Wow I thought Dayton would win but didn't expect to see them win by 42 points.

 

The Devils just might end Beechwood's run of DIII championships this year.

Dayton is a good team, but those rebound numbers are insane.

Dayton outrebounded them something like 61-28!

Hold on there Devil! I was at this game and in no way was Bellevue going to win this one. Bellevue returns one starter and Dayton returns all five. Bellevue gave Dayton trouble with their zone the first half. If Bellevue sticks with the zone all game this is a much closer game. NO WAY Dayton puts up 100 on Bellevue. Especially once Bellevue conceeded the game and pulled starters and Dayton did not follow suit. I agree Dayton was and is the better team but not 42 points better. I am sure Bellevue wont make the same mistake twice.

The only starters that were not in for Bellevue were the ones who had fouled out. You may not know as much about this Dayton team as you think, they have 9 seniors and any of them are capable of starting at any time so you may have been a little confused on who were starters and who weren't because they are all interchangable. All 11 players for Dayton got in the game. Dayton simply played hard from the opening tip to the final buzzer, no matter who was in the game and that is exactly what a team should do.

 

I agree that the zone could have made this a closer game, but obviously Bellevue's coach doesn't agree or he would have stayed in it.

 

As for the bolded sentence, if they weren't 42 points better then I believe the score would have been a little different :sssh:

Dayton could definitely name the score against Bellevue. IMO Bellevue was undisciplined on offense and was content just throwing up 3s. Dayton to a man is the much better team. As much as I am not a fan of the Dayton Coach, he did a excellent job of subbing his players and also keeping his players under control in a volatile situation. If I remember correct Eastin sat on the bench for a long spell in the first half. The Devils seized control of the game without him. I am not sure if there first 9 guys are interchangeable but then again after last nite I am probably wrong. Also IMO Bellevue will be fine under Bo, he cares about those kids and he coached the entire game last nite.Maybe he could give Coach Eckstein a few pointers on sportsmanship and we would probably see more bench players at the end of these blowouts. Great Job by both student sections, absolutely hilarious.

Dayton did play good freshmen.jv varisty. I also think Bellevue new coach will do well. My concern is their bad sportsman ship. the last 2 years they have really bad fouls that where intent to hurt somebody. In the jv game after the buzzer went off a 6ft4 sr pushed a 6ft sophmore with intent to hurt this young man.This was uncalled for and I hope Bellevue does the right thing. the funny thing was after the game this Bellevue kid mom was outside wanting to find this kid afterwards to finish what her kid started. what are the rules for playing a Senior in JV?

Not sure about the rule, it is usually a numbers situation or if the senior has never played etc. More common to see that at small schools.

 

As far as you saying it was the Bellevue players intent to hurt the Dayton player, unless you know the facts to what happened on the court that is a tough statement. Also I am sure that the Dayton player was no Angel in the situation either. It is a very heated rivalry between these schools, and I am sure it was one of those games where it was no blood no foul!:bunny:

What in the world are you talking about? Both Beau and Dave display very good sportmanship skills. That is probably is goofiest thing I have heard since, I heard Barack was accepting his Nobel Peace Prize.:eek:

 

If you want to bring up sportmanship in blowouts, let's reference Dilts' decision to continue to press when Bellevue had conceded the game and put their subs in, while Dayton left their starters/6th&7th man in the game (pressing). Or how about Dilts' blowing up on Bellevue's AD after his JV player got ejected...what a quality display of sportsmanship!

Sounds like whatever happened in the JV game was taken out on the Tigers in the Varsity game. Just remember, you reap what you sew. However, since Dayton has been down for many years I am sure they are anxious to try and take as many teams out to the woodshed as they can. I dont blame em, it was only a few years ago they were struggling to win a game. Coach Menefee will do a fine job, he has the tenacity to create tough kids who want to play defense. The only question at Bellevue is going to be how are they goiing to make the younger kids better? They need to start working with the grade school kids and putting them in competetive leagues and stressing fundamentals. It was only a couple years ago that I heard they had JR's and Sr's that struggled doing reverse dribbling and other fundamental things.

After I saw them play HC I was sold this team would win some games this year. They are a physical, experienced ball club and they have the ability to give a lot of 9th region teams some trouble this year. Come district play this team may give NCC, Newport and Highlands a run for their money. I know I wouldn't want to draw them.

Dilt's was right to go off maybe not on the AD but maybe the refs in that JV game.That kid from Dayton has to sit out next game cause of other peoples actions. Nobody can tell me they wouldn't react the same way as that Dayton boy walking up the court After the buzzer goes off. I know heat of the battle,Rivalry or whatever this kid almost went face down from a two handed shove from behind a good 5 seconds after the buzzer.Dilts was right to blow up.Like I said 2 yrs in a row something like that happen except last year the boy got hurt.

Are you serious? Has the right to blow up? Did we both see the same game? It doesn't matter what happened on that court and I'm not at all defending the Bellevue player for his actions. Bottom line - Dilts is the head coach and the "adult" here and should be leading by example.
