A good young coach who played under Riley when he was the defensive coach @ Holmes and carries on his defensive style of tough in your face man-to-man "D" is Tim Sullivan @ Cooper. He got his young Jaguars to the regional semis this year in only their 4th year of existence.

Before the 1997-98 season they put an end to the one-class system and it hasn't been the same. Why is that? Talent level of the top 5 or 6 teams in the 9th region is usually on par with most regions best except the 6th, 7th, 10th and the 11th.

Yes they did but like I said most of those other years were one and done.

Another disappointing trip to Rupp by the 9th region representative. Outside of Holmes 3 year run the 9th region champ has not represented the region very well in the last 10 years. Most of those years they have been one and done.

You guys all have to face it. Most kids could care less about sports if they don't participate in them. They would rather be playing video games, skateboarding, etc. etc. etc. Technology has given kids another avenue to spend their time. Like it or not, they are a product of today's environment.

I'm curious to know if the football team draws a nice crowd to home and away games.

This thread sounds more like a gripe session on coach Carr's ability to put the right personnel on the floor. I'd like to know if these are the same people that praise coach Carr as the top coach in Northern Ky everytime there is a thread on the top coaches. I'm sure coach Carr knows his kids a whole lot better than BGP posters. His kids will play the way HE wants them to or they won't play, bottom line. Be happy you have a coach who cares for his kids and wants to teach them more than just Xs and Os.

After the way his football season ended he might have been a bigger distraction than the coaches needed.

Cooper has always played great defense but I think the big game by Maniacci several weeks ago was his coming out and now they have some players on offense that can score the basketball.

Usually the way to do it is to deny them the ball, but that is not always easy. You have to have the personnel that can do that and sometimes it takes more than one guy. How did Ruthsatz play against Hightchew the time they met? I would assume the two were matched up when they played man defense.

I'd hardly say they are coming in on a roll, having lost 2 of their last 6, both at home, to Conner and Holmes, and squeaking one out at Dayton against Highlands, a team they have beaten twice by a combined total of only 8 points. I think they need to get their chemistry back in order very quickly with only a couple of days to prepare for CovCath. I think CovCath will get refocused after the draining double OT win versus Holy Cross last week and play much better than they did against Holmes friday night. McDonald could clearly be the key here but how healthy is he and can he get up and down the big court quickly enough to be effective against CovCath's quickness? If he cannot he could hurt them especially defensively.

Limiting turnovers and points in transition are big in the bigger arena too.

I think there can be many more to come with coach Sullivan at the helm.

I agree it should make for a great tournament and let's see who will be the last team standing. At least they will have some time off before the state tournament to rest and prepare mentally.
