A ton of freebies in the fourth quarter?

Listened to the game on WCYN. Sounded like the Breds were victimized by a 12-4 run to start the fourth quarter.

 

Gotta love Coach Larry Kendall. In hiis post game he said, "I told those 9th Region refs that if we could get some calls, we could win this thing."

 

10th Region hanging tough against 9th Region competition tonight. Augusta played Cooper tough, and the Breds hung in there with the Bulldogs. Mason County takes out Dixie Heights.

There is no Phillips for the breds. I'm assume it would be Pulliam. Good showing by the breds. They're going to be a tough team come February.

Holmes had 2 guys foul out tonight and HC 1.

 

Up until the final mins when HC HAD TO foul, Holmes had more fouls called on them. Not sure HC fans can complain about the officiating. If you weren't there you really shouldn't comment.

 

HC only had 4 more fouls called on them (28 to Holmes 24).

 

Also, there were ALOT of walks called on BOTH teams...hence the high turnover nnumber.amount. w

His "killer" instincts really came out tonight. Was having a quiet night then gets (what he felt was intentionally) fouled and absolutely took over at both ends after that. Put on a clinic when crossing his man and going to the rim after that.

 

Had one move where he split two defenders by taking the ball through his legs FROM BEHIND then hit a floater over two defenders. His pull up jumper is almost automatic. So smooth. As someone said before...well worth the price of admission.

Walter, I agree almost entirely with your assessment of the game. I was in attendance as well. A couple of exceptions: I didn't see anything that could remotely be construed as an intentional foul by anyone, Harrison or Holmes. The reverse between the legs dribble did not result in points for Bolden...he passed to someone else who scored. Lets not get any urban legends started yet, though he has plenty of time to create some urban facts. He is really good!!

I'm a Harrison Co. supporter and don't think the officials had much bearing on the outcome. There WERE about a half dozen very mysterious walking calls made...not sure what the stripes were seeing that no one else saw. I can see where a good ball handling team with a little size could give Holmes some trouble, especially if the perimeter shot is not falling, which does happen a lot in the post-season. Best team the Breds have played this year, including Scott and Holy Cross. Doesn't mean those two cant beat Holmes. All are good squads.

Who reffed the game?

Couldn't tell you their names. One was a fairly short, solidly built black man. One was a tall white guy and the other was a shorter white guy. A particular play stands out, Holmes player is driving to the bucket down the right side. Harrison Co. defender slides over to help. Tall white official under the basket, black guy in ball side near half court. Shot goes up, collision, both whistles blow, neither official makes a call with fists in the air. Look at each other, still no call. Finally the black guy, still without signaling block or charge, heads to the scorers table, calls foul in defender and allows the basket. Can't argue with the call at all, just the administration was really bad and opened themselves up to ridicule. 50/50 call that could have gone either way. Call was far from "sold".
