votes to seed or not seed. I will try to find it in the KHSAA by laws.
  22. I like Coach Menefee but I am not sure where his patented tough D comes from. He has to coach a team first! And regardless he has his work cut out for him! As usual it will be NCC and then the others.......with the others being led by St. Henry, Newport......Dayton (except for the bad draw)
  23. BornBCHS that is not true. Joe Felice was the first coach and he was from Mason Co. And if you re read my post I said local administrators ruining the program NOT local football coaches. You cannot keep coaches and people from out side the county when you treat them the way they are treated.
  24. :cool:The key to your second statement is that some talent is involved. Not just if you want to play some place you can........
  25. Yeah I got to agree with Bulldog77. Now I am not a Bellevue apologist and I am a neutral fan in this game.........but I read an awful lot about Hunter Jones and sometimes (it seems) that we as posters try to take away from what he does and quite frankly he is the real deal. Jeremy Connor is a great pitcher. Great job by Hunter to hit one out.
