Boone 56 Conner 45

Featured Replies

Boone breaks open a close one outscoring the Cougars in the 4th quarter 18-4. McQueary shot the ball very well and finished with 20 making 4 three's. Hodges led Conner with 20 off the bench. Brown was a non-factor after spending most the night in foul trouble. Conner 4/6 from the line while Boone was 14/19 for 74%.

I've watched this Conner team about 4 or 5 times this year and what puzzles me is the complete lack of "fire" in this team. It's doubly surprising considering how Coach Hicks is in that area.

It seems to have filtered down to the JV as well.

Each player has to know what he does well and what he doesn't do well.

Boone's Fookes knows exactly what he does well and he ONLY does those things.

He does all four equally well and they are all effective. He did a nice job tonight.

Going into tonight's game Conner's JV had lost 1 game to Ryle and that's it. Not sure what the outcome was tonight.

Boone's JV won by double digits.

Why did Hodges come off the bench?

Boone gets homered and still gets the win. Good job showing that this is a TEAM that can play and win without their two biggest contributors on the floor in Montgomery and Brown. McCreary was on tonight and Fookes was able to come in to be the brut and get some real nice rebounds over much taller opponents. Fookes also gave a nice offensive boost with a good old fashioned hard earned 3 point play. Guard play continues to be a bonus for the rebels as they were a key to closing this one out. There's a lot to be said about the refs that did this game tonight; very disappointed is all I will say to keep it clean.

Apparently he will be taking his football talents to Morehead next year.

Why did Hodges come off the bench?

Hodges has been coming off the bench for a while now Walter. Early in the season, he was prone to getting in early foul trouble and was not playing very well. Coming off the bench has seemed to help him with his focus. He comes in to games now with more confidence and fire power. Hodges played great against Boone tonight. He brought energy and passion that the team needed. Unfortunately for Conner, only four players scored. Hicks is not using his personnel correctly.

I cannot believe you are claiming that Boone got "homered". If you are talking about Brown getting into foul trouble, you are sadly mistaken. He earned every one of his fouls, especially his last one which could have easily been an intentional after throwing another player to the floor. He was clearly frustrated tonight and it was probably his least productive game of the season. Looking forward to Conner/Boone III. There were some missed calls on both sides, but Boone did not get "homered". Just take a look at the FT disparity. No need to bring up refs ever. EVER.

I knew you wouldn't agree with my opinion on Boone being homered so I understand your disagreement. The ref made some bogus calls because a players only job in the game was to go in and push, tug and use aggressive antics to frustrate Brown. As he would fight for position back or try to get free from the player grabbing his arms which is your so=called flagrant foul the one ref would call the foul on Brown, lousy job. When a player is being treated like a punching bag underneath and can't get and obvious call, but is called for a little touch foul himself, it can be extremely frustrating. Trevan has been playing through it all year, and some refs allow it to go both ways, but Friday night it was simply one-sided. It was ridiculous and maybe you and the refs need to look at the game again to actually see how ridiculous it was. How many points did the kid have that was guarding him, I don't think he was an offensive threat at all, because his main job was to physically/mentally frustrate Brown (or anyone he was guarding) with some rough antics that should have been handled better by the poor ref staff. He did his job very well, but it wasn't playing basketball. I'll blame the refs when they deserve it and this time especially one ref was completely fooled through the entire game. It's the opinion of several in the stands, but it really doesn't matter because Conner still lost the game with Brown on the bench and they need to worry about more than a round III with Boone.

Boone Co can be a legit contender for the title if they can get consistent guard play by Stanley/Downs (assists/making Ft's, some 3's), McQueary is hitting his jumpers, Montgomery comes back to give them some athleticism on the floor and Brown can continue to do what he does. I think they need to probably keep subbing in some of the bench guys to get them some Varsity experience but they have all the pieces if they can get them all on the court at the same time and playing well.

McQueary struggled shooting against Highlands but Brown was nails. Downs/Stanley also played well against the Birds. That was the only time I saw them this season and they also got nice minutes from Burgess/Fookes/Pitts.

My fault. When I first started reading this I thought you were talking about Fookes.

McQueary doesn't shoot "jumpers." Nice, nice shooter.
