Boone 56 Conner 45
Boone gets homered and still gets the win. Good job showing that this is a TEAM that can play and win without their two biggest contributors on the floor in Montgomery and Brown. McCreary was on tonight and Fookes was able to come in to be the brut and get some real nice rebounds over much taller opponents. Fookes also gave a nice offensive boost with a good old fashioned hard earned 3 point play. Guard play continues to be a bonus for the rebels as they were a key to closing this one out. There's a lot to be said about the refs that did this game tonight; very disappointed is all I will say to keep it clean.

NKY POY: One Month to Go
Geisler is a well respected athlete in NKY, but I do believe there are a few others that have the ability to be a two sport DI athlete. It may not be the basketball/football combination, but you could look at Conner Hemple as a committed DI football player with DI baseball skills, Trevan Brown as a committed DI football player with statistically DI basketball skills, I wouldn't count out Travis Montgomery for the possibility of basketball\baseball opportunities once he returns from injury. D. Bradley from Cooper football\basketball. Jodh Friedel, even though he's at Elder, he's a product of NKY, just commited to Air Force for football and IMO has real DI baseball skills. I'm sure there are a few others in NKY that garner recognition of the ability to be two sport student DI athletes. But as you stated, it is an opinion, and it's all speculation until the offer is in the players hands.

Boone County 71 Highlands 64
Nice game recap Q

Boone County 71 Highlands 64
Highlands was up 10+ early in the first quarter, but Boone was able get a strong performance by Fookes and Burgess off the bench. Pitts also had some good minutes tonight. The starting five played big in the second half and built a large lead over the bluebirds and could have made the game way out of reach. Boone decided to sub all starters with just under 6 minutes to play and Highlands came back to tie the game up late in the fourth. Boone holds on to get the win.

9th Region Breakdown
Do you consider Geisler to be a mismatch for everyone in the ninth? I know there are some teams that have not been able to stop him, but IMO there are some that balance out with him as well and force others from the NCC team to be the difference makers.

Scott 74 Boone County 66
Boone missed too many wide open shots. You are correct by saying some shots were contested, but overall Boone did not have a good night from the outside. Credit whomever you want it doesn't change the statement.

I agree that Boone had an awful night behind the arc and at the charity stripe. Crabtree did a great job down low for the portion of the first half and when Scott tightened up on him, Boone didn't transfer to work the ball inside to Brown. Scott is too good of a shooting team to allow them a 12 point lead and gain momentum on their home court.

All Bluegrasspreps Team
Now that this list is out, can someone add the college commitments/offers that these players have given/received. I know these are some decent athletes, but how many are student/athletes that excelled on the field and in the classroom and impressed college scouts and are clearinghouse qualified? Personally, I'm not one to credit so high any kid who won't work just as hard in the classroom as he will on the field or in the weight room.

All Bluegrasspreps Team
Not really, we'd just like a larger piece of the cake. I too am a bit surprised that NKY has so few to make the list. Just as with the AP and the "other one", some may consider this list a joke or a slap in the face. Once again it's the voters decision, and that should not take away from the efforts of the many players that are just as good if not better than the players selected. My suggestion is to just start putting names in a hat that qualify for the list and let luck have at it because these "honorable" teams will never be fairly and accurately selected. The hat trick is complete.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, IMO the guards on the floor are the best Boone has. I do like to see subs get worked in to the rotation with the other starters when possible though, I think it helps the subs be more successful having playing time with the starters instead of subbing everyone at once, especially the boys who will need to pick it up for Boone next year.

And, Brown from Boone continues to average 20 pts per game and 10 or more rebounds per game, I would say there are still several players in the mix. In the "battle of the big men" with Geisle and Brown, it was an even match IMO, with Boone getting the win that night.

I would say that if you have been at the BCHS games you would know that the guards on the court are the best Boone has right now, without question.

Said no such thing, I was saying they could have made some calls where there was obviously very hard contact, but nothing was called. I'm not going to go into the who was fouling who game, but it was pretty rough. Doesn't really matter now, both teams played hard, and had no injuries, game over, who's next?

Brown and Geisler both ended with 1 foul each I believe. Brown, Geisler, Stauffer and Pike play pretty equal in the department of being physical. Each player has his own style of using his ability to be physical, and some get away with more than others, and some take a beating on the block more than others. Being at the game, I agree that more fouls could have been called, but they weren't for whatever reason. It amazes me what a three man crew can miss. There's nothing you can do about that, but keep playing.

Good match up down low, Brown with 17 pts, Geisler with 16, not sure on the rebounds, Geisler may have won that battle. Neither one in foul trouble. McQueary was on tonight, 4 3's in the first half and finished with 16. Boone had a 13 point lead at one point and let it slip to a tie and pulled out the win at the end of the game. Lots and lots of turn overs in this game.

Teams that are overachieving/ underachieving.
Will Pawsat return? I haven't heard an update on him in a while, anyone know? Seems like Mason Co. misses his presence on the court, hope the best for his recovery, hate to see a young man injured and unable to play.

Did CovCath fire one of their coaches?
Not quite so true. Ryle made headlines when their OC changes occured, and several other High Schools have been the topic of talk when coaching changes occour. It's just that CCH seems to be a sensitive subject to some and it gets blown way out porportion. What's the big deal? If a coach was fired, hire another one and move on.

But they keep playing right? Can't win every hand!

Sayre 80 Boone County 64
No one is blaming the refs for Boone's loss. They lost because Sayre scored more points. I simply said that the officiating crew was comical. I don't know if you were there or not, but the traveling was obvious to not just me but many others in the stands. I'm not a ref basher, but good is good and bad is bad, and you just have to find a way to play through it. I mainly will credit Smith for knocking down free throw after free throw.

Yes, but they are still a strong team with quick guards and size down low.
