As is high school basketball everywhere at least in the state of Ky. Go to a game anywhere and look at the students in the crowd. It's really sad that kids don't go to games anymore. As for the championship game look at the teams in the game and tell me what kind of crowd they draw. I know that CovCath had a great crowd when they won in 2014.

The old format was a terrible format. Whoever drew the last game of the opening round was at a huge disadvantage. I understand that kids play multiple games in a day in AAU but in the old format if you drew the last game you played at 8:00 pm on Thursday which meant you got started closer to 8:30 pm, If you won you did the same thing on Friday night. If you won that game you had to come back at 11:30 am the next morning and then 8:00 pm that night if you got to the championship game. That meant 4 games in the span of 50 hours and 3 in 26 hours. If you drew the first game in the tournament you played at noon on Wednesday, got Thursday off and then played Friday at noon, Saturday at 10:00 am and Saturday night at 8:00 pm. You tell me that isn't a huge disadvantage. I want to see quality teams at their best to get the best champion. I don't want to see a tired team trying to play on guts alone as Holmes had to do in 1980. For those that can remember that year here is a synopsis. Holmes led by Dickie Beal drew the last game on Thursday night and played Paducah Tilghman, winning 90-77. They then had to go up against a very big Ashland team on Friday night and won 97-92 in 2 ots finishing around midnight. By the time Reynolds Flynn got the team back to the hotel, fed and in bed it was close to 2:30 am thanks to a wreck on the Watterson Expressway. When the team walked out on the floor at 11:30 am the next morning you knew it would be a long morning for them as they looked extremely sluggish. Owensboro blew them out of the gym in what everyone you talked to said would be the real championship game. Anyone who remembers the Holmes 1980 team remembers they relied on their speed and quickness as did the Owensboro team. Lots of people expected a game in the 90s but it was truly one-sided. Now I'm not saying that Holmes would have beaten them given today's format but I know I for one would have liked to see that game under different circumstances. I think the entire crowd was cheated out of that chance.

I absolutely think you are right most people do just look at the final record and in the end it is high school and none of these senior girls will probably play basketball after this year.

Nope not a patent and definitely not a parent! I didn't say I thought it was a bad season. If you read my post I said I agree that it was a very good season. Just wanted to see what others thought. I know there are those that felt the Reds of a few years ago won 90 + games and people said it wasn't a good season because thy beat up on the Astros and Cubs and other bad teams but couldn't beat the good teams. So I wondered how people felt about this team.

I've heard it stated by a few people and I personally agree that the Conner lady cougars had a very good season. They finished 22-12 and went to the semis of the 9th region tournament losing to eventual champion Holmes. Does 22 wins make it a very good season or should they be judged by how they fared against better competition? If you break their record out against above .500 teams and sub .500 teams it looks like this, 19-1 against teams with sub .500 records and 3-11 against teams with records above .500. This was a team that had 5 seniors but did start 2 freshmen who were the leading scorers on the team. So I ask you do you consider 22-12 a very good season knowing that they beat the teams they should have but struggled against the better teams? I know you have to play the teams on your schedule but we have a lot of discussion on here about playing better teams to make your team better. What's your thoughts?

Ryle is 386 for 563 in 29 games 68.6% per KHSAA and up-to-date. Highlands 469 for 633 in 32 games 74.1% also up-to-date.

Couldn't disagree more. Had Cooper been fully healthy their cohesiveness would have been much better. Kunkel and Hendrix were a very tight guard combo and McNeil was unable to fully practice the last month of the season. Add in that with Hendrix going down the last week of the season your bench suddenly becomes a little shorter. A full Cooper team could have and probably would have been much better prepared to beat a good NCC team.

Geez a game highlight thread turns into a recruitment thread. That's never happened on here. I just wasted 15 minutes and found out very little about the actual game. Oh well it's only time.
