Although there were some questionable calls and no calls, the refs did have better control of this game than the other games I've seen so far this year. I did notice that they called a lot of fouls in the first half and let them play off an on in the second half. A lot of the second half fouls for Conner were at the end when they were trying to get the ball back after the Boone 1/1. Both teams struggled a bit from the free throw line.

I also think the Brown Pike match up with Boone Dixie will be a good one, there will be a lot of contact in that game as well. Pike and Trammel played with a lot of the Boone boys before and during high school.

Not sure about Boone leading the region in scoring back then but it's something to look up. The foul calling was very strange and had a lot of fans scratching their heads on both sides. There's a lot of basketball left and teams will only get better, so nothing is a given as to who will end up on top.

Boone usually isn't a real thrill on the scoreboard by putting up a bunch of points, but as long as their long arm defense can force teams to work hard for a single shot and not allow second chance baskets they can keep the scores in 50"s. If they choose to run and gun, that may be a different story that doesn't suit the teams line up. Once again, Boone did not have a players firing, and had to sit key players for foul trouble, so once they get everyone going, they may put up 70+.

Not sure yet, but I think 20+, I think the big guys from both teams had their hands tied the first half because of some touchy foul calls. Conner was able to throw several bench players on the floor to help stay in the game for the first half.

Kids will be kids. Glad we're there to watch basketball and not them. The CCH crowd should give everyone a class on proper cheer etiquette

A big game like that, you would hope a team would come to play. No excuses about poor play, Boone just outplayed Conner in the second half. Give credit where credit is due. Good job Rebels.

"I've seen Boone and Holmes is better." Walter is this a fact because I have yet to see Holmes. Boone has yet to play a complete game where everyone is firing on all cylinders. I know Holmes will compete with just about everyone, but I wouldn't jump the gun and put Holmes ahead of any of the top 3 teams just yet.

I agree..there was quite a few questionable calls in this game. It was so bad both ways that it didn't really decide the game.

This will be a good test for Doss against the post players of Conner. Didn't really hear much about him in the pre season talk or through the summer AAU circuit, so it'll be interesting to see how he has come along in the SK system. For the game results, I think Conner will take this one on their home court.

What happened? Is there a bug going around?

One on One is hard to stop Brown and if they double down Boone has other key players that will hurt you just as bad. As long as this team remains unselfish, and everyone plays their role, they should be difficult to play with. Crabtree is coming in to play now that he's getting comfortable on the court. 6'9" with improving skills is definitely going to be hard to stop.

Could be they see Ryle as having a great team and no individual superior standouts as seniors. IMO.....Hemple of course could play in this game as well as a couple of other Raiders.

Looks like the Kentucky team will run the spread with no Tight Ends on the roster, unless they plan to develope an HB into TE in three days.

Zane McCreary may be able to shoot them out of that zone. He has had a good start in the first two games. This should definitely be a good game to watch and see how the teams respond to each others strengths.

Boone and Conner won't play until Friday. Boone is at Holy Cross tomorrow night. BTW......Thanks for the instructions!

Could someone please remind me how to block a poster. There's too many games in a basketball season to listen to the noise of UK#1fan. I think he's still hurting from the football loss to Ryle.

No ejections, just an intentional foul called on a Ryle player. The refs let them play and allowed them to do some serious banging underneath and the Rebels were on the better end of that battle. The boys from both squads were playing with a lot of emotion and that made for an excellent game.

Even with the feeder programs starting in NKY football, not just Ryle, IMO no NKY school will exceed the level of Trinity or St.X in football. When you're only allowed to play with the hand your dealt, it's hard to beat a well selected hand. It's just how it is. We can believe, dream, hope and build all we want, but as a previous poster said, our NKY talent is too widespread among the district restricted schools to build a well stacked dominant squad.

I heard it was girls then boys, is that later this season?

Saw a little bit of the scrimmage, they were up and down, need to get focused on running the court and playing defense. The guards/players can shoot when/if needed, several of the boys can knock down 3's from what I saw: Montgomery, Downs, Stanley, McQueary, Pitts, maybe more, I didn't see all of the scrimmages. They all have nice jumpers around the basket as well. And, as much as Travis and Trevan rebound, they should have some nice put backs when there are misses. I think they'll hammer it down low when it makes sense and pull it out to the guards when needed. First game Tuesday against Ryle, double header with girs varsity playing first and then boys, should be a great game, those two teams were very closely matched last season, boys and girls.
