Elliott County 77 West Carter 73

Featured Replies

No points were scored for the first 4 minutes but Elliott improves to 11-4 and gets a big district win (2-1 in the district). Knipp comes into the game he was averaging 31.4 points and 12 rebounds a game (averaging a double-double :scared:). Tonight he had 30 and was around his average to stay atop the state. Four players in double figures which says a lot about the progress of the team. Go Lions!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa

West was only 14-28 from the line for the game.

West Carter freshmen Kyle Brown had 24 points with 6-13 from 3pt range.

Timmy Knipp 30 points 10-25 from the field 3-7 from 3pt. range.

All of this without Rayburn. Gonna be fun to see who gets to Morehead out of that district.

Kyle is going to be a dandy player but as we all know it runs in the family :D, so happy to see this young man doing so well because he is a great young individual.

Coach Webb is doing a very good job. 7 points loss at East and only lost to by 4 to Elliott both without their best player Aaron Rayburn. If Rayburn can come back at full strength West will be a tough out come the end of Feb.

Kyle Brown hit a three with 2.0 seconds left so it sounds a little better than it was but you are right and this district is wide open just as the Region. Elliott isn't a team right know that is playing near full potential and we probably won't see that until next season (which isn't a excuse but these kids just don't have experience) IMO. But they know every game is a dog fight and the district and region will be very interesting I totally agree.

I listened to the game. Elliott went on an 8-0 run late that West couldn't recover from. I understand it's early, but West was without their best player. Can't discount that. Not a knock on Elliott in the least. But someone is staying home when regional tourney rolls around, and frankly, it wouldn't be a surprise no matter who it was.

Funny there was a battle in the district last year not to finish in the 4th seed so to avoid Elliott. This year there will be a battle for the 1 seed to play Morgan who is somewhat down this season. Whoever plays the 2 v. 3 seed between East, West, and Elliott will be a very good game to see.

Battle is a good way to put it.

Rayburn's injury could be a blessing in disguise for the team as a whole. Hate that the kid went down like that, but it really could benefit the Comets in the long run.

Kyle Brown is on his way to becoming a very good basketball player. I think he has a great feel for the game, and I think his most underrated aspect is his passing. His court vison for a young guy is very good IMO.

Coach Webb continues to amaze. He is becoming one of the best coaches in the region, West on most nights is an extremely tough out IMO.

I thought about that. I think it's already benefitted the Comets for the long run. Alot of players seem to be getting more comfortable on the court. They play alot of younger guys and those guys are getting used to varsity basketball. When Rayburn returns they will be tough for most teams they match up with.

Also wanted to give a shout out to two players, it was my first time watching the Comets in a while and I thought that Eldridge and Lawson played extremely well IMO. Thought Bond played very solid as well. Comets just couldn't get the points when they needed them tonight. It's ok, I think that in the future they will be able to pull out these types of games.:thumb:

I forgot to add that I thought Elliott played pretty well. A couple of their players were hitting some big shots, I think one kid hit 3 or 4 threes in a row.

I think if Elliott would play the style they used in the 2nd half they would be a tough out inside the region for probably anyone. Knipp is a tough player, and I think he be nearly unstoppable if he wanted to be. An aggressive Timmy Knipp is a nightmare to defend for most teams in KY IMO.
