Sounds like this was a wild one. Big games out of Beechwood senior guard John Pohlgeers 22 points (All Tournament) and junior guard Tyler Fangman 30 points.

This was a back and forth game the whole time. Both teams just kept swinging. Fangman iced the game in the end going 10 for 10 at the free throw line. Pohlgeers and Fangman led the scoring attack while Nick Hall led the team with a solid defensive effort in the second half. Nice win for the Beechies. After a tough loss in the first round to Campbell Co. they rebound to go 3-1 for the tournament.

Beechwood seems to be a very young team losing 4 starters from last year. Polhgeers the only returning starter. Beechies are still learning and improving each week. I think Coach Shumate will have them ready for another good run this year. If starting point guard freshman Max Nussbam continues to improve. Each game Max sees the floor better, getting the ball to open team mates.

Thing I like about the young point guard is how aggressive he plays on the defensive end. He will be a force in a few years. The Tigers need to get one of their senior leaders back. Kyle Daniels is dealing with an ankle injury and Shumate is missing his inside scoring and rebounding.
