Elliott County has low turnout

Featured Replies

From what I understand Elliott County only has 12 kids for both varsity and JV. I know that they have some talent players in Knipp, Ison, and Nickel but how in the world can this happen with such a great team the last 4 years. You would think that kids would want to come out and get recognition for being a Elliott County basketball player. I could be wrong but this is word of the mouth and you know how that is. Do you think this hurts Knipp because he didn't transfer to another school? Blows my mind!!! :eyeonyou:

Elliott will be fine, when you have the best player in the state on your team and some other fine players to go with him it goes along way! I've said all along I expect them back at the state tourney as we will see improvement with this bunch throughout the year.

Did they get a transfer?

Is this really a problem? I thought the coach only plays 5 or 6?

Knipp is a very good player but I question "best player in the state"?

They have a new coach this year Coach Mays retired. One of his assistants has taken over the head coaching job. However, this low turnout could be the reason they have so few playing this year. Not developing other players and giving them a chance to play is probably coming back to bite them this year.

I agree!:D

It could be because the entire region is out to get them for the past 4 seasons of blow outs and running up the score. Timmy Knipp is a good player, but not even close to the best player in the state.

You're on to something. Maybe all the coaches and players in the region are holding all those kids in Sandy Hook hostage as they chomp at the bit to be released so that they can star on the hardwood for Elliott Co.

Perhaps it's like any other small school and sometimes you have classes full of boys who want to play and other years you don't. Could it not be that simple instead of a conspiracy theory?

They probably could have went to state with 4 players last year I would hate to see what they could do with 12.

According to popular opinion in SANDY HOOK this years team will be better than last 4yrs. Im sure they will win several games as the schedule is not even close to what the others played.

Gotta love it! :ylsuper:

Elliott Co. played a pretty good schedule last year, but it couldn't get much weaker than its been in the past IMO to be a good team. They had a great run. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain it.

Well if you thought it was weak before wait until you see this years!

It is halloween time you know. Seems like the ghosts of Elliott past won't let the spirit of the last couple of season's die. Rather they'd much prefer to remark on how poor the team is in comparison, rake on the schedule this season or the low numbers. Blasphemy to even think that this year's team might be decent. How dare anyone think that!:ohbrother:

Elliott county coaches may not like to hear this but when middle school coaches play kids three or four year younger over older kids. The result usually is those kids get tired of it and quit. Reap what you sow. Just my take on it. Elliott does has some young talent in the middle school couple of twins again.:scared:
