Man that is really impressive and a great accomplishment for this young man. Way to go!

Elliott didn't look their best tonight but had a lot of bright spots. Jacob Ison played a career game with many more to come; one of the best big men in the 16th region( I would love to know his stats and rebounds). Barnhill was a stud and Elliott really had no answer for him in the first half, but made some halftime adjustments and played him better in the second. Timmy Knipp really had an off night forcing bad shots and picking bad times to try to take over the game. Elliott will surprise alot of teams this year I look for them to only loose about 6 or 7 games going into District. Hats off to East because they came in the Hook and got a win in a hostile environment! But IMO they really played above themselves tonight and shot above their team average. Good game and I hope tomorrow night will not be so close. Elliott is young and will be a solid team at the end if they play their cards right and the kids bye into the system. Timmy had an off night and it will be scary for a lot of teams when he has a Timmy Knipp night; if he would have made half the bad shots he took he would have had 50. And the scary thing is they are all juniors and with a couple more players playing some key roles and trying to find a 6 and seventh man sky is the limit. Go Lions!!!!!!

Shelby Valley won't make it out of the region this year. Shelby Valley is only good depending on how Justice shows up. He can't do it all and IMO doesn't have really good help around him no great shooter, ball handler, BIG man, etc. Mark my word!

From what I understand Elliott County only has 12 kids for both varsity and JV. I know that they have some talent players in Knipp, Ison, and Nickel but how in the world can this happen with such a great team the last 4 years. You would think that kids would want to come out and get recognition for being a Elliott County basketball player. I could be wrong but this is word of the mouth and you know how that is. Do you think this hurts Knipp because he didn't transfer to another school? Blows my mind!!! :eyeonyou:

Isn't he close to the state rushing record as well. Great numbers he has but can he compete with the higher classes.

Really proud to see LC get a taste of what football in that town means. It was the first game in a while where the kids really got the full effect of what football means in Louisa. So proud of these kids and especially Luke Sammons on a great job coming in and doing what needed to be done. These kids have been through more adversity than I could imagine and too fight while never giving up is a great honor to them. They have a long way to go but this is defiantly a great time in Louisa again. GO DAWGS!!!!!!

I agree this site used to be filled with bulldog faithful and we need to do better in supporting these kids.

I support the Dawgs and believe they can pull this one off; must play mistake free football including no turnovers. If they do that then the Dawgs come out victorious!!!! LC 21 SC 14

I know that West had 18 carries in the East Carter game cause I was there. I am not positive but I think Gibson was pretty low too; someone help me out on that one.

I don't really think that it should matter where you are from but it is crazy to say that Eastern Kentucky doesn't get looked down upon when it comes to Mr. Football. I think that the last to do it was Tim Couch almost 15 years ago.:eek: I am from Lawrence County and just from my experience of football there you had the what was all-time leading receiver in KY history Gerad Parker and the 3rd all-time leading rusher in Michael West and his stats speak for themselves, but neither was really up for the hunt. Gerad at the time was 2nd in the nation all-time and got beat by highlands in the state semis and was a commit to Kentucky. And when you look at the state's all-time leading passer you see a lot of Eastern Kentucky boys. Might be me but they are a lot of good players in this area and in my opinion some of the best, but how many players are really deserving from Eastern Kentucky in the past that haven't got it. I hope that Fugate can change it all and that is why I hope that he wins it for this part of the state. He has got my vote.:ylsuper:

Will be leaving work at about 12:00 on Thursday and not returning to the office till Monday; turning my phone off cause I need a break.:banana: Driving from Ashland to Sandy Hook to meet the wife after she gets out of school (she is a teacher). Going down and watching the Valley and Mason County royals. Then I will be watching the team that I am going to support the Elliott County Lions. Will be there as long as they are but if worst case scenario happens then I will probably stay until Saturday morning with my father-in-law. I can't wait to get down there and walk into Rupp for the first time since last year (besides Kentucky games) and see the crowds cheering for their teams, that is one of my favorite times of the year, enjoying all that Rupp has to offer the boys sweet 16.

And he will only get better, watching him some this year I was very impressed. If I wasn't an Elliott County fan I would say that he is the best point guard in the state; just me being biased and plus he has another year. Defiantly next year he will be my favorite and a front runner for Mr. Basketball. He is the key to how far Shelby Valley can go at Rupp. I give Justice a double :thumb::thumb:

I agree with you but Elliott County wouldn't have a crowd if this was the case. Us adults have to come out in numbers and support our team because it is a very small school. You have got to remember that this is wht makes this tournament so great because we don't have the luxuries of the big student bodies as most classes in Kentucky have.

I'm with you, once I get down there I am not going to worry about anything but watching some great Basketball all over the country and miss a couple days of work; I need it. :thumb:

Rick Jones and AW Hamilton when Scott County beat I believe it was Mason County. It was in the late 90's and it is one of my favorite state tourny games but I was a little younger and it seems fuzzy of what year it occurred. I will never forget Rick Jones standing on the table when he hit that shot at the buzzer.

I want to bring attention to the dicussion by saying why hasn't Holmes won by any significant margin when they slow it down. Yes they do average 40 points and yes they do find a way to win but your telling me that beating Boone by three points couldn't have went either way.

We could go on for days about who is the best and why they will win. I think that we would agree that these two teams are defanetly in the top three of the tournament and we both hope that they meet each other. If it does work out the way we hope for then our teams can battle it out on the court. Goodluck to your team! :thumb:

If Elliott is hitting above 50% I don't care who you are, you can't guard them all. Defense does win championships I totally agree with you. But most teams don't have five guys who can hit from ANYWHERE on the court. Most of the teams that can do that at any level have pretty good success. You are talking about Holmes like they are the best and most athletic team this state has ever seen. Athlete's to me mean individuality on a team; they are the most athletic and have the most promising future to better themselves in the long run; which is great for any young man. But I don't hear you talk about how good of a team they are as a whole but just how great they are with their wingspan, height, abilities, and how they create matchup problems. Elliott is a team that has five guys who play together and I think that when five guy's play together it makes the 3 or 4 athletes fall that much harder; in this case because Elliott has 5 solid players. You are rooting for your team just as I am but I have watch Holmes play this season just as you have and I hope that you wouldn’t say that Holmes gels as the best team in the state. They are mentally weak and mostly hurts themselves in the games I have seen, athletic ability has carried them, but how far can that take you; maybe all the way but the way you talk it might leave you scratching your head about what they need to improve on. This team is a great team no doubt but they have a lot to improve on. They probably will give Elliott fits but you are not ready for what you will see as well. Elliott has a different style of play that you haven’t seen and they are a different team than you have previously witnessed (I think that you said you seen them last year and a couple of times on TV). I just hope that if Holmes gets beat by any team, that you are not to modest to say that Holmes won’t win the big one until they get better as a TEAM. Elliott might win it all and might not but if they do play Holmes they will be the better TEAM and we will see if “athlete’s can beat a TEAM”. Goodluck to both Holmes and Elliott!
