A Coach needs to worry about keeping his own house clean before getting upset with another programs kids.

 

This rivalry is heated both sides know it, deal with it in your own house accordingly!

Dayton did play good freshmen.jv varisty. I also think Bellevue new coach will do well. My concern is their bad sportsman ship. the last 2 years they have really bad fouls that where intent to hurt somebody. In the jv game after the buzzer went off a 6ft4 sr pushed a 6ft sophmore with intent to hurt this young man.This was uncalled for and I hope Bellevue does the right thing. the funny thing was after the game this Bellevue kid mom was outside wanting to find this kid afterwards to finish what her kid started. what are the rules for playing a Senior in JV?

Absolutely he should protect his kids !! There are many ways he could of protected his kids that didn't involve having to be seperated and held back from his two assistant coaches in the middle of a high school gym with a room full of students and parents. What would of happen if his coaches wouldn't of held him back?? Attack the referee's or the player ?? That's classy!!

So late in the JV game a Dayton player gets waylaid by a Bellevue player. Was a foul called? Was a flagrant foul called? Did this happen after the game ended?

 

Dilts is the varsity coach, correct? So how does he enter into this? Why did he go after the Bellevue AD? What did he want the AD to do?

If you want to bring up sportmanship in blowouts, let's reference Dilts' decision to continue to press when Bellevue had conceded the game and put their subs in, while Dayton left their starters/6th&7th man in the game (pressing). Or how about Dilts' blowing up on Bellevue's AD after his JV player got ejected...what a quality display of sportsmanship!

Buddy, what in the world are you talking about? Obviously you did not go to the Dayton/Bellevue football game this year. Eckstein giving Ricky carries, up 5 touchdowns, now is that your idea of class? Or when he does everything he can to get Sullivan in the end zone to rub it in Dayton peoples faces, is that your idea of class? Or was it when Eckstein and some of his players were over there taking a leak in full view of everyone during halftime? Again, is that your idea of class? Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about. Although I feel bad for the Bellevue kids. I felt even worse for the Dayton kids when Eckstein, on purpose, ran his players through the Dayton players warming up before the game even started. So buddy get your facts straight before you start talking about sportsmanship. Also just a little bit of my opinion, if Eckstein had so much class he's still be at Ryle now wouldn't he!

The Bellevue Community and Bellevue Schools and especially the Bellevue students are so lucky and fortunate that Coach is not at Ryle and we were lucky enough to have him as a part of our family. You don't get it !!! But good try.

JB I think you are just a sore loser supporting a program who is on a down cycle. Give the kids their props. As far as coach Eckstein goes I am sure he would love to discuss his strategies with you concerning the game of football once you admit you know nothing about the game and are willing to learn. I have seen Dayton football field. Could be the worse facilities in high school football, step up clean up your house! Does it even have running water!

 

Now lets get back on the basketball forum and leave last fall behind, get Coach E next fall when he has a dog in the fight.

Yes, after the JV game ended. The Dayton player had secured the rebound as time expired, he starts to walk up the floor to his bench and is pushed from behind by the Bellevue player. It was probably a good 5 seconds from when the buzzer sounded and both benches were already up and lining up to shake hands. This also happened in front of the Bellevue bench as the players were standing up and the large student section was starting to enter on the other side of the floor, so you can imagine that it felt like everyone was on top of you. The Dayton player retaliated and then in was broken up quickly.

 

Dilts is the varsity coach and he plays into this because he saw the whole thing transpire, acted immediately to get his player off the floor and then went to get an explanation from the officials. Not sure what went on with the Bellevue AD as I did not see it. I do know that this is the 2nd year in a row that a Bellevue player has given a Dayton player a cheap shot. Last year it was in the freshman game and the player was hurt and missed the rest of the season. Whatever Coach Dilts said to the AD was probably well deserved IMO and I believe he has every right to protect his players.

 

My guess is he wanted the AD to act faster and have control of his players and students, but :idunno:

First off, this is not the forum for expressing your political views.

 

As far as Dilts' decision to continue to press during the game, Dayton dressed only 11 players that night and all of them received playing time with 9 of them seeing significant time (10+ minues). If you do the math, you have to keep one of your 1-7 guys in there just to field a 5 and they were all being rotated as they would get tired because the Greendevils played hard the whole game.

 

And IMO, if you are a pressing team, what is the reasoning in taking your press off when you put your reserves in the game. You want everyone on your team to play with the same intensity no matter who is in the game with them or against them. Those players have to get the experience they need doing those things in a game situation and they may rarely get an opportunity. It is a long season and you need everyone at their sharpest to compete at a high level.

 

You couldn't have asked for a better preformance from the Greendevils top to bottom, the intensity was there throughout the whole game and they played great as a team. There is no substitute for that in practice and these kinds of experiences are necessary for players to grow IMO, you either finish or get finished.
