  1. It's amazing how poorly kids shoot free throws anymore. Should make at least 70%, and many teams are fortunate to make over 50%. Looks like that hurt HC tonite.
  2. Flu caused cancellation of HC schools today. Thompson is a victim.
  3. Harrison County defeats Scott on the Hilltop. No details.
  4. Call me old school. I don't like all tourney teams, especially for teams that advance to the regional. I especially don't like them when the head coach is left to pick his team's representative(s). I guess in this day of individualism, it's about right to have individual awards in the ultimate team sport. Ugh.
  5. I spent 4 great years at PC. Loved coaching and teaching there. Made lots of good friends. I think a lot of Keaton and his family and think he is very capable, given the chance. However, if what I heard about how the crowd treated Coach Cravens on Tuesday is true, those fans should be ashamed of themselves, adults or students. Evidently, it was bad enough that his wife left in tears. I'm certain I had many detractors there in my tenure, but nothing as overtly hateful and hurtful as that. Shame on you.
  6. Here goes: Campbell over Bracken 68-54 Harrison over GRC 54-52 Brossart over MoCo 56-55 Augusta over Robertson 75-66 Harrison over Campbell 63-62 Brossart over Augusta 66-58 Harrison over Brossart 52-49 Hey, blood's thicker than water. Good luck Little Brother and HC!
  7. Montgomery vs Brossart Augusta vs Robertson I'm sure GRC likes their draw...Harrison probably does too.
  8. Looks like some potentially great first round match-ups in the 10th Region Tournament at Mason County this year. Winners--Augusta, Campbell Co., Harrison Co., Montgomery Co. Runners-up--Brossart, Bracken Co., GRC, Robertson Co.
  9. Tom Wendt at Owensboro Apollo in the 1970s. Tom Boerwinkle at MMI in the 50s.
  10. I believe the final was 70-55. Dillion Pulliam was a DNP for the Breds. Sprained ankle suffered in game-day shoot-around.
  11. Just watched the first half...took advantage of the opportunity to take care of my grandson. Uninspired effort by the Breds vs an inspired effort by Bourbon. Colonels played like the underdog with a chip in their shoulder. Not intimidated by the Breds. Undersized, but controlled the glass on both ends in first half...led by 5 at halftime. Colonels played a 3-2 zone and stifled HC. Made Breds beat them from perimeter...weren't able to shoot them out of the zone.
  12. Wrong Jenkins. Jerry's grandson is Brock, a reserve guard. DJ Jenkins is not related at all.
  13. Early in the third, DJ Jenkins on a breakaway, attempted a backwards lob to Thompson. Simple layup would have put Breds up 12. Instead, Thompson missed dunk, hung on rim and attempted to dunk the miss. Technical foul. Two made FTs by Nicholas, then a trey on the next possession. 5 pt game. Another 3 30 seconds later and it's a two point game. The two players involved in the ill-advised SportsCenter play didn't see the floor again. If those guys would play the game the right way, FOR THE TEAM, they could be pretty good. Too much individualism and too much emphasis on style points by some of these guys.
  14. Harrison jumped ahead 12-2 and never looked back. Running clock in the last 5 minutes of the game, played in the Friendly Confines of the Panther Den in Augusta. A balanced attack for the Breds, coupled with an off night by Bach led the margin. I don't have any stats.
  15. Read in the Lexington Herald that there was quite the ending to this one. Mason's Butler fouled shooting a three at the buzzer, followed by a technical foul in the Fleming coach. Five FTs with no time on the click. Wow! How is Coach Lindsey doing at the helm of the Lady Royals?
  16. Ritchie played. Foul trouble. Ineffective. Neither team looked particularly good. Cooper hit their free throws and was much more efficient offensively than Harrison. I think they were 13/14 from the line in the second half, Harrison was 2/7 from the line. Way too many empty trips for the Breds.
  17. LexCath advances in winners bracket of their tournament. Harrison plays Clinton Co. tomorrow.
  18. Any updates on this one at Mason County's Murph Classic?
  19. It's always been nearly impossible to compare scores to try and determine who will win specific match-ups, especially when one of the schools (Harrison Co.) is out-of-region. Sometimes we "down state" folks probably have a bit of an inferiority complex and feel that some of you guys "up north" might be elitist and somewhat smug.
  20. Harrison County has "plenty of talent" as well. Why is it so difficult for some in NKY to concede that teams outside your area may be pretty good. Harrison County has lost three games (Oldham Co., Madison Central, St. Henry), by a total of 9 points. Irks me.
  21. Final in first round of Murph Classic at Mason Co. Breds move to semis on Friday at 8:30 vs. the winner of tomorrow night's first game of Russell Co./Fleming Co.
  22. Sounds almost like since "lowly" Harrison County defeated Scott, The Eagles must be "in for a long year". I am sure Scott has suffered from graduation losses which make them not as strong as they have been in the past several years, but consider the following: 1. Coach Carr is at the helm of the Eagles ship, and is still considered one of the best coaches around. 2. Harrison County is not exactly chopped liver this year. In their two previous games they lost to Oldham Co. in overtime, on the road, by 2 pts. and lost to defending State Champ Madison Central by 5, in a game they led most of the way. 3. Coach Kendall, when an assistant coach, began a youth program 9 years ago, or so, that has begun reaping rewards all these years later. His hard work is paying off. 4. Harrison County's basketball tradition takes a back seat to few teams in the state. They have won 9 Regional titles in their history, including 3 in the 1990s. Give credit where credit is due. It's not the end of the world when a "down state" team defeats a northern Kentucky team.
  23. Game at Oldham. What kind of team does Oldham have this year? Any details from this game?
  24. You gotta like the Kendall's! No relation, but I'll claim him. Good young man!
