  1. Any word about the Holy Cross and Brossart game at Holy Cross? On or off?
  2. Beechwood 70 Villa 50 Never really close, Tigers too much for Villa.
  3. No way these two teams played any defense! 100 and 92 points in a High School game with 8 min quarters! Sorry I wasn't at this game but I find it hard to believe much defense was even attempted.
  4. :thumb: I agree, Beechwood's roster is too deep in talent for Villa. I like the question," can the Tigers stop Bryan and Schue?" It makes me ask the bigger question, can Villa stop Pohlgeers and Fangman?

  6. NKY.COM writes: Beechwood 83, Cumberland County 74: Junior guard Tyler Fangman led all scorers with 30 points, including four 3-pointers, and was 10-for-10 from the foul line in the fifth-place game at Lloyd. Teammate John Pohlgeers added 22 points. Congratulations to BEECHWOOD finishing 5th in the Lloyd Holiday Tournament!
  7. Beechwood seems to be a very young team losing 4 starters from last year. Polhgeers the only returning starter. Beechies are still learning and improving each week. I think Coach Shumate will have them ready for another good run this year. If starting point guard freshman Max Nussbam continues to improve. Each game Max sees the floor better, getting the ball to open team mates.
  8. Sounds like this was a wild one. Big games out of Beechwood senior guard John Pohlgeers 22 points (All Tournament) and junior guard Tyler Fangman 30 points.
  9. Beechwood finishes strong after loosing to CCHS in 1st round. Beechwood goes 3-1 in the Lloyd Tourney! Anyone know the finial here?
  10. Beechwood beat Lewis this afternoon 70 something to 40. Any other updates?
  11. 5'10 Hall v 5'10 Trammel 6'0 Fangman v 5'10 Raleigh 6'1 Daniels v 6'3 Stansberry 6'3 Pohlgeers v 6'3 Smith 6'4 Cruse v 6'5 Pike Where did you get this information??? Just curious I know size on here that is off atleast 2 inches!!!:idunno:
  12. Unless your a lizard, keeping one eye on the ball is really hard!
  13. :walk: I believe at the Freshman and JV level at small schools especially, there are tons of violations and fouls. Fans want to blame the refs for poor skills, play and/or fundmentals. On top of poor play and fundmentals the coaches decide to press most of the game, adding to the violations and fouls. If the refs let "ticky tack" fouls go uncalled and violations weren't "too bad" go uncalled, where do you draw the line? A refs job is to enforce the rules and don't give team A and advantage over team B by being constant. If a ref is deciding what degree a foul is, or how bad is a violation then he is more a factor in the game than the players. The game is meant to be decided by the players not the refs. I do not believe you should ever call out any refs by name. Especially on a negative note. Its a thankless job!
  14. Hold on there Devil! I was at this game and in no way was Bellevue going to win this one. Bellevue returns one starter and Dayton returns all five. Bellevue gave Dayton trouble with their zone the first half. If Bellevue sticks with the zone all game this is a much closer game. NO WAY Dayton puts up 100 on Bellevue. Especially once Bellevue conceeded the game and pulled starters and Dayton did not follow suit. I agree Dayton was and is the better team but not 42 points better. I am sure Bellevue wont make the same mistake twice.
  15. Beechwood started slow but heated up. Second half Heritage was on fire hit everything they shot. I would like to see the assist, rebounds, and steals mentioned instead of just points. In my opinion the players are the ones that pass to open players. Its not always the player that gets the easy lay-up making the play. How about the players that set them up and made the great pass.
  16. :ylsuper:I agree totally. Johnny Pohlgeers I believe had 13 points and did do a great job on Ricardo Johnson. Pohlgreers made a jaw dropping move on JJ and finished strong on one play. I was impressed with the defense from Beechwood freshman Max Nuesbaum. He is a very tough young man. Not sure on the spelling of his last name Fangman did a super job keeping Avery scoreless. Avery scored his only 2 points on a screen/switch Fangman moved to guard JJ. Avery also did a super job holding Fangman to only 6 points. Great game turned in by Beechwood. Holmes just another win for a great team.
  17. As it worked out Jack Stewart did not join the Firebirds on that weekend.
