Attended this game last night. Saw a lot of folks I hadn't seen in a while. Coach Don Marston, Greg Shepman, Rick Shepman (asst. at Henry Co.), Doug Fothergill, Rodney Maiden, Bill Hogan. Fairly evenly matched teams. It appeared to me that Carroll Co., coming off a big win at Owen Co., had a let down, while Henry Co. was focused and intent.

Harrison leads Nicholas, at Carlisle, 62-41 with 4 minutes left in the fourth.

Where is this being played?

Harrison Co. is still searching for their first win as they lose a 38th District game to Nicholas Co. in Carlisle. Harrison led by 12, but couldn't hold on.

What kind of crowd did this ge attract? I would assume close to capacity????

Bottom line...both teams played extremely hard, though neither played particularly well. Pendleton didn't shoot very well. Missed a lot of close-in shots. Hope they don't draw each other in district, but won't bet on it. I think Harrison has a few more offensive options than PC. Without Monroe, they would really struggle to score

Years ago, it was very common for a head basketball or football coach to be named AD as well. Simply a way to sweeten the financial package to retain a quality coach. Now, however, the responsibilities of an AD are so far-reaching it should be a full-time job. I do not see how anyone can do justice to the AD position who also teaches a full load AND coaches a sport, either as an assistant or head coach. Perhaps it is more doable at a small school that offers fewer sports, but not at schools that offer all, or nearly all, KHSAA-sanctioned sports.

This is supposed to be the year that the Colonels top the Breds. Easier said than done, though. I'll take the Breds, 5-3.

Four first round games on Monday, May 30; semis on Wednesday; Finals on Thursday...though I think the semis should be on Tuesday and finals on Wednesday...the way it has rained this spring, I'm not sure why you would not try to finish the tournament in three straight days. That way, you could always push it back a day or two, if it does rain. I know Harrison County has graduation on Friday, the day after the finals are scheduled. Not sure about other schools graduation dates.

I understand the logic of calling this a travelling violation, but players have been making this move since Earl the Pearl Monroe was in his prime. As is often the case, I suppose this is one of those infamous "points of emphasis" going into this season. Was it a state-wide, nation-wide or association-wide directive to clean up this "move"? It certainly has not been called consistently among the officials I have seen this year...meaning some officials DO make the call consistently, and some NEVER make the call at all. I guess if you have a player who has this as a favorite move, he may get by with it five games in a row, but may get called for travelling every time he does it the next night.

Interesting video...however, what is that makes one spin move legal, and another illegal? Could you please explain? I have been watching basketball for several decades now, and this year, there were a handful of officials that called every spin move a violation and others who did not blow their whistles at all. Just give a clear and concise explanation as to what makes a spin move illegal.

I believe the Breds were 11 for 24 from the line in the fourth quarter....big-time choke job by them...I ordinarily hate that word, but no other way to describe it.

After being drubbed by the Lady Cats twice in the regular season, the Fillies turned the tables on Pendleton County tonight. Game not as close as final score indicates...Harrison led by 21 with 3 minutes to play. Freshman center Jordan Doram was a load inside for the Fillies. Got good floor games from Pam Custard, Tiffany Snider, Kelsey Cummins, Mariah Nichols and Morgan Florence. Great season for the Fillies so far!! Keep it up ladies!

Harrison County upsets Paris at Earl Redwine Gymnasium, 60-50. The Fillies have to be the surprise team of the 10th Region this year. Improve their record to 13-12. Congrats to Coach Akin and the entire program on a much better than expected season so far.

at Harrison this year and Nicholas next year....will establish the rotation beyond that at the District Meeting on Saturday.

Harrison County showed a lot of toughness in this one. The young Breds are starting to grow up a little and play through adversity. They led by 11 at halftime but saw that lead disappear in the third quarter when Deming actually took the lead. The Breds battled back and won by 11 at the Devil Dome. 38th District draw is this Saturday and three teams hope to draw Nicholas County...it's a tossup between Deming, Harrison and Pendleton. Should be an exciting tournament at Harrison County this year.

Brossart led 35-25 in the third, but Harrison scored 10 straight to tie it up. In the fourth, Harrison County had a one point lead on a couple of occasions, but didn't make the plays they needed to, to pull out the win. Both teams should be much improved next year. Not one of Brossart's better teams in recent years, but still solid on both ends of the floor. Well coached outfit and they play pretty smart basketball. Harrison County had way too many judgement mistakes and too many turnovers handling the ball...dribbling into trouble, trying to pass through defenders instead of over or around...really the kind of mistakes you wouldn' expect from varsity players. But must remember, the bulk of HC players are underclassmen...as are Brossarts.

Final from the Hilltop in Cynthiana. Harrison County unable to overcome a big early dificit..16-3 at the end of one quarter. Inability to hit free throws hurt as well...9 for 20 from the line for the game. Possible 38th District Tournament preview this Friday at Pendleton County.

Final score from the Hilltop. Harrison County hands CC their first loss of the season. I know CC is better than they showed tonite, even though this was the first time I saw them play. Fillies commit 34 turnovers and have three starters foul out (Doram, Nichols and Cummins), but still hold on to win. CC was atrocious from the foul line and as bad from the field. Only several unforced and forced turnovers by Harrison County made this as close as it was.

non-starters for GRC played the last 5 minutes of the 4th period...starters DID play until that point. This year, GRC is certainly the cream of the crop in the 10th...not even close...BUT, they were the heavy favorites last year as well. Strange how the post-season narrows the gap between teams that existed in the regular season. To me, it would be a monumental upset if someone other than GRC takes the 10th Region crown this year...still it COULD happen. Next year, it will be a wide open region with 6-8 teams having a legitimate shot, depending on how young players develope.

GRC at Harrison County rescheduled for Jan. 19 ... JV at 6, varsity at 7:30

Breds down 19-6 early in 2nd quarter, ralied to tie it at halftime, 20-20. Second half, Harrison up the entire way. Breds are an improving team with several solid underclasmen. The lone senior, point guard Eric Sanders is doing a nice job of leading this young team. Very bright next couple of years for the Breds.
