My statement last year never said Bardo was a bad or unproven QB or anything to that sort. If you can find that somewhere, then you can call me out......if it makes you feel better. You are right about Pike possibly not being a college QB, so why all of the negative comments? Call it what you want, nick pick how you want, but the fact is Zeke has offers to play college ball and if anyone is jealous of that, man up and admit it and stop belly-aching about the kids abilities. There's a difference between passing out high praise to a kid that has no offers as to giving credit and praise to a kid who has received multiple offers. If Pike entered the season not receiving any offers then he too would fall into the category I mentioned last year. I personally have not praised Pike, but if he is getting offers, we should all congratulate him instead of crying about the fact the has not started a varsity "High School" game. Did Bardo have offers prior to the start of last years season? And this is not a knock against Bardo, just a question that I am unsure of the answer. Notice that I quoted "high praise", there's a difference in the level of recognition.

Not really, What this means is that in a high school environment alone you have to prove yourself on the field. If you can go to a college camp and impress the college coaches enough to earn an individual scholarship, what you do as a team in high school is mute. No one on BGP has preached Pike up to be a top notch QB like people were doing last year with Bardo pre-season. His acknowledgement on here now is due to the many offers he has received from colleges by performing in front of some coaches that have more credibility than a bunch of couch potato bloggers. So I stand by my comment because Pike has nothing to prove to any of us as long as he continues to impress college scouts.

It wasn't just one combine. Apparently he has been doing several camps and visits to show his skills. Unless you are in competition with Zeke for a scholarship, it's very immature for anyone to berate his abilites or the perception that college recruiters have of him. Just as Shutitdown said, there's way too much Haterade towards this kid!

I think this all depends on how Boone chooses to use Brown. The kid is a big and strong athlete that can contribute in some way.

It's very common for high school athletes to improve on their 40 times. Most high schoolers have not experienced really good speed training techniques and are still developing muscle strength that increases speed, and once they go through this proper training the results begin to show. As a college athlete you should have already been through this training and should be at your top end of speed ability, so the comparison is no where near equal. What's the reason behind saying that "It just seems highly unlikely though that Boone is doing something different that is dropping a forty time by 3-4 tenths of a second." Perhaps it's not the program but the individual himself who has chosen to seek better ways to improve his ability. I know a few Boone kids that are doing extra training outside the program and the positive results are there.

just looked at last years stats and Oppenheimer averaged 6.01 yds with 106 attempts and total yards of 638. Elliot averaged 6.79 yds with 238 attempts and total yards of 1617. If Oppenheimer is to be the main rb this year and he gets the load of the carries, he could be just as productive as Elliot. Oppenheimer, Bradley and Elliot all have the ability to produce some BIG numbers in the upcoming season in this district.

For the comments about Oppenheimer's speed time. It is possible to increase your speed over time with the proper training. Unless you held the clock in your hand at the time he ran, you shouldn't deny the claim. Why can't you just say congrats and admit that it looks like the kid is improving on his speed to go with his power running style.

Web sites don't mean jack. There's tons of kids that sign but are never mentioned on the sites. Unless you have inside information, you shouldn't speak to the knowledge of what attention a kid is getting from colleges.

You are dead wrong! Bradley is getting coaches at the school and phone calls. Web sites are not updated by the coaches, so that means nothing to the outsiders looking for info. Trust me, Bradley is being actively recruited by some DI schools.

You are very correct. D1 receivers are 6 feet plus and to be a competing safety in college, you need some height as well as speed.

I think St. X will have more overall team talent and that's what it takes to win, not to mention a very good coaching staff. I recognize thesecomments in similarity to another poster on this site that made some other pretty funny predictions and assumptions. Who are the two D1 recruits that HC has?

Wow! Maybe Boone should just forfeit this one! 4 players on a team over 290 means nothing in a game that requires 11 skilled players on the field. I do know Henry Clay has some top notch receivers that the Boone defense will have to deal with just as Henry Clay may see some surprises from Boone! I'm sure St.X, Trinity and a few others will have something to say about the Henry Clay; according to you being "the top team in 6A".

I never really knew what Henley's coaching style was, but I did know he had some very talented kids on the floor. I do think Booher will have to coach a little more because I just don't see the underclassmen having the combined talent level of the top two from 2009 and the big three from 2010. If they can run an up-tempo game for four quaters, I'm sure the kids will enjoy playing for this coach and success will come.

Holmes could have Pat Riley coaching it doesn't really matter who's there. The talent level of the last two senior classes is what they have thrived on. I'm sure the Holmes fans are excited about something new there, but the other area schools will be just fine with how they choose to control or manage their game. Press breaking is possible.

I think Boone will be better than last year and so will Cooper. But to say there's "no way" Boone beats Cooper is overkill.

That's called slow pitch softball! Not a terrible idea, but it would be almost impossible to try and create a realistic format to control the speed of a pitch throughout an entire 6 or 9 inning game. A perfect strike called an illegal pitch because it's too fast? I don't think that one would fly. If this did happen, then kids would be forced (or coaches would be teaching) them to start trying curve balls and other unhealthy off speed pitching techniques for such a young arm. Tough situation all around.

I'd rather kill an industry than kill a kid! These companies can survive off the production of wooden bats, softball bats, gloves and all the other money making proucts they produce. I agree baseball is ONE OF the greatest sports out there and we shouldn't be making it to where kids are afraid to step on the diamond. If you honestly think that "Some times getting hit is good for a kid. :lol: (Not nailed in the head with a 60 mph line drive, but taking a ground ball in the face is good, teaches them to man up" then I hope you aren't coaching youth kids. Getting nailed anywhere with a 60+ mph baseball can cause serious damage to a kid with still brittle bones and developing organs. Instead of forcing them to man up, how about letting them enjoy the game while they're kids!
