No points were scored for the first 4 minutes but Elliott improves to 11-4 and gets a big district win (2-1 in the district). Knipp comes into the game he was averaging 31.4 points and 12 rebounds a game (averaging a double-double :scared:). Tonight he had 30 and was around his average to stay atop the state. Elliott County fans have dispersed because most of them was band wagoners from all over the tri-state area and state. Most people watched them play one or two times and decided that they would become Elliott County followers. I think that it is funny that people don't give enough credit to Elliott County basketball team of the present. This whole thread started on the notion that Elliott has fallen off their rein and disappeared from the earth due to the graduation of such a great class (which is the case to most). But if you haven't noticed Elliott has the top scorer in the state, a great little point guard, and the best true big man in the 16th region IMO with a good surrounding cast of a couple of players. I think that it says more volume for this team to be doing what they are doing with the loss of so many once in a decade players, rather than just fallen off the earth. If you come to a game to Sandy Hook it is still a very hostile environment with the same faces in the crowd and a packed house every night. Many people outside the program threw fuel on the fire last year with the team they thought was one of the greatest they have ever seen (wish was no different for me either). If I was a young man and played on Elliott's team last year and didn't get to play probably 20 minutes the whole season and come into this year with what people think is a rebuilding year; I would probably struggle. But these kids have done the opposite with only one player playing a substantial amount of playing time last year and really getting experience and go 10-4 to start the season. They will compete this year in the Region and will be one of the favorites if not the favorite before the season is over. My hats goes off to these kids because they are still pushing through and continuing the success of Elliott County basketball when so many have left them, outside the program to perish.

I would take Michael West from Lawrence 2002 over Beach since they were in the same district and played three times, West dominated him every time over a three year span;based on a three year total comparison and rushed for almost 2,000 more yards than he did in the same amount of playing time. IMO I believe that others are more deserving than both these players even tho both were great in their own aspects. Also, I know that he wasn't a great college player but Gerad Parker and Montrell Jones are worthy mentioning because of sheer numbers.

I am not sure! An estimate is probably a little over 20; the starters didn't play their normal minutes tonight. Elliott plays in the Raceland tournament this weekend where they can meet Ashland on Sunday. They play Cooper on Saturday and should win along with Ashland; should be an exciting game I can't wait!

Don't know if I am accurate but only off by a couple points. Wasn't much of a contest the whole game. Boyd has a young team and hope they can make some progress this season or in the near future. Go Lions!!!

What about Chief Orb Bowling who played for Tennessee. Yea Kidd did transfer but I would say he is still on the top 5.

Hats off to Southern, seemed liked they had some really good players. Elliott plays in the third place game at 6:00. I think Knipp had a lot of shots tonight again but his average is going to be ridiculous, but does that really help your team out?

What has happened to Boyd County! They had some really strong teams in school history and have fell off the map in the last 5 or 6 years. Talent comes and goes tho I guess in this situation.

Only radio station that carry it are 102.9 out of west liberty but the cougars are playing tonight so it is on delay at 9:30. Knipp had a triple double last night as well 30 points, 18 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Pretty impressive when I found this out today. They play at 7:30 tonight!

I keep telling people this might not be last years team but they are still very very talented. So happy for the Lions but they got a long season a lot can happen!!!

I was at both games and thought their wasn't much of a difference in the two teams Morgan still had some decent players. But I totally agree with you that is a lot to loose! But it is still better than Elliott's one player seeing minutes last year; least they had 2...lol..fun jokes

Elliott almost got beat last year at Morgan and Morgan didn't graduate a whole lot. Elliott's size is a lot of trouble if you don't have any big men you won't beat them. Morgan didn't have a player over 6'3'' and it really was hard for them to get any offense at all!

Final score! Elliott controlled the whole game starters only played about 2 1/2 quarters. Knipp only played about 15 minutes the whole game. Go Lions!!!!!
