The start time has been moved to 4 due to NCC graduation. Does anybody give Newport a chance?

 

I would say NCC is the favorite going into the contest. But..it's baseball and anything can happen! I don't think Newport will just lay down for them.. The key for Newport to stay in this game is to avoid errors early in the game and not let 1 or two hits drive in runs. NCC will hit the ball! I pick NCC but dont think for a minute that Newport couldn't pull off the win.

I know Shawn Klass from Newport is something like 5-1 and is hitting in the high .400's. He can change a game. Anyone know if he's pitching?

As said, NCC is the big favorite in this one, but Newport is a solid team. Is Klass is on the mound, which I assume he will be, then Newport could absolutely surprise the region and win this one. Remember, they did it a couple years ago by winning the District when they "didn't have a chance".

I heard he will not play because of injury.His brother Pat will pitch. That is bad luck for Newport.

If this is true that Shawn is not on the mound, it is a tough blow for Newport, but Pat is a good pitcher as well.

Newport seems to be the one team that year after year finds ways to pull upsets after "not so good" regular seasons. Although NCC is a heavy favorite Newport winning would be another one in a long line of post season victories when they should not win for the Wildcats.

What kind of injury happened to Shawn Klass? Also, am I right in thinking Shawn is a sophomore and Pat is a senior?
