Brady Jolly averaged 20 ppg for the Camels in the tournament. Camels go 3-1 with the loss to Newport in the 2nd round.

Camels played very well this week beating Beechwood by 23, Villa Madonna by 25 and Holy Cross by 16. Newport just had too much athleticism for the Camels.

 

They are getting better each and every game.

 

It looked like NKU Coach Bezold was taking a look at Jolly at the Holy Cross game. He would be a good fit for the Norse.

The Camels are starting to get some good minutes from several players. The younger players are really coming around. The team seems to give 100% effort 32 minutes a game. Hopefully by tournament time we will be able to compete with the stronger teams.

One thing I noticed about Campbell while watching them play in the Lloyd tournament was how aggressive they were defensively. They really extend their defense out and put a lot of pressure on the opposition. Good defense can help, they seemed to get a little more balanced scoring. I did not see them play prior to this tournament but I understand that Jolly did most of their scoring. Jolly continued to thrive but they were getting some points from other kids.

Campbell Co looked horrible offensively when I saw them. Outside of Jolly, nobody else can consistantly score.

 

As far as this game goes, HC sat in a zone and Campbell lit them up.

Winning cures everything! Like I said I did not see them play prior to this tournament but I was impressed with their defense, they are really physical and got a lot of teams frustrated and out of their game.

Props to Jake Burger from HC who it looks like led the Indians in scoring in each of their games. The kid is only a sophomore and can shoot the lights out from what I hear.

My amusement stems from A FEW of the Camel faithful who constantly berate Coach Code & staff because they've tried to bring discipline and defense to the Camel program (which had been sorely lacking), and that was quite successful at their previous stop. Comments about how they'd rather see their team lose in a high scoring game, or "watch paint dry" than to watch that style of hoops are all over this board when they lose. However, when that "horrible" style wins some games; they crow about "the fine physical defense", etc. Not calling anyone out, but I do find it amusing how fickle and shortsighted some can be on here!! :confused:

I have commented about the slow style of play, and certainly it is boring to watch. If it works then I guess things will be great in Camel land. Glad to see them win as I was the PC team win this week.

I have not commented on anything about the Camels or their coaching, however the biggest difference I see as of late, is the Camels are taking some open shots now when they have them. They are scoring more points. That wasn't the case earlier in the year. There is no one that wants the Camels to do well more than I. I want the team and coaching staff to do well. I don't always agree with the style of play, when it comes to offense. I haven't really seen anything said on here about defense.I would like to think that everyone knows you have to play good defense, but you as well have to score more points than the team your playing to win. If you don't have some big bodies to get inside with the ball, you need to shoot the jump shot. Earlier in the year I thought the Camels passed up a great many open shots that they are taking now. So it could be that the coaches have changed their earlier mind set to keep the games so low scoring and bump up their offense. I don't care if we win 35- 26 or 60- 55 as long as we win. Slowing down the other teams offense with good defense, should have nothing to do with your offense. I think that was the thing most frustrating to many of the Camel faithful. I wish Scoot Code the very best, but he wasn't the coach before he came to Campbell County, he was an assistant. He hasn't had the same kind of team to coach at Campbell as they had for several years at his previous assistant coaching job. He and the Camels will be fine, everyone will grow and get better as they get more experience.
